This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the weekend 08/10/2026. Four seasons in one week? It certainly feels that way. After hints of summer earlier this week, the weekend brings a much cooler feel with a mixture of sunshine and showers, though Sunday looks calmer with more sunshine to offer. Bringing you this weekend’s weather forecast is Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there.
00:01It's felt like we've had a mixture of seasons this week, going from summer to autumn and
00:07maybe a touch of winter this weekend.
00:09Before we get on to that though, let's take a look at the bigger picture.
00:13It might have felt a bit chillier today, but actually tomorrow things will turn a bit milder,
00:17all thanks to a warm front moving through.
00:19Quite a few isobars on the chart, which does mean it's going to be fairly blustery at times,
00:23especially on Saturday.
00:25Quite a few showers moving through as well, but notice then a ridge of high pressure starts
00:29to build behind.
00:30That will settle things down, making the isobars spread apart a bit more.
00:34That will also lighten off the winds as we progress into Sunday.
00:37Low pressure never too far away though, so that does mean things will turn slightly more
00:42unsettled as we progress into next week.
00:45Before we get on to that though, let's take a look at the weekend.
00:49Now, it could still be fairly chilly out there to start first thing, but quite a lot of cloud,
00:53a decent wind around, so that's going to stop temperatures from dropping too low.
00:56Perhaps some brighter weather across the far south and southeast, but for most it's going
01:01to be quite a changeable and unsettled day.
01:03Plenty of showers moving through, particularly across Scotland.
01:07Some of these could be heavy with some hail, some thunder, perhaps even a sprinkling of
01:11snow across high ground.
01:13But it's likely most will see a shower or two into Saturday, perhaps the best of the sunshine
01:18across the very far south and southeast.
01:20A little bit more protected from those showers in that northwesterly flow, which is going to be
01:25quite brisk at times, temperatures around about average, if not a touch below in places.
01:30But because of that brisk north to northwesterly wind, that is going to make things feel that
01:35bit chillier, especially if you're catching quite a few of those showers across northern
01:39areas as well, temperatures more feeling like the high single figures.
01:44Now later on into the evening, there will still be some showers for a time, but they will
01:49eventually start to ease away.
01:50Like I showed earlier, that ridge of high pressure is starting to build later Saturday through
01:54into Sunday.
01:55Still some showers around, mostly confined to coastal areas, also pushing into northern
02:00and central parts of England, but likely more clearer skies first thing on Sunday compared
02:05to what we'll see on Saturday morning.
02:07Once again, a decent breeze through much of the night.
02:10That will start to ease away through the early hours of the morning, so that will hold temperatures
02:13up to mostly into the high single figures, but still likely feeling quite chilly first thing
02:18on Sunday.
02:20Sunday itself, though, definitely looks like the better day of the weekend.
02:24It's quite breezy to start, but then winds will eventually ease away through the course
02:27of the morning, and there will be far fewer showers as well, so many areas will see some
02:32dry weather, some sunny spells, and in those lighter winds, with more sunshine around, it should
02:37certainly feel that bit more pleasant compared to Saturday.
02:40We could see a fair amount of cloud by the time we reach the afternoon, still the odd spot
02:44of rain, but for most, it should be the drier day of the weekend.
02:48And temperatures fairly similar, but like I said, with lighter winds, a bit more sunshine
02:52around, likely feeling more pleasant than Saturday.
02:56Now there is some rain not too far away.
02:58It's likely later on Sunday, we'll start to see some wet and windy weather return from
03:02the west.
03:03And as I mentioned earlier, low pressure never too far away for the first part of the week,
03:07so it's likely we'll continue to see some wet and windy weather, particularly across
03:11the far north and northwest.
03:13So there's still quite a mixed bag of weather as we progress into next week, so if you want
