00:19henry with my guy brian fonseca we are in pre-season mode just got back from philadelphia
00:26knicks played their first pre-season game have another one this week at the garden against
00:30the wizards and we'll see what happens there but we've done this the last couple of years we like
00:35to talk about the best bets around the knicks every season and brian being i won't call you
00:41should i call you a betting guru no not a guru aficionado oh that sounds like you have a
00:47gambling problem no can't do that i i'm not even as much of a gambler as people think i would
00:53just
00:53say analyst betting just to move the conversation there we go that that works betting analyst brian
00:58does some work as a betting analyst yeah so he's going to help us it's the way the industry has
01:02gone people you know what i mean but it is what it is well we'll analyze hey here we are
01:07talking about
01:08some bets so we'll analyze some of the bets we've had some fun with it over time people can read
01:12my
01:13expression what what i'm saying without saying there you go uh we're going to talk about some
01:18of the best bets and interesting bets around the knicks this season uh that i think fans will
01:23be interested in you know we look at it all the time um so let's talk about it one of
01:29the things
01:30we always like to look at brian over under with the knicks last year the over under for the knicks
01:35i believe was was it 53 i'll tell you right now if i remember correctly it was 53 it's kind
01:40of been
01:41this way for a while so last year it was 53 and a half they went under because they went
01:46right at 53
01:47yep um i predicted them to go over we both did and that did not i thought they'd get to
01:5255 ish that's
01:53what i thought and they fell short of that um the year before was also 53 and a half this
01:59is the
01:59what turned out to be the final tom thibodeau year yep they had 51 wins that year they went to
02:05the
02:05conference finals and then in 23 24 this was their second semi-final year yeah um 47 or 49 the
02:13final
02:13julius randall year yeah as a matter of fact also they were at 45 and a half and they finished
02:2050 and
02:2132 so that's recent recent history three straight wins of 50 50 wins the last two they have not gone
02:30over their projected win total three years ago they did go over their projected win and the year
02:34before that they did also 38 and a half and then the first jalen brunson year 38 and a half
02:39and they
02:39were 47 35 so with that being said this year 52 and a half wins is the total that you
02:47have for the
02:47knicks that is their over under 52 and a half wins some may see as an interesting bet i gotta
02:53be honest
02:54here when i look at that and we look at some of the other odds that we can see uh
02:57with the knicks right
02:58now i'm inclined to look at this brian you tell me it's when you're looking at value and look over
03:04unders are fun it's that you know you think you yeah people always inclined to hit the over you
03:08want it's simple yeah more i get it this year with the knicks coming off of a very short offseason
03:16because they won the championship i don't see this team going that hard in the regular season
03:22i see a lot of times they're going to be resting guys and just because they've gone under the last
03:28couple of years i know this is one less game i gotta say under i gotta go i gotta go
03:35under here
03:35with the knicks i i could see but like but like 50 50 and 32 or 51 and 31 i
03:43see that you know what
03:44i'll say i would if there was a bet hey do you think they'll get 50 wins for the third
03:49consecutive
03:49year or fourth consecutive year would be i would say yeah i'd like that i think they'll just get it
03:54i think you get to 50 wins the east is also harder i want to factor that into the east
03:59is tougher we'll
03:59get to that and i think you're gonna you're gonna get some losses from teams that were at the bottom
04:03last year that you would not have got uh from you know team even a team like a chicago is
04:08going to
04:08be better i think a little scrappier yeah they're gonna steal some wins here i mean the net the nets
04:12aren't gonna be terrible they shouldn't be anyway no you know they're not yeah even them they're a
04:16little bit better than they were last year yeah so i could see 50 wins i don't know if i
04:20want to go
04:21more than that for me yeah like i'm i don't have a strong like you have to take the over
04:27or under
04:27on this i would i think that right around their projected win total is where they're going to be
04:32more or less um obviously i think they have the talent to do more than that they also had a
04:37shorter
04:37off season and again like we've seen with these teams who have had long playoff run after long
04:43playoff run after long playoff run you can get guys on lengthy absences like aaron gordon still
04:49hasn't fully recovered seemingly from their title from that you know what i mean like he keeps getting
04:55injured um and and we've seen jamal murray struggle also after that championship we've seen it with the
05:02celtics obviously we know what happened with jason tatum in particular and chris asperzingis for
05:05whatever reason i don't even know how much of it is like uh uh outside of the viral infection that
05:12he's been dealing with but like you know there's there's stuff there too um in oklahoma city last year
05:17broke down at the very end otherwise they could have met the knicks in the finals you know they
05:22ended up losing aj mitchell they ended up losing uh jaylen williams for a lot of last season with
05:27hamstring issue wrist issue so yeah um for me this is this is like right at the number like i'd
05:34be
05:34tempted to to be like hey it's 52 exactly or something along those lines or 51 exactly but i think
05:42ultimately what's gonna matter to people is if they're healthy come playoff time i think ultimately
05:46they're still gonna be a top three four seed uh maybe a top two seed because of how stacked the
05:52east could be like the best record may only be 53 and 29 or 54 and 28 um but i
05:57think they're gonna
05:58be right around where they're projected to be barring significant injury yeah that's why for me it's
06:03like i kind of lean under but i would probably just stay away from oh i would not i would
06:08not touch
06:08this yeah i would not probably stay away personally this year last year i felt more inclined that they
06:14could do it and then we saw certain things now yeah a lot of things got to go right in
06:18a season
06:18like this i just think the the way the vibe i'm getting from the knicks and the way they're even
06:23managing this preseason to the way i think coach brown is going to manage a regular season i think
06:28you're going to see a lot of i know people hate the word but you'll see some load management
06:31and i think that's a smart thing for the knicks i think they're going to be very smart very cautious
06:35with their veteran players because it all is like you said it's about the playoffs so that's it now
06:40speaking and we were going through the schedule yesterday there's a couple long road trips early
06:45on in the year six gamer in january as well too yeah so um out west so there's there's some
06:50trips
06:50that you got to worry about there too now speaking of the playoffs and winning a championship this is
06:57probably maybe the most fascinating one for people because what do you think is the better value
07:04the knicks to win a title which the knicks have the fourth best odds to win a title
07:09according to going to give a sportsbook out here actually we're not because they don't sponsor us
07:13so we're not going to do that yeah um but we're just going to go plus you can get it
07:16around plus
07:161 000 folks yes we can you can get it around there and so do you want to say the
07:21team's ahead of
07:22them because i think one of them will be very i think people will be like okay those two make
07:26sense
07:26but that third one okc san antonio and the philadelphia 76ers are the team that's ahead
07:34of the knicks now you're right people really like the sixers yeah and you know what's funny
07:39so i'm i'm in philly for the first preseason game and i talked a lot of people people around the
07:44sixers people cover the sixers just talking to some people and it was really interesting to hear
07:50how many people are just philly is really excited about this they are happy to have lebron they
07:57think they can win i'm not saying they can't win and when i ask people i'm like well what's the
08:03concern for you of course it's in beats health a lot of people i think aren't talking about
08:07the lebron age factor here too yeah his foot's falling off he has sciatica or whatever yeah i think
08:13that's kind of getting swept under the rug and almost a little unfair to lebron we know how dope
08:17lebron has been but yeah i think his over under by the way for points per game was like 17
08:21and a
08:21half or so yeah i'd stay away from that i'm just conditioned to think he'll get 20 a game forever
08:28but i think a lot of people are conditioned to that and but he won't have to on this team
08:32so yeah
08:32he won't so we'll see but yes philly is and also i think a lot of that tells you about
08:37how much you
08:38know i know you know this better than me a lot of the betting money is coming in on philly's
08:41just
08:41when you have the names like jalen brown and lebron going there immediately after lebron went there
08:45and jalen brown too but after lebron went there that like more people more cat because that's
08:50casual bettors are moving that yeah and they're just like oh philly has all the all these names
08:55then okay fine that's how it works right and that's that's just how it goes i don't even
08:59get into that like that but that's how it goes yeah now the value for the next one is how
09:03you can find
09:04that around plus 1 000 the next to win the east get that around they are the second obviously we
09:10just
09:10told you philly's ahead of them so they're second in odds to win the east after philly get that around
09:15plus 360 if you're making a bet right this is what comes down to do you think the knicks can
09:20go
09:20back to back or do you think they could there's a better shot of them just reaching the finals the
09:24odds tells you they think there's a better shot of them reaching the finals than it is to go back
09:27to back but what are you what do you think is the better value bet there next to win it
09:33all
09:35because you do have some good odds here plus 1 000 or the next to just get to the finals
09:39and win the
09:40east you know what you do this this is what this is what my boy joe dalera would do over
09:45at action
09:45network who i work with he would just do something like instead of either of those things why don't
09:50you just bet jalen brunson to win finals mvp at plus 900 he's like because if they're going to win
09:57he's probably going to be the mvp and if you really want to bet them to win the championship like
10:03they're only going to get there if jalen brunson is jalen brunson so like that that's kind of the way
10:07you do it you know what i mean and you literally just saw proof of this granted he was not
10:13healthy
10:14jalen brunson with the injured hand but you literally just saw proof of this like it's
10:17if you can get there it's like jalen brunson finals mvp 900 if you if you want to take another
10:23shot i mean
10:23cats 4 000 uh plus 4 000 og is plus 10 000 which we know it'll most likely be brunson
10:31again if they
10:32were to win another championship but that's that's really how you got to play it you just take it off
10:37the
10:37team and be like well if this team wins who's likely to win finals mvp like that's just the
10:43same thing with conference finals and for this particular team like it's more most likely going
10:49to be brunson it would be brunson whereas some other teams you may have to think about a little
10:54bit more but with denver it's most likely going to be yokich with okc it's most likely going to be
10:59shea with the spurs it most likely would be wemby and then you know maybe you get a pacer situation
11:05from a couple years ago where like well it could be siakam and he did get eastern conference finals
11:09mvp it doesn't have to be halliburton but for the knicks it it feels like it would be brunson anyway
11:15so that's just how i would look at that instead of just looking at whether or not the team can
11:19win
11:19the title yeah shout out to friend of the show joe delara i thinking about that is interesting for me
11:26because i hear i hear his point the logic is sound i don't yeah he hasn't said this i'm just
11:31saying i
11:32think this is i think this is what joe would do that's how he thinks about these bets right for
11:37me i'll send this to him and see if i get his approval listen i know next fans are going
11:42to
11:42come in here and be in the comments and be like dex you don't believe they can go back to
11:45back we
11:46were talking about this with our technical director nicolai jackson before look do the knicks have a
11:53shot to go back to back like a legitimate shot yes they are a they're going to be a contender
11:57for
11:58the title they have this is what i put it i think they have a legit shot to be in
12:01the final four of
12:02teams left yeah at the end of the season and they're projected as such legit shot for that which
12:07is why i think the better bet is for them to win the east right it's you know i'll call
12:12it the safer
12:13bet right to win the east like i if i was playing it i would probably if you were going
12:17to spend some
12:18money may put a little bit more on them to win the east and maybe sprinkle just a little something
12:23on
12:23them to win the whole thing that's why you feel good and if you don't you didn't you know try
12:29to
12:29do this responsibly you didn't lose too much right like you'll be okay but i just think the
12:33better value is in them to win the east and here's the thing it doesn't mean i don't think
12:37the knicks can go back to back and there are challenges in the second apron with teams going
12:41back to back as we talked about but here's the thing you're banking on a team that has been
12:45together and played a lot of playoff games yeah and then you know even you might even take
12:51another bet which we don't have the odds for up here but it's what's the odds for them to just
12:54reach the conference finals right which i'm gonna if it's like i do have that it's at plus
12:58you know yeah 60 minus 185 to reach the east semis it's reach the east finals plus 150 i thought
13:06it'd be a plus 150 you did have the numbers yeah philly's about the same philly and the knicks are
13:11seen as the top two teams which i i don't i don't know about that but i might ladder those
13:15bets if you
13:15could in how you divvy up your money i'd probably go there maybe a lot more than to reach the
13:20conference finals to then win the east and then win the finals it's a nice fun bet if you want
13:24to
13:24them play all the way and you can win some money as you go along and not maybe lose as
13:28much um
13:30that's probably the way i would play it if i was going to do that i think they're going to
13:34be in
13:34the hunt you just wonder when you get to the hunt look if you get to the final four you
13:39got a chance
13:39you got yourself a chance yeah but can you get there and then get healthy we haven't seen a repeat
13:44nba champion in eight seasons now we haven't seen a repeat conference champion in a while right
13:50can a team break that trend sure doesn't have to happen we might go this whole second apron era and
13:57never see it yeah possible yeah do i think it's possible a team could break that trend yes but i
14:02also will caution and say you know it's gonna have to happen they're going to have to be really healthy
14:08yeah more not importantly through the regular season but by the time they get to the start of
14:12the postseason and we also have to talk about the fact that the knicks shout out to the medical staff
14:20dope last year yeah they had a lot of injury luck and injury luck is part of any team winning
14:26the
14:26title and this is not you need things to bounce the right way you need things to happen you need
14:32og to when he gets the hamstring strain that the knicks swept so he had extra time to rest now
14:38it
14:39helped that the knicks didn't play with their food they took care of business that helps yeah can you
14:43get some of those things again to happen can you not play with your food so guys can rest during
14:47the
14:47regular season all these things matter but it was me i think the best bet i i like the bet
14:53for the
14:53knicks to win the conference to get back to the finals i like that bet i i think they have
14:58a good
14:58shot a lot of stuff depends on matchups but if that's the way i play for them to reach the
15:03east
15:03finals i would ladder it go to the win the conference finals and win this title i would ladder it
15:09and
15:09then you know they put more money and a little bit less money as the odds go up is what
15:14i would do
15:14yeah i mean because they're you know let's see three plus like 360 ish to win the east and brunson's
15:22plus 400 to win eastern conference finals mvp i would just take the brunson bet and i would also just
15:27sprinkle on towns at plus 1800 that's just that's just how i would play it it's like all right if
15:31they win mvp it's most likely going to be brunson it could also be towns og doesn't put up the
15:36like
15:36gaudy numbers that the voters would probably look for although now we understand not we but like
15:43the the the masses understand his impact you know given the signature play given how great he was
15:50you know at at the most important moments of winning time during the playoffs so i do think that
15:57you know he's at plus 5000 there so you can you can do that like why not but i i
16:02think i would just
16:02do it that way um but i also don't feel the need to do it right now we're just we're
16:09talking about it
16:10in preseason like but like what if they get off to a slowest start because of all the things we're
16:17talking about it then it's like oh you know what there's some value there because like the raptors
16:22came out hot they're 11 and three people really like them yannis and miami they're like 10 and
16:28four their defense is number one league and then it's like oh people are forgetting about the knicks
16:32all of a sudden then is the time to like really like strike with that that's a great point when
16:36you look at the future so you can get some more value giving people some giving people something
16:40else to consider also and then and then to response another thing you said where you talked about like
16:45you know believing they could go back to back which we both think they're capable of but i want
16:49to remind people that you know we thought and collectively like as mb as people covering the nba
16:55following the nba and i think a lot of nba fans felt this way also like who's gonna beat denver
16:59and then they got beat who's gonna beat boston right they got beat who's gonna beat okc and then
17:05they got beat like we do this all the time with the defending champion in this second apron era
17:09where the champion looks like they could just keep it going and they don't so like we don't have to
17:15see
17:15the forest through the trees today like oh they're definitely gonna get back because nobody could stop
17:20them it's like you have to see the season play out i will say to that though because i think
17:26the point
17:26you made of that group of teams just because the knicks are the knicks and some of this is going
17:30to
17:31be i know fans will get into this they take the bait with certain programs and stuff like i know
17:35where
17:35you're going the knicks won't get that benefit of the doubt and i'm not trying to throw my cape on
17:41here for the knicks but they won't get the benefit of doubt they won't i'm more so talking about knicks
17:45fans like like just i wouldn't i wouldn't go into the season being like they're absolutely going to win
17:53another championship no because i think what we acknowledge and what we understand and i think
17:57they can but other fans i wouldn't i wouldn't say yeah winning a championship is hard going back to
18:03back in any era second apron era whatever you want to call it it's still hard it's really hard to
18:08do
18:08yeah you can argue that it's harder to do than ever before yes because of the roster i would definitely
18:13say that but it's really hard to do all right one of a play i want to look at some
18:19player stuff for you
18:20and one of the ones i think you and i both found interesting a player that's very interesting
18:24because he's also trying to get paid that is carl anthony towns now one of the things i remember us
18:31talking about this during watch parties cat assists there was a time through the atlanta series and
18:37through part of this philly series where that number was so low and cat was getting like five plus
18:40assists almost every night it was like a bet you had to make with cat operating more from the you
18:47know
18:47that's the hub of the offense on the wing which coach brown has talked about that you'll see more
18:52of that this year with new wrinkles you could think that maybe his assist numbers go up it's possible i
18:58don't think it's unreasonable to think that that he could um now generally cat assists per game i think
19:06for his career is around just over three um that he's had that he had in his career it's at
19:113.1
19:11actually right um the recent single season averages have gone anywhere from 3.1 to 3.4
19:19but he hasn't had the freedom to have this many touches and then have the passing that we maybe
19:24you'll see like it's in the playoffs i think there could be a bump in his assist i think that's
19:29possible
19:30i do too how much of a bump there is yeah that's interesting now we looked at some odds and
19:36cat to
19:37average six plus assist because we can't find five we couldn't find five which i think find it which
19:43i which i think is interesting yeah why you can't find five although five even five would be difficult
19:48for a big like it just doesn't happen often but i think it would be possible enough and tantalizing
19:53enough for people to sprinkle some dollars down yeah now they're trying to tantalize you more
19:57with the odds i'm gonna give you here for six and that's plus 500
20:01six is a lot for someone who hasn't even done five in a season right six is a lot i
20:08think as high
20:08as 3.4 yeah he hasn't even done four no he has one year whoa how many games he's actually
20:14so
20:15in three different years he's gotten closer he's got 4.4 in a 35 game season yeah that's yeah 4
20:23.5 this
20:24that was the coveted year the 4.5 the year after coveted and mind you the the usage he was
20:29not playing
20:29with jalen brunson he was not playing with like this team different kind of situation right like
20:34this is pre-anthony edwards minnesota right and then early in anthony edwards career he averaged 4.8
20:42but he played 29 games that year carl anthony towns this was the 22 23 season i think that was
20:48the year that minnesota made it back to the playoffs for the first time oh no well not in first
20:52time in
20:52a while because they did it with jimmy butler but they did make it to the playoffs that year and
20:56they got
20:57gentlemen swept by the denver nuggets and then cat signed the four for 224 extension that summer
21:04i six is too high of a number for me yeah no i can't now you start giving me the
21:09numbers of five
21:10i think that's a fun five i could think about i think that's a fun futures prop i think it's
21:14fun
21:15you can look at it i think he will get into four somethings this year i think he can get
21:20give it a good
21:21run we've looked for five we can't find any odds on five if if you're gonna say that six is
21:28at 500
21:29let's say five is 250 let's say it's plus 250 it's fine can i give you the the i do
21:34it so this is what
21:35you have to look at right how many nba players do you think averaged six assists last year in the
21:40nba
21:40like the the the done nba the amount of players that did it six six point oh not 5.5
21:46with rounding
21:476.0 because that's how they're gonna grade it ultimately uh you don't win by rounding i'm gonna
21:53say 20 19 yeah feels about right how many of them were centers do you think one two who's the
22:03other
22:03one beside the yokich albert shangun albert shangun 6.2 okay but like so he would that's the level
22:10that he would have to get to right and that's that's not even accounting for like the monster
22:16sabonis who was injured last year so he doesn't really qualify but he's a guy capable he's yeah bam
22:22has gotten five i think twice he's done it he's definitely done it at least once i don't know if
22:30he'll do that with janice this year janice is another one while he's not a center but he i mean
22:35this year will be a four five but he he can hit this and he's somebody whose assist numbers have
22:41gone up so like that's where cat kind of has to get to if five were out there i'd feel
22:46more
22:46comfortable doing that you have 35 players who averaged five assists per game last season julius
22:51randall being one of them at 5.0 exactly um like that's something that makes more sense to me you
22:57have like draymond greens there that's something you would expect scotty barnes who was awesome
23:01last year and a really good playmaker he's not like a big necessarily he's a big wing i wouldn't
23:06say like he's a center yeah i wouldn't say that he could play some small ball five in some lineups
23:10he's more of a three four like a tweener forward combo forward but that's where cat kind of would
23:14have to get to to get this so six is just like it's a fun long shot it's going to
23:20be very difficult
23:20five though if five were out there and if you could find five uh let us know yeah i think
23:25that's
23:25possible i also think it's a fun bet take it i think five could be really interesting it's still
23:29a lot but it's still a lot but it's possible for him with the confidence he's found his offense
23:33coming off of the playoff run playing as the hub of the offense i do think it's possible and i
23:38do
23:38think the knicks are going to be a little bit more empowered i think the wings are going to be
23:42more
23:42empowered playing off of cat so i i do see some better things for them offensively it's five would be
23:48a fun bet six i don't six i just don't see six shows you got to be like an elite
23:52level passing big
23:53man now i do think cat's an underrated passing big man but i wouldn't put him in that al prince
23:58and goon nicola yoka sabonis yeah i wouldn't put him in bam's gotten five twice sabonis has gotten
24:04six or more it looks like three or four times and this is no shade to bam bam doing it
24:08gives me hope
24:09that cat could do it i mean he's a good playmaker too yeah they're both i mean i would say
24:13that
24:13they're both probably in that tier that same tier yeah that's what that's what i think that's what i
24:17meant by that they have similar they have similar passing talent yeah that's what i meant by that
24:21there's no shade to bam it's just i see him in that same tier it's here all right a couple
24:25more
24:25things before we go i wanted to look at og because i'm sure he'll get a lot of love now
24:29i did bring
24:31this up we couldn't find it og for most improved player i'm gonna say this and this is coming off
24:38of watching him yeah he first he didn't qualify he didn't he wouldn't even listen like it's crazy
24:44like i think in one instance let me let me just verify let me just double check just i think
24:48og what i'll
24:49say while you check he might be too good that's the thing i think og the way he came out
24:54even in
24:55preseason name number one knows preseason he's not took a bunch of shots he was extremely aggressive
25:00all of us sitting on press row were talking about it was like not that he was chucking or anything
25:04he
25:04just there was an aggression to him and we talked about it i talked about it in this offseason about
25:09him being one of the players what they could do to improve his game he was more decisive with the
25:13ball something i was looking at not over dribbling now that also translate and will he make shots and be
25:19aggressive we know how good of a defensive player he is but i think if you're looking at him to
25:23win
25:24most improved player of the year if he does ever get listed i don't think he would be a bad
25:27pick but
25:28we couldn't find that so he would have to his numbers because he's already good would have to
25:33jump significantly that's the thing he'd have to get to be we're talking about him 23 yeah per game
25:39scorer i don't know if that can happen to him on this team with brunson and cat right but i
25:44do think
25:44that there's maybe another thing it's not a bet for talking about if healthy is there a chance for him
25:48to make
25:48an all-star team this year i think that's something he would like now he's talked about
25:52how he thinks he should get more recognized for his defense and all of that and look og's odds to
25:59win
25:59defensive player of the year you can see it's around plus seven thousand yeah right it's just yeah
26:06it's so that here's the problem that's the one that we've talked about so far where i'm like that's
26:10an automatic like i'll just i'll just take a shot at it because why not you could also you could
26:17also i
26:17tell i don't know if you're going to mention this but and one place who doesn't sponsor this program
26:23you could bet the field versus wemby because wemby is like minus 300 to win it which is crazy
26:29but it's crazy but it's not because he's that good but also like if he misses 18 games then
26:35you know but see maybe that's so which would you do would you take og for depoy or would you
26:40go with
26:41the field yeah just do both i would say i would take og because you could get a whole bunch
26:45of
26:45dudes at value you can get og at seven thousand the field by the way is plus 250 it looks
26:50like
26:50what do you think og's numbers has to look like in order for him to get this done and and
26:55assuming
26:55maybe that's that that honestly is that oh but even okay let's say that happens what what do the
27:04numbers that have to look like for him to hold off the rest of the field defensive numbers i
27:09i think they could just be similar because i he's already done like 1.6 deals 0.7 blocks and
27:15we've talked about all the time like that's not how you measure defense right tell that to some of
27:19the voters um but like depoy is really reputation based like rudy gobert i would argue he's gotten
27:26a couple more defensive player of the years than he deserves because of reputation because of
27:31reputation like you know like i think i think that we're also going to look at all right who are
27:37the
27:37teams that are playing really well although the first depoy that rudy gobert got the jazz were
27:42like a five seed and he missed a third of the season but whatever um you would have like who
27:48are going to be the the best defensive teams in the league you would think detroit's going to be in

28:17much kawaii is going to play in terms of that game's played but they'll be good defense like these
28:21are these are the teams that you're thinking about right yeah so for the knicks if they're just one of

28:27best two three teams in the east in the regular season like og is going to be in that conversation
28:31if the defense is good enough if the defense is like a top five to seven defense or so because
28:37that's part of it it's like your team has to be really good so why is your team really good
28:40defensively well they have this person you have to have somebody to point to he's the guy that
28:44you're going to point to here and that's the advantage that he would have because like we know
28:48it's not going to be jalen with all due respect and we know it's not going to be cat no
28:51so it
28:51have to be og ananobi they have to be i like this bet i think it's a fun long shot

29:41the the season ended before he even got that award so we'll see how motivated he is here all
29:46right last thing before we get up out of here we gotta talk about the captain jalen brunson now
29:54he is the mvp in the hearts of a lot of nicks fans and understandably so yeah totally get it
30:00we know what he means to this team the odds for jalen brunson to win mvp i bet this last
30:05year
30:06if you can remember i remember this i remember i took this last year do you remember the odds last
30:11year is similar to this okay it's very similar plus 3 500 yeah guys um plus 3 500 for jalen

30:20to win mvp and you can look at some of these other odds outlooks but the two i really want
30:24to compare
30:25here is the odds for him to win clutch player yeah plus 750 right and whether or not you think
30:32that's
30:32the better value but you can all see the other numbers here folks to average 25 points per game
30:36they pretty much think that's a lock yeah that is that minus 250 to average 28 points per game
30:43plus 300 to average 30 points per game plus 1400 i don't think you want jalen brunson to be doing
30:48that much scoring on the next that i might worry a little bit about especially coming off the injury
30:52and the surgery and all that stuff 26 and 26 each of the last two years and 28.7 before
30:57that and then
30:58to become a scoring champion uh plus 8 000 i also just don't see that if that happens i'd be
31:05alarmed
31:06i'd be like yo where's everybody else like you might have had too many injuries for you to like
31:12that yeah um on the scoring front i again i would say i don't i don't love any of those

31:20think there's is there a world we can know 28 i don't love any of these i think when you

31:24the 20 and 30 i think you might as well flush the money down the toilet i probably just wouldn't

32:07see if we're saying about the regular season how they're gonna treat it like i just that's where
32:12i'm like they gotta be a 55 plus win team top seed in the east so so my rationale last

32:20knicks are really good then he's gonna have a media push because they're the knicks and what ended up
32:28happening was they were kind of they were kind of really good but then they were kind of
32:32inconsistent up and down maddening you know we had the famous jonathan mackrey rant which is an
32:38all-timer during the season um and and understandably so at the time he said it right like completely
32:45understandably so and like the way the season transpired it just wasn't really in the cards
32:51so now that you want a championship it's like okay how are voters gonna feel about this because that's
32:57ultimately what you're looking at and how is he going to produce so i i think 4 000 is still
33:03good
33:03odds considering okay if you expect them to be a top two three team in the east he'll be in
33:07the
33:07conversation as long as he's healthy and as long as he's healthy is right at the key here and look
33:12at who's ahead of him so wendy's the wendy's plus 150 which is kind of insane like it's really short
33:18number luca plus 400 yoke is plus 500 think about the numbers those guys put up like that's the thing
33:24too like jalen brunson it's not like he averages 20 right after that 550 yeah that that's that's
33:31the narrative around this they're tired of him they're tired they're like back to back now you
33:35gotta really do something in a row you know and think about the like all those guys put up gaudier
33:41numbers which is why clutch player of the year kind of makes more sense he's actually i think he's a
33:45favorite to win clutch player of the year plus 750 but that's his reputation right it's like he might
33:50not be the best player overall for a lot of people for most people but in the fourth quarter when

33:57matters there's arguably nobody better right like that's that's kind of the reputation so if you're
34:03leading into that like because wendy's gonna put up whatever he's gonna put up 25 12 lead the league
34:09in blocks luca may average close to triple double yokich may average close to triple double
34:14shay is gonna do like his 32 five and five and be super efficient janice is fifth he could put
34:19up big
34:20numbers also yeah the numbers the number i agree with you on the numbers it's almost like even if
34:25we say dale brunson's around with you last year like around 26 a game right yeah he has some similar
34:30numbers i think what it would take is literally 10 assists like literally he would i'm not even
34:36gonna go he would need the tennis i'm not even gonna go to the numbers i'm saying for let's say

34:39numbers are almost identical to what he put up in the regular season last year let's say it's 26 and
34:44seven what he's gonna need to push the narrative further is yes gaudier numbers would help like
34:49with the assists i agree with you but what he would need to push it further is the knicks would
34:53have to be really damn good like 61 if they're a 60 win team and he has those numbers coming

35:00the championship and they're looking like they are at the time people will say this if they have 60
35:04wins look like they're gonna go right back to the finals that that's the way he gets him now
35:09i think the better value bet is the clutch player of the year because you said fits in his mmo

35:14probably see jalen brunson still averaging the same amount of numbers that he put up last year and having a
35:18lot of clutch buckets and still killing the fourth quarter we've known this we've seen this movie
35:22before he could do it again i agree with you there's nobody better than the nba that you trust
35:26with the ball in the hands in the fourth quarter to go get it done a lot of the doubters
35:31also going to
35:31say hey a small guard yes there's still gonna be these doubters can't get this done can't win mvp
35:38if you feel like proving those doubters wrong and i understand why and you want to also earn some money
35:42off of it i would say this is also is not a debt that you can say for a long
35:48shot have some fun with
35:49it maybe sprinkle a couple dollars down like brian did last year on him to win mvp why not if
35:54it hits
35:55and all these things work well you'll be happy the next 160 games and the charge of it and you
36:00might
36:01get some dollars in your pocket and he still also might win clutch player the year award because all
36:05these things can be true he can still average like 26 still hit tons of clutch shots and the next
36:09can win 60 games which i don't think because i don't think they're going to take the regular
36:12season that seriously but and the nba is better this year it looks like yeah but you need all
36:17these things happen forget even 60 games i think they would have to have best record in the league
36:20or one of the two best right yeah or at least in the east at least in the east but
36:24even so like
36:24the west you people think there might be two 61 teams coming out of the west which we already seen
36:29which with okay so so we'll we'll see how how all that goes but yeah i think the best bet
36:36for me is
36:36i would go clutch player of the year over mvp 750 plus 750 for clutch player of the year plus

38:16high on this other crop or people are really high on this other crop of teams i should say so

38:23like okay people are sleeping on the knicks now it's time to go back on them watch it watch the
38:26value and you know it's all the stuff in the nba it's just one winning streak away one losing streak
38:31away from these odds and injuries one way or the other so it's all interesting do you care about
38:35jose alvarado plus 15 000 to win six man of the year no but you are gonna you are gonna
