00:21When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and
00:28right, he will preserve his life. For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious
00:40of my sin. Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:51The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will
01:01not reject.
01:06Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and
01:13confess our many sins and wickedness. We should not justify nor hide them before the face of
01:20Almighty God our Heavenly Father, but confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient
01:28heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:39Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly
01:46when we assemble and meet together, to give thanks for the great benefits we have received
01:51at his hands, to give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those
02:00things which are truly necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:07Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart
02:13and humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:20Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:27We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:33We have offended against your holy laws. We have failed to do those things which we ought
02:40not to have done, and we have done things which we ought not to have done. And so there is
02:46no health in us.
02:49But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:57Restore those who are truly penchant according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:07Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life,
03:15to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:22Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people pardon and peace,
03:28that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:34Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:42Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:47Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:54Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
04:04Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:09For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:19O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:27O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:37Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:43as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
04:52Praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
05:01Psalm 147
05:04Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God.
05:09Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate.
05:14The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, and gathers the exiles of Israel.
05:19He heals the brokenhearted, and bandages their wounds.
05:25He counts the number of the stars. He names all of them.
05:30The Lord is great and has awesome power. There is no limit to his wisdom.
05:37The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the groan.
05:44Offer to the Lord a song of thanks. Sing praises to our God, to the accompaniment of a harp.
05:52He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.
06:00He gives food to the animals and to the young ravens when they chirp.
06:06He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior's strong legs.
06:14The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.
06:22Extol the Lord, O Jerusalem. Praise your God, O Zion.
06:27For he makes the bars of your gates strong. He blesses your children within you.
06:34He brings peace to your territory. He abundantly provides for you the best grain.
06:41He sends his command through the earth. Swiftly his order reaches its destination.
06:48He sends the snow that is white like wool. He spreads the frost that is white like ashes.
06:57He throws his hail stones like crumbs. Who can withstand the cold wind he sends?
07:04He then orders it all to melt. He breathes on it and the water flows.
07:10He proclaims his word to Jacob. His statutes and regulations to Israel.
07:18He has not done so with any other nation. They are not aware of his regulations.
07:24Praise the Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:31As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. World without end. Amen.
07:46Psalm 148. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the sky. Praise him.
07:53Praise him in the heavens. Praise him, all his angels. Praise him, all his heavenly assembly.
08:01Praise him, O sun and moon. Praise him, all you shiny stars. Praise him, O highest heaven,
08:10and you waters above the sky. Let them praise the name of the Lord.
08:15For he gave the command, and they came into existence. He established them so that they would endure.
08:24He issued a decree that will not be revoked. Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures and all
08:32you ocean depths.
08:33O fire and hail, snow and clouds. O stormy wind that carries out his orders.
08:40You mountains and all you hills. You fruit trees and all you cedars. You animals and all you cattle.
08:48You creeping things and birds. You creeping things and birds. You kings of the earth and all you nations.
08:55You princes and all you leaders on the earth. You young men and young women. You elderly along with your
09:02children.
09:03Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted. His majesty extends over earth and
09:13sky.
09:15He has made his people victorious and given all his loyal followers reason to praise.
09:22the Israelites, the Israelites, the people who are close to him. Praise the Lord.
09:29Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
09:35is now and ever shall be.
09:38World without end. Amen.
09:44Psalm 149
09:47Praise the Lord, sing to the Lord a new song. Praise him in the assembly of the godly.
09:54Let Israel rejoice in their Creator. Let the people of Zion delight in their King.
10:01Let them praise his name with dancing. Let them sing praises to him, to the accompaniment of the tambourine and
10:09harp.
10:10For the Lord takes delight in his people. He exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
10:18Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication. Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
10:24May the praises of God be in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands,
10:31in order to take revenge on the nations and punish foreigners.
10:36They bind their kings in chains and their nobles in iron shackles, and execute the judgment to which the enemies
10:45have been sentenced.
10:47All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the Lord.
10:53Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
11:00is now and ever shall be.
11:03World without end. Amen.
11:08Psalm 150
11:11Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in the sky, which testifies to his strength.
11:20Praise him for his mighty acts. Praise him for his surpassing greatness.
11:26Praise him with the blast of the horn. Praise him with the lyre and the harp. Praise him with the
11:33tambourine and with dancing. Praise him with stringed instruments and a flute.

11:59is now and ever shall be.
12:02World without end. Amen.
12:08The Book of Wisdom, Chapters 6 and 7
12:14But what wisdom is and how she came into being, I will declare. I will not hide mysteries from you,
12:22but I will explore from her first beginning, bringing the knowledge of her into clear light.
12:28I will not pass by the truth. Indeed, I won't go with consuming envy, because envy will have no fellowship
12:37with wisdom.
12:39But a multitude of wise men is salvation to the world. An understanding king is stability for his people.
12:48Therefore be instructed by my words, and you will profit. I myself am also immortal like everyone else, and am
12:57a descendant of one formed first and born of the earth.
13:02I moulded into flesh in the time of ten months in my mother's womb, being compacted in blood from the
13:09seed of man and the pleasure that came with sleep.
13:13I also, when I was born, drew in the common air, and fell upon the kindred earth, uttering, like all,
13:20for my first voice the same cry.
13:24I was nursed with care in swaddling clothes. For no king had any other first beginning, but all men have
13:32but one entrance into life and a common departure.
13:36For this cause I prayed, and understanding was given to me. I asked, a spirit of wisdom came to me.
13:45I preferred her before scepters and thrones. I considered riches nothing in comparison to her.
13:53Neither did I liken her to any priceless gem, because all the gold in her presence is but a little
13:59sand, and silver will be considered like clay before her.
14:04I loved her more than health and beauty. I chose to have her rather than light, because her bright shining
14:12is never laid to sleep.
14:15All good things came to me with her, and innumerable riches are in her hands. I rejoiced over them, because
14:24all wisdom leads them, although I didn't know that she was their mother.
14:29As I learnt without guile, I impart without grudge. I don't hide her riches, for she is a treasure for
14:38men that doesn't fail, and those who use it obtain friendship with God, commended by the gifts which they present
14:46through discipline.
14:48But to me may God give to speak with judgment, to conceive thoughts worthy of what has been given to
14:56me.
14:58Because he is one who guides even wisdom, and that corrects the wise.
15:04This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
15:19Mary said, My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour, because he
15:28has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:33For from now on all generations will call me blessed, because he who is mighty has done great things for
15:41me, and holy is his name.
15:44From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:51He has demonstrated power with his arm. He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of
15:59their hearts.
16:00He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
16:07He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
16:13He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
16:23descendants forever.
16:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
16:33is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
16:43The Gospel according to Saint Luke, chapters 20 and 21.
16:50Some Sadducees, who contend that there is no resurrection, came to him.
16:56They asked him, Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, leaving a wife but no children,
17:04that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.
17:09Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died without children.
17:16The second and then the third married her. In the same way all seven died, leaving no children.
17:24Finally the woman died too. In the resurrection therefore whose wife will the woman be?
17:30For all seven had married her.
17:34So Jesus said to them, The people of this age marry and are given in marriage.
17:41But those who are regarded as worthy to share in that age and in the resurrection from the dead,
17:47neither marry nor are given in marriage.
17:51In fact they can no longer die because they are equal to angels and sons of God,
17:56since they are sons of the resurrection.
18:00But even Moses revealed that the dead are raised in the passage about the bush,
18:05where he calls the Lord, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
18:12He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living, for all live before him.
18:19Then some of the experts in the law answered, Teacher, you have spoken well,
18:25because they did not dare any longer to ask him anything.
18:30He said to them, Why do they say that the Christ is the son of David?
18:35For David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord,
18:41Take your seat at my right hand until I put your feet,
18:46put under your feet those who are against you.
18:50David then gives him the name of Lord.
18:52So how is it possible for him to be his son?
18:58In the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples,
19:01Keep away from the scribes whose pleasure it is to go about in long robes
19:06and to have words of respect said to them in the marketplaces,
19:10taking the chief seats in the synagogues and the first places at feasts,
19:16who take the property of widows and before the eyes of men make long prayers.
19:21They will get a greater punishment.
19:25Looking up, he saw the wealth, the men of wealth putting their offerings in the money box.
19:31And then he watched as a certain poor widow put in a farthing.
19:37So he said, Truly I say to you, this poor widow has given more than all of them.
19:43For they gave out of their wealth, having more than enough for themselves.
19:49But she, even out of her need, has put all her living.
19:56This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
20:10Now according to your word, Sovereign Lord,
20:13Permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:16For my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
20:24a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.
20:32Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
20:36as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
20:48I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
20:53and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
20:57who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:06was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into hell.
21:11On the third day he rose again from the dead.
21:15He ascended into heaven and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
21:22From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:27I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,
21:33the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.
21:40Amen.
21:45The Lord be with you and with your spirit.
21:52Let us pray.
21:55Lord have mercy upon us.
21:59Christ have mercy upon us.
22:03Lord have mercy upon us.
22:10Our Father who is in heaven,
22:13holy is your name.
22:16May your kingdom come.
22:18May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
22:23Give us this day our daily bread.
22:26Forgive us our trespasses,
22:28as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:32Lead us not into temptation,
22:35but deliver us from evil.
22:38For yours is the kingdom,
22:40the power and the glory,
22:43for ever and ever.
22:45Amen.
22:50O Lord show your mercy upon us,
22:53and grant us your salvation.
22:59Protect and guide those in authority over us,
23:04and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
23:09Endure your ministers with righteousness,
23:13and make your chosen people joyful.
23:18O Lord save your people,
23:21and bless your inheritance.
23:26give peace in our time,
23:28O Lord,
23:30because there is none other who fights for us,
23:33but only you, O God.
23:36O God make clean our hearts within us,
23:41and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
23:53Let us pray.
23:56Lord, we beseech you to keep your household, the church,
24:01in continual godliness,
24:03that, through your protection,
24:05it may be free from all adversities,
24:09devotefully given to serve you in good works,
24:12to the glory of your name.
24:14Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
24:17Amen.
24:25O God,
24:27from whom all holy desires,
24:30all good counsels,
24:31and all just works proceed,
24:34give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give,
24:38that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
24:42and also that, by you,
24:45we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
24:49may pass our time in rest and quietness.
24:53Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
24:57Amen.
25:02Light in our darkness we beseech you, O Lord,
25:06and by your great mercy defend us all
25:09from perils and dangers of this night.
25:12For the love of your only Son,
25:15our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
25:17Amen.
25:21Almighty God,
25:22who has given us grace at this time with one accord
25:26to make our common supplications to you,
25:29and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
25:34you will grant their requests.
25:38Fulfill now, O Lord,
25:40the desires and petitions of your servants,
25:43as may be most beneficial for them,
25:47granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
25:51and in the world to come life everlasting.
25:55Amen.
25:58With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
26:01and the love of God,
26:02and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
26:05be with us all evermore.
26:07Amen.
26:08Amen.
