00:00Tonight is game two of the NBA Finals, and while the New York Knicks are focused on stealing a
00:05second game from the San Antonio Spurs while in Texas, bean counters in New York are preparing
00:11for a huge influx of cash. New York City's Economic Development Corporation says that
00:17the Knicks' storied run through the postseason has already generated over $200 million for the
00:23city's economy through tickets, concessions, merchandise, transit, and lodging. They are
00:29predicting, but number to more than double to an estimated $465 million through the championship
00:36round. They point to fans expanding their blue and orange wardrobes to cheer on Jalen Brunson and crew
00:42and also spending cash on food and drink, maybe as a cure for game-watching anxiety.
00:47Just one example, Mustang Harry's, a well-known watering hole just steps from the Knicks'
00:53Madison Square Garden home court, says they've seen a 60% surge in business since the playoffs
00:59began and had been reaching their 300-person capacity every game night. Owner Ian Conroy says
01:05he even bought a bunch of new TVs for his business to help provide the best fan experience possible.
