00:00In this video, I will show you how to fix Steam initialization failed.
00:05To get started, if you do have Steam opened, then make sure to close this down
00:09and fully exit out of Steam by coming to the bottom right-hand corner of your taskbar,
00:14clicking onto this arrow which says show hidden icons.
00:17Then what you want to do is right-click onto the Steam logo and click exit Steam.
00:22Now, once you've done that, what you want to do from your desktop
00:24is come to your search box in the taskbar at the bottom.
00:27In here, you want to type Steam and you should see the Steam app come up underneath Best Match.
00:32From here, right-click onto the Steam app and then click onto Open File Location.
00:37And then what you want to do is click to select the Steam app, right-click again
00:41and then come and click onto Properties.
00:43Once the Steam Properties window is opened, come up to the tabs at the top and click onto Compatibility.
00:48And from here, you want to come down to the Settings section
00:51and tick the two boxes to disable full-screen optimizations
00:54and to run this program as an administrator.
00:57Once that's done, click Apply and OK.
01:00And after doing this, there's one more thing you need to do.
01:02So coming back to your desktop, you want to come back down to your search box.
01:06In here, you want to type Graphics Settings
01:08and then open up Graphics Settings underneath Best Match.
01:12Once your Graphics Settings is opened, come down to the search box here
01:16where it says Customize Settings for Applications.
01:19And in the search box, you want to type Steam.
01:22So you should now see that come up.
01:23What you want to do is give it a click and that's going to expand it and bring up some
01:27options.
01:28And what you want to do is come to GPU Preference
01:30and it should be set to let Windows decide.
01:33Click onto the drop-down box and what you want to do is select High Performance.
01:38Once that's done, you can close this down, restart your computer or laptop
01:41and you should now be able to play Steam without the initialization error.
