Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase are joined by Buffalo Bills center Connor McGovern for his bi-weekly appearance on Monday mornings. The guys get McGovern’s perspective on the tough 29-26 loss to the Patriots. The guys start by asking Connor what changes for him and the team following a loss, and he explains how you need to self scout properly. They also discuss how HC Joe Brady handled the loss, and what they have to do moving forward.

00:00Morning, everybody. Football Monday here on WGR, brought to you by Tim Hortons, the official coffee of the Jeremy and
00:05Joe Morning Show.
00:06Start your day strong with Tim Hortons and the Bills.
00:09We welcome in center Conor McGovern. Conor, on the broadcast on that play, they said that Josh Allen's review of
00:15Tush Pushes is simply pain.
00:18But you got another one. We know how much those are a lot of work and really tough for you.
00:22So, job well done. Hope it wasn't one of the worst ones.
00:26Oh, yeah. First, good morning. Yesterday wasn't as bad. Teams are trying to switch up a little bit how they
00:32do it.
00:34So, I'm getting hit a lot more. So, they're trying to go low on me and high.
00:37They try to spring me up almost because most teams go right behind the center.
00:41But luckily, we have a 6'5", 240-some-pound unicorn back there that can just find his hole and
00:47then just go forward.
00:49So, he's able to find the holes a little bit better outside if he needs to.
00:52So, that makes my job a little bit easier if I have to be the sacrificial lamb, you know?
00:56I've never, of course, I've never been in one of those piles.
00:58The way that the one moved yesterday, I had the thought that, is it like being in the ocean when
01:03a huge wave hits
01:04and you're just thrown wherever it's going to take you?
01:07Yeah, kind of because that was the first time ever I've done a quarterback sneak where I was the one
01:11celebrating the back of the end zone
01:13and not at the bottom of the pile.
01:14It was weird. Like, got hit.
01:15And then with Osiris Torrance, like, his momentum coming down, like, from the right
01:20and the way, like, they were trying to, like, just pick me up off the ground, the D-line.
01:25It was just, like, another wave forward and all of a sudden I was out at the end celebrating first
01:30and trying to pick up Alec off the ground.
01:32Yeah. I believe that one was from the two-yard line.
01:35Do you guys do anything different with that play if it's two yards you need instead of one or is
01:39it the same?
01:40No, our thought process was two-yard line.
01:42All right, we got two attempts to do it, so let's just go and we got on the first try.
01:47Well, we're talking about a loss counter.
01:49They're not a lot of losses.
01:51Like, if we're being honest, looking at Bill's seasons over the years, you guys win most of your games.
01:56There are some losses.
01:57How do you handle a loss?
01:59Is it any different, your postgame, your routine when you get home once it's a loss versus a win?
02:06No, routine really stays the same.
02:09Obviously, like, sometimes, like, the bruising and the soreness hurts a little bit more after a loss.
02:14But, no, really everything stays the same.
02:16You kind of do a little bit more of a, like, self-scout.
02:19Like, hey, what really went wrong?
02:21Like, a lot of times, like, after a loss, you're really down on yourself.
02:25Like, hey, this is bad, this is bad.
02:26And then you watch them and you're like, okay, there was some good in here, too.
02:29So you just have to have that perspective also.
02:31But really, overall, nothing really changes.
02:33What sticks with you the most when there is a game like this offensively?
02:37Is it three and outs?
02:38Is it sometimes a play that ends up getting missed?
02:42Yeah.
02:43Sometimes, like, it comes down to either communication or we change a play or protection and doesn't go the way
02:49we wanted it.
02:50So that really sticks with me, just specifically being a center.
02:54But then it comes down to, like, some plays, like, either someone missed a block or maybe we read a
02:59hole wrong.
03:00And just all the little things accumulate in your mind after a loss.
03:04What did you notice after going through the game yesterday and any film that you've done so far that New
03:09England did really well yesterday in defense and made it challenging?
03:13They're always stout on defense.
03:15That's who they are.
03:17They try to confuse you.
03:18I thought we did a good job of picking things up.
03:21I just wish we would have just committed to the run game a little bit more and then just gave
03:26Josh a little bit more time in some passing situations.
03:30Yeah, I saw James Cook ends up with 12 carries.
03:32It looked like things got going late.
03:34Slow start, though, for that?
03:37Yeah, like, we didn't have the success early on.
03:41Like, we were getting a couple yards here or there.
03:44We just didn't find a rhythm.
03:46And then we got into the passing game.
03:48And then once you get down, sometimes you just try to get quickly back into the game with a pass.
03:53And then it wasn't until the fourth quarter we were like, hey, let's just get back to our bread and
03:57butter, which is run and duo mid-zone, get the ball in the perimeter sometimes.
04:00And that started working.
04:02And we just got back to it too late, too fast.
04:07Connor McGovern with us on the Western Hotline.
04:09Connor, what is Joe Brady like after a loss?
04:12We heard him at the podium.
04:12We've seen him after wins.
04:15Did you know also, like, know, like, for sure, like, how he would handle that situation?
04:20And was it, again, podium, it was very similar to what the wins would have sounded like.
04:25And was that the same kind of behind the scenes?
04:27Yeah, he's always the same guy.
04:29Wins, loss.
04:30You always get the same Joe Brady.
04:32He's big on point of thumb, not the finger.
04:34So look inwards first.
04:37Don't go out there and blame this and that.
04:40Like, hey, do a full self-scout first.
04:42Then we'll talk about it.
04:43But, no, winner or loss, he's the same Joe Brady.
04:46And that's what I love about him.
04:48Divisional game, of course.
04:49Like, any deja vu of last year here?
04:52I mean, maybe it was a message going in.
04:54You have a chance to really, you know, get a big lead in the division.
04:57And the Patriots come in here to win and they do it again.
05:00Which means this race is very much back on.
05:02I don't know that you guys would have been calling the race done after four weeks.
05:04But, like, I think a lot of fans are looking at it as a bit of a missed opportunity
05:08to really have distanced yourselves in the division.
05:12Yeah, it's a divisional game.
05:14It's always going to be tough like that.
05:17And now, like, after the loss, I kind of look at it like last year.
05:20Hey, they come and beat us in our place.
05:22Now we have to go beat them at their place.
05:24Split it, you know?
05:27Do I think it's a loss of opportunity?
05:28No.
05:28It's the NFL.
05:29Like, you're going to win some, you're going to lose some.
05:31Every team's good.
05:32But I think now we just have to go in the New England later in the year and beat them.
05:37Connor, there was frustration in the crowd.
05:39You can hear it a little bit when their screen was called on 3rd and 8th.
05:42And the screens are like a talking point.
05:44Yes, I heard that, yeah.
05:45Yeah.
05:46It comes up.
05:47They came up a lot last year more so.
05:48But, like, there and, like, even that specific situation or in general,
05:52like, what kind of leads to, even in a long situation like that,
05:56where you're not, like, one or two yards from the sticks,
05:58why a play is getting checked to that or getting called?
06:01Yeah.
06:03It's all getting checked to that.
06:04Like, some people don't realize, like, we don't have the screen called.
06:09Like, we're in a pass situation.
06:11But we're in a five-man pro, and there's seven guys in blitzing threat.
06:15Sometimes there's even eight.
06:16I think yesterday it was seven at the line.
06:18We can't block seven people with five.
06:20Like, that doesn't give Josh enough time.
06:22So we got to get the ball to the perimeter.
06:24And the best way to do that was the screen.
06:26And so we come up.
06:27They're showing seven threats at the line.
06:29We only have five blockers.
06:30So we got to get the ball out.
06:31So that's how we check to a screen.
06:34Connor McGovern joining us on the Western Hotline.
06:37Bill's fall to the Patriots, 29-26 in a game in the division.
06:42You know, looking forward, Connor, it's a road trip now.
06:44Three straight home games.
06:46I feel like a lot of times people will say getting on the road is a good time
06:48for a team.
06:49Maybe it's more of a hockey thing around town, right?
06:50Get on the road.
06:51Get together.
06:53But you had three straight games at home.
06:55And I wonder if you feel like going on the road.
06:57And L.A. is a big challenge.
06:58But, you know, maybe feels a little bit good to get away for a little bit.
07:03Yeah, it's always nice to play with.
07:04Like, I like that feeling beyond the road.
07:08Like, you're getting booed.
07:11It's always just been fun to me.
07:13Like, going into another stadium and silencing it.
07:16And we're going to be out in the West Coast for two weeks straight.
07:18So, I think that's just a really good opportunity for us to regroup.
07:23Like, find our footing as a team.
07:25Just spend a lot of time together because we're going to stay out on the West Coast
07:29when we play Vegas.
07:30So, I think it's just going to be a good time.
07:33Be around all the guys.
07:35And then we can really find ourselves as a team again and get ourselves going.
07:39And, you know, speaking of that, like, now that you go out West,
07:41the sound might be an issue for the offense instead of the defense.
07:44D'Alford said that, you know, the defense might have some trouble communicating
07:48in these home games.
07:49You're going to L.A. and also to Vegas.
07:51You've already been to Houston, which is pretty loud.
07:54Do you feel like when it comes to communication, you know,
07:56I'll ask you to speak if you can for offense and defense here,
07:58that time on task and time with the group you have is the antidote to being,
08:05I guess, affected by noise?
08:06Because the defense, of course, is in its first year of a new scheme
08:09where on offense you guys have been together for a while.
08:12Yeah, 100% agree.
08:13Like, that's exactly what I was going to say.
08:15So it's nice that, especially running the offensive line,
08:18the majority of us has played so many steps together.
08:21Like, four out of the five of us have played four years together.
08:25Josh with us, the majority of the offense has been together
08:27for multiple years.
08:29So that really helps us, like, with call, like, me and Josh on the same page.
08:33So, like, the O-line knows how I think.
08:35We all know how each other think.
08:36We know how we step.
08:38We kick step.
08:39Like, we're all in unison.
08:40So that really helps us, like, dial in what we exactly need.
08:44We're good about getting to the ball fast to try to, like, discover the defense
08:48to see what they're showing.
08:49And then vice versa on the defense, yeah, it's a little bit slower
08:53at the start at the beginning of the year just because it's a brand-new defense.
08:56A lot of guys are learning a new system.
08:57A lot of new guys are in.
08:58And so there's a lot more communication that has to be done.
09:01And at home, it's kind of hard to do when we have the radiest fans in the league
09:05and it's constantly hitting 120 decibels.
09:08So that's hard to do.
09:09So on the road, it's nice when it's quiet so they can actually communicate.
09:13And I think that's really going to help them.
09:15How's it gone for Alec Anderson jumping in there?
09:16I mean, he's been a part of this offensive line for a couple years also.
09:19So, I mean, there'd probably be some familiarity.
09:21But it's his first time as a full-time starter.
09:22How do you feel like he's done stepping in that spot?
09:26Good.
09:27He's doing a good job coming into his own.
09:29He had big shoes to fill with David Edwards leaving.
09:31But he's done a great job.
09:33He's fully getting better each week.
09:35He's done a great job with communication, helping Dion out,
09:38making sure he's on the same page,
09:39and just being like my second pillar out there,
09:42just relaying calls, turnaround on the road.
09:46Sometimes we get threat when we're on the road and I can't turn around
09:50because the refs think that's like I'm signaling for a snap.
09:53So there's times we get that, that he's back there,
09:55like turn around talking to Josh, and he's comfortable with that.
09:58And then you see all the clips each week of him finishing blocks,
10:02bringing that ferociousness to the line and just that extra spark.
10:07And that's what we love about him.
10:08I'm not sure if you've faced him before.
10:10And he might not even play.
10:12He didn't play yesterday.
10:13But have you gone up against Aaron Donald before?
10:15I have, yes, back when I played guard with the Cowboys.
10:18I played him.
10:19He is an elite, elite, elite player.
10:22I was going to say, describe the experience if you could.
10:26Um, yeah, it's hard to put in the words, but he is a fantastic player.
10:31Like he's one of those guys that already is like, as soon as you set on him,
10:35like he's already got two to three moves predetermined how you set them.
10:38And it's just, you have to react at him at the same time.
10:42But like, he might be smaller, but he's very powerful and quick.
10:45And there's not many D-linemen ever built like him.
10:48And he has the power to go.
10:50Like, there will be times in the game where he's over the left tackle,
10:52then he goes to the left guard, over the center, right guard, the right tackle.
10:55Like, he has the ability to just line up wherever he wants,
10:58and then he can wreck the game from there.
10:59So you have to really keep an eye on him.
11:03Connor McGovern on the Western Hotline.
11:04Connor, thanks for the time.
11:06Best of luck.
11:07Enjoy the trip out west.
11:08And, you know, come back with a couple of wins.
11:11Damn straight.
11:12We look forward to it.
11:13Thank you, guys.
11:13Connor McGovern.
11:14Thanks, Connor.
11:14Bill's center on the Western Hotline.
11:16Bill's at the Rams, Monday Night Football.
11:18And then they'll stay there for the Vegas, who looks like a regular team.
11:25They look like a regular team.
11:27They'll compete for a playoff spot by the end of the year.
11:30One thing about that game, J.J. Watt is, I'm starting to agree with everyone.
11:34I think he's really good in the booth.
11:36J.J. Watt gives a lot of good perspective.
11:38He gave a good spot here when Kenneth Walker ripped like a 70-yard run
11:42on one of the plays that Max Crosby was off the field.
11:46And he pointed out that they ran right where he is because he wasn't on the field.
11:50And they went for 70 yards, and it's probably killing him on the sideline.
11:53He wants to be in there on every play.
11:55He comes off, and he watches that happen.
11:58And, you know, you're the great player who has to come off for a couple plays.
12:02And, oof, that hurts.
12:05So, Vegas looks pretty good, but maybe you can run on him.
12:08He was mad last year that they were taking – well, that was – they weren't dressing him for games.
12:12Remember?
12:12That's where, like, all devolved last year with him and the team.
12:16I mean, the Raiders, they have guys that make plays that you've never heard of that are like –
12:23this Cody White for them for the first couple games.
12:25Like, he's just making, like, three plays a game.
12:27And Bowers – Bowers is just unbelievable.
12:31Like, he is – he is what I was hoping Kincaid was on his way to,
12:36but Bowers doesn't have two weeks like Kincaid just had.
12:39Bowers gets hurt, so there's that.
12:41I mean, Kincaid –
12:42Like, Kincaid – this is what I was wondering yesterday in pregame.
12:45Like, if you're going to be one of the best tight ends in football,
12:47you don't really go missing for even, like, two games at a time.
12:50Like, maybe one in a while here, but you're a part of every game to some degree.
12:55And, same, like, I don't know what New England did to him.
12:59Were they double covering him?
13:01Was there some bracket in the middle of the field?
13:03Like, why wasn't he more involved?
13:04Because I thought what could be different when Moore would be injured this year from,
13:10oh, they're not just the same offense as last year where they're throwing screens
13:14and they have to run the ball and that's, like, their whole bread and butter,
13:16is, well, Kincaid's healthy.
13:18And if Kincaid is healthy, that gives me a downfield threat, big play threat
13:22that is a matchup problem for defenses.
13:25And yesterday Moore goes down.
13:27Who would you want Moore to step up in that situation than Kincaid?
13:31And he just wasn't a part of it.
13:33And Coleman had to do it, and Coleman did as good as he could.
13:36But you needed both of them, I think.
13:38One catch for seven yards without Moore, you just can't have that.
13:43Billy in Toronto.
13:44Billy, good morning.
13:45You're on Football Monday.
13:48Hey, guys.
13:49Yeah, listen.
13:50I'm kind of shocked at what Connor said about, well, you know, the game didn't mean anything.
13:56I mean, is he kidding me?
13:57I certainly don't think he said that.
13:59No, but he meant, well, it's just another game and it's the foot.
14:02I mean, you win this game, you've got a huge lead.
14:05Now you're just one game ahead of New England and they got the tie factor.
14:11I mean, this was a very important game.
14:14Listen, how I see this is very simply put.
14:18I've said it a million times calling your shows.
14:20We're going to have to win games 35-28, 42-35.
14:26That's our MO.
14:27And today we just got outscored.
14:29Simple as that.
14:29What I didn't like, and I know our defense isn't that great.
14:33It's going to take a while for these guys to gel because a lot of them are new.
14:36But, I mean, listen, sometimes you've got to look at the other quarterback.
14:41And I was saying when I – I was saying, please don't play this bend but not break defense.
14:47Because I'll tell you what, this quarterback, when he gets – when he gets – you know, you send a
14:54house at him.
14:54He is terrible and he's looked terrible the whole year.
14:58But, no, we let him sit up in the pocket and let him throw the ball around the field.
15:02God, I can complete those passes.
15:04I thought we should have blitzed them all over the stadium.
15:07If they get a big one for a touchdown, so what?
15:10We know Josh can go right back down and score and get it back.
15:14And, you know, finally about Josh.
15:17I've never had a bad thing to say about him.
15:19But I'm going to say something here.
15:21You know, Josh, you're a great winner.
15:25You talk, you do everything.
15:27You know, you're great with the press and stuff like that.
15:30And me being one of the biggest sore losers there is, I can see that.
15:35But, I mean, these quick little three- and four-word answers and even crying sometimes.
15:39I mean, Josh, you've got to come out here and explain it a little better while the safety came over
15:45and that's that.
15:46But, I mean, come on, Josh, you're the leader of this team.
15:50And you've got to show a little bit more, especially when we lose a football game.
15:54That's all I got, guys.
15:55Thanks, Billy.
15:56I just need everyone to tell me.
15:58I need someone to define what bend but don't break actually is.
16:01Is it just when your team gives up touchdowns?
16:04Are they playing bend but don't break?
16:06Isn't the concept that they're not playing bend but don't break?
16:08Isn't the touchdown pass to Romeo Dobbs on Max Harrison not bending but don't break?
16:14It's just I feel like bend but don't break is more you're giving up a lot of yards, but you're
16:17not giving up the touchdowns.
16:19Okay.
16:19Well, they gave up four touchdowns on four drives.
16:21Yesterday was not that.
16:22No.
16:23Drake May blitz him.
16:24He's terrible against the Blitz.
16:25Last year's third in the NFL against the Blitz.
16:27He's good against the Blitz.
16:29He's probably still good.
16:31He looked good yesterday.
16:32He had a bad month.
16:33When I think about the toughest quarterbacks the Bills have to play, May would be on the list.
16:39He's probably good.
16:40And if you don't have a secondary, you're in trouble.
16:43Who has a secondary?
16:45Seattle.
16:46Who has a secondary?
16:47Jacksonville.
16:48But it's a problem the Bills don't have a secondary.
16:50Oh, it's a big problem.
16:51They've invested in the secondary.
16:52Trust me.
16:53That's a big problem.
16:54I'm stuck on this endless, let's stop being bend but don't break.
16:58What's the other thing?
17:00Blitzing every play like Brian Flores does?
17:02Is that what you want?
17:03They did that against Houston and they never got home.
17:06And they gave up a bunch of points.
17:09They have not been blitzing a lot this year comparative to the league.
17:12And also comparative to last year.
17:14Is it because they don't trust their corners that are out there to hold for a second?
17:17I think so.
17:18It might be.
17:20Bend but don't break just seems to be this thing we throw around all the time.
17:23They're specifically not bend but don't break.
17:25In fact, they gave up touchdowns or three and outs.
17:29Jim Leonard complained earlier in the offseason that they're too boom or bust.
17:34Isn't that the opposite of bend but don't break?
17:36Right.
17:37He was, I don't know.
17:39They need a little more bend but don't break right now.
17:41Bend but don't break is give up the yards and get the other team off the field.
17:46I don't know.
17:47I think that they're giving up way too many plays in the passing game.
17:49EPA per drop back is where?
17:5130th?
17:52Ooh, it's...
17:52That's not bend but don't break.
17:54Bend but don't break is get beat in the run game and make stops in the pass game,
17:58which is what they've been for, you know, nine years.
17:59And that is a good formula.
18:01If you are going to be bad at one, you'd much rather be bad against the run.
18:06The returns are far lower.
18:09Bad against the pass will never win.
18:12You got to figure that out.
18:13If you don't get better against the pass, you're doomed.
18:16You will never find a team that wins the Super Bowl that's bad on pass defense.
18:22You almost never find that.
18:24Maybe the Chiefs were that one year in 2022.
18:26You can't stop the pass.
18:28Like Billy said, though, you better expect to win 35-31.
18:33Yeah, they are 26th in EPA against the pass on defense.
18:36That is dreadful.
18:39Dreadful.
18:41Yeah, that's...
18:42It's not a good trade.
18:44It's not a good trade to be good against the run and bad against the pass.
18:46You would never make that trade.
18:47And...
18:48You shouldn't.
18:49I don't know.
18:49You want to be good at both, but if you have to pick one, the pass.
18:52Especially with a team like this that's supposed to score points and lean on the other team.
18:56But you pointed out earlier, this team, this Bills team, down 21-17, got three possessions and got three points.
19:05That's one point per possession.
19:06You know who was doing one point per possession coming into this game?
19:09That was New England's offense.
19:11The worst in the league.
19:13For a three-possession stretch, down 21-17, you became the worst offense in the league.
19:19You can tell me all about your bend, but don't break defense.
19:22I saw them get a couple turnovers.
19:23I saw them make stops, force punts.
19:26Really wimpy punts.
19:27And your offense didn't do anything with it.
19:29And I don't really know where this change in defense...
19:31There's a lot of talk of, well, I think the youth part could be made,
19:35because they are the youngest defense in football.
19:37But, well, the coaching change and the scheme change and guys are being square pegs around holes.
19:42But what is really, truly even that different?
19:45Because they are playing a different line formation when they're in the front seven.
19:50But they're playing as much zone as they ever have before.
19:54They're not suddenly this man-heavy offense.
19:56They're not.
19:57They're not suddenly blitzing at an incredibly high rate.
20:00They actually don't even need to.
20:01Some of it is probably they don't trust the corners, but another part of it is they're getting pressure without
20:07blitzing.
20:07Why do I need to blitz?
20:09Rousseau's getting after the quarterback like every other play.
20:12So, I think it just might be that the players aren't very good.
20:16And that's a problem.
20:17Because you've drafted them pretty highly or you've paid them.
20:21And I don't know that there's something that the coach could do that would just suddenly make Max Hairston a
20:28better corner
20:29or make IGB more ready to play right now or make – is Cole Bishop?
20:34Like, I thought this ascension of Cole Bishop into one of the better safeties in football was happening.
20:38He's getting beat in these games.
20:40He was a guy in a zone yesterday that let up a third down because he got lost on where
20:45Romeo Dobbs was.
20:47Bishop's one – and maybe he's a positive story here – this time last year, we were waiting for Bishop.
20:53He didn't even really have the starting job nailed down until the start of the season.
20:57Makes a big play against the Saints, which is, I think, week four.
21:00And then from there, became the guy.
21:02Maybe he just needs a couple more weeks in this system to figure it out.
21:05Like, Bishop's got a lot of talent.
21:07I think there's a lot there.
21:08But, right, none of it's actually linking up.
21:11None of it seems to be working right now.
21:12But I'd love to hear, like, what is it about the system that it's making it so much harder for
21:17these guys
21:18that were – like, Benford was better before.
21:21Bishop seemed better before.
21:23Hairston is new enough where maybe you don't want to play the game with him.
21:26Like, what is it that it's making it so much harder for them?
21:31Because it's not the personnel they went up against.
21:33They went up against Romeo, Dobbs, and Chisholm.
21:35Right.
21:35Like, Chisholm and Matt Collins.
21:37Matt Collins got hurt.
21:38Right.
21:38Like, so yesterday, that wasn't it.
21:40Well, it's a tough thing to navigate because, again, they felt they needed to change their defense.
21:48All that really matters is how the defense plays in the divisional round of the playoffs
21:52or the AFC Championship game.
21:53They could be the 26th dropback EPA defense the whole year.
21:57And if they get to that game and play good, job well done.
22:00That's it.
22:01You could be number one EPA per dropback up until that game.
22:04And you get roasted, you failed.
22:06So, I'm always going to want to maintain that as all that actually matters from the defense
22:11is what they do in the most important game of the season.
22:14They can't get roasted for 30 points again.
22:16That said, if we get to that spot and they do, or if they're a wild card team, which I
22:22don't think they will be.
22:22I think they'll still win the division.
22:23I think they're probably fine.
22:25But if we get to the end of the season and it's, well, the defense needed a full year to
22:29bake in.
22:31Okay.
22:32That's a decision that you made.
22:33That's a reasonable thing to say, but it's also not exactly going to hit well that I
22:38used a prime year of my quarterback, who's now 30, on a defense that needed to kind of
22:43bake in rather than have one that was more prepared.
22:47And that also isn't unique to them.
22:49There are a lot of, I mean, Baltimore has a brand new defensive coaching staff this year.
22:55You know, the Raiders this year, brand new defensive coaching staff.
22:59Not everybody's going well.
23:00Chargers, it's going really poorly, right?
23:01So some other teams are dealing with what you're dealing with.
23:03The Packers.
23:04The Packers are back.
23:05Jonathan Gannon, new coordinator.
23:07Not good.
23:08So the Niners have Morris back.
23:11That's a guy that was there before.
23:13You're not new to, like, well, we changed our defense.
23:17Half the league has a new coordinator.
23:19And probably 10 of those teams, it's a very different scheme than what they had before.
23:24At least half of them.
23:25It's not everybody.
23:27So the idea that, like, well, I have to be bad this year because I have a different scheme
23:31and a new coach.
23:32Like, I don't feel like that should be something that people subscribe to.
23:37Any interest in Skylar Bell?
23:40Kind of forgot about Skylar Bell.
23:41Skylar Bell in for Josh Palmer.
23:44Anybody want that?
23:45Want to try that on?
23:46Again, three yards on the seven targets that aren't the touchdowns is pretty tough.
23:50I mean, Bell, what is Palmer out there to do, though, also?
23:53So, like, stretch the field.
23:54Stretch the field.
23:56And, I mean, he's getting deep touchdowns and deep targets.
24:01Right.
24:038-0-3-0-5-50.
24:04Wouldn't Bell get those also?
24:05Maybe.
24:06He might not have the straight line speed.
24:08He's not thought of as a vertical guy, even though he did show some of that in college.
24:11Right.
24:12We're going to break in more of your phone calls.
24:16Morose Monday.
24:16We're fine.
24:17It's fine.
24:18Same thing happened last year.
24:20And the year before.
24:21The difference will be the Patriots.
24:22Yes, their schedule lightens up.
24:24They could lose next week.
24:25They've never won more than...
24:26They've never started hotter than 4-0.
24:28The Bills?
24:29Yep.
24:304-0 was their best start.
24:32Under Josh Allen.
24:33Yeah.
24:33So, they always start hot.
24:34And they always lose early.
24:36Right around here.
24:36Right around here.
24:38Welcome to it.
24:40Patriots-Raiders next week.
24:42Hmm?
24:43That's a common opponent.
24:44They'll each play in the next two weeks.
24:46Important for the Raiders.
24:47The Patriots win and the Bills lose to the Rams.
24:49You're in second place.
24:53Yeah.
24:54Right.
24:54You're in second place.
24:56Man.
24:57My, how it changes quickly.
25:00We should talk about the two-point conversion play call at some point, too.
25:03Into it.
25:03What happened there?
25:04That was a Palmer target.
25:04It doesn't go on the stat sheet.
25:06Hit him in the legs?
25:07Yeah.
25:07Not good.
25:10Open phone line for you.
25:11Jeremy and Joe on WTR.
25:12You're in third place.
25:12You're in third place.
25:12You're in third place.
25:12You're in third place.
25:13You're in third place.
25:13You're in third place.
25:13You're in third place.
25:13You're in third place.
25:14You're in third place.
25:14You're in third place.
