00:35Welcome to Northern California, we're in the Shark Tank for San Jose Shark Hockey.

01:22St. Petersburg's got possession back here in the defensive zone.
01:26Here's a pass to Johansson.
01:29Oh, watch out!
01:31That's a big hit.
01:33They're a physical team, you wouldn't expect anything less.
01:37Lorenz can't quite connect on that pass.
01:40Quickly moves it to Toffoli.
01:45St. Petersburg's got possession along the boards.
01:53San Jose's got the puck now.
01:56And now he moves it to Celebrini.
01:58And he moves it to Toffoli.
02:00Shot denied!
02:02What a smart save there.
02:04Not only does he make the stop, he steers it right to the corner and out of danger.
02:09Puck comes out and no look to regroup in the neutral zone.
02:13Whistle blows and we're offside.
02:16Let's go to the replay and get a closer look at that last hit.
02:19This is the kind of contact that gets everybody's attention.
02:22Strong through the body, finishes the check, and really changes the temperature of the game.
02:28Just getting started here in the frame.
02:310-0, a scoreless affair right now.
02:36San Jose's won the draw and play continues here.
02:40Puck dumped in.
02:42Here comes the pressure.
02:44St. Petersburg's got it now.
02:46And he serves it across to Zari.
02:48And he fires it to Nyquist.
02:50Can't collect that dish.
02:52St. Petersburg grit really showing.
02:54They take the puck now.
02:56Pass intercepted.
02:57And that's taken by Tucker.
03:02Marchment.
03:08Ozone pressure continues as he takes the puck.
03:11Shot!
03:12Nice denial there.
03:14Play is stopped.
03:16And he'll take the face off.
03:27The Sharks win the draw and they have it.
03:30Karinovic.
03:32Loose puck and now a race to get there.
03:35Whistle blows.
03:36That's an icing.
03:38Face off at the other end.
03:43Still in the early stages of this period.
03:46And we are scoreless.
03:470-0.
03:50The draw is won.
03:52And they take possession.
03:53That's a big win in the Dots after the icing call.
03:56That gives them a chance to get it out and change.
04:01Nice pass along the blue line.
04:04Lose it up to Harris.
04:06Harris.
04:07And he quickly goes to Hustedinov.
04:12Karinovic.
04:13Save!
04:15The crew have gained control along the wall.
04:25San Jose is taking it into possession of the puck here.
04:31St. Petersburg's picked it up along the wall.
04:34Picks it up and looks to make a play.
04:39Harris.
04:41Off the glove and out!
04:43He absorbed that contact but never lost the puck.
04:45That's not easy at all when a defender's leaning on you and giving you a shove.
04:49But he stays strong and gets a quality chance on net.
04:52Midway point of the period in sight.
04:54Quiet start.
04:560-0.
04:57The Sharks come up with the defensive zone draw and they'll take possession.
05:01Gloved away!
05:03And now he passes it over to Gregor.
05:06Can't connect there.
05:09Talor.
05:10Now it's over to Hallander.
05:13Sweet little dish there.
05:15Say!
05:16Just got enough of that one.
05:19Up high received at the point.
05:22Gets it with the glove.
05:24Gets the whistle.
05:25And he'll take the face off.
05:30Both teams set for the next face off.
05:38The Sharks win the draw in their own end and they'll take possession.
05:43Here he comes and all alone!
05:46Chance denied by the goalie!
05:49That's a big time save and he wins that one-on-one battle.
05:54In front!
05:55Save!
05:56Great glove positioning there.
05:58The whistle blows.
06:00Gets the stoppage.
06:01And he'll take the face off.
06:04Johansson's come up with a tremendous save.
06:06That's a high danger chance he was able to shut down and you can see it on the replay.
06:10I like that he didn't panic at all.
06:11He tracked it beautifully.
06:13Stayed composed in the crease.
06:14And read it perfectly to rise to the challenge.
06:18Middle of the frame.
06:20Fast approaching.
06:21Dead even.
06:22No goals yet.
06:25Face off win here in the defensive zone.
06:28Now to Marchment.
06:30Just a bit out of reach.
06:35Sherwood!
06:36Kept out with the paddle!
06:38That's exactly what you want from your goaltender there.
06:41A low slot chance and he tracks it beautifully to come up with the stop.
06:50San Jose's won the draw.
06:52They take control.
06:53Blocked in front.
06:54Never saw that one coming.
06:57And nicely to Lorentz.
07:03Picked off.
07:04Nice read by Graff.
07:09Up taken behind the net.
07:11San Jose's got it back in the defensive zone.
07:14St. Petersburg's got the puck back along the boards.
07:18Quickly up to Sherwood.
07:20And here's a pass to Orloff.
07:24Graff.
07:25Left!
07:26And he makes the save.
07:29Johansson's made the save and steered that.
07:30And hold on here, partner.
07:31That's going to be a penalty on the play.
07:33Whistle blows and looks like the referee is signaling a penalty coming up here.
07:41Yeah, that's going to be a slashing minor there.
07:43And those are the ones that drive coaches crazy.
07:46When you stop moving your feet and you reach in with your stick,
07:48the official's going to make that call every time.
07:52Face off in the offensive zone.
07:54First power play chance of the game.
07:56Yeah, and this is a real important one here for a first look at the power play.
08:00Scoreless game.
08:01Chance to grab a little momentum right off the draw.
08:04Walker saved by Askarov.
08:07And that screws quickly to Smith.
08:10And the puck is covered up.
08:12Here we go!
08:17Oh, and he tags him flush.
08:19Down and out.
08:20That last punch landed clean.
08:22And once he hit, this one was finished.
08:40So, players back in position here and the power play will resume.
08:46The Sharks win the draw and take possession.
08:51The crew have the puck along the board.
08:56Just got a piece of that one.
09:04Players getting into position, getting ready for this next face off.
09:10San Jose's won the face off and they have it.
09:13Do they look like they're ready for what the game is?
09:29It's But I even know what to do.
09:36They can do it.
09:42They're just doing it.
09:43up with it now.
09:45Kuck picked up in the defensive zone.
09:47They'll head up the ice on the power play.
09:49Tape to tape to Nyquist.
09:52Just got enough
09:53of that one.
09:55Out it comes, and the
09:57zone is cleared.
09:59Kuck picked up. Power play continues,
10:01but they'll change some of the personnel
10:03up front.
10:05Marchment. Kuck escapes
10:07the zone, so they'll retreat to the neutral
10:09zone. The linesman blows the whistle.
10:11That's offside.
10:14Players all set
10:15for the face-off, and the power
10:17play will resume.
10:20And they win the neutral
10:21zone draw, and they'll start up.
10:24Loose puck,
10:25and now a race to get there.
10:27The crew have picked it up along
10:29the board.
10:32And he feeds it
10:33now to Johansson.
10:35Sends it over!
10:37Whips. Can't handle that pass.
10:40Kuck checked
10:41away now on the forecheck.
10:43Picked off by D'Landrio.
10:46Moves the puck across
10:47to Sherwood.
10:51St. Petersburg's turn with the puck
10:53now.
10:55Now a quick pass to
10:56Hustadinov.
10:58Power play over,
10:59and we're back to even strength here.
11:03That's a missed opportunity right there,
11:05partner, because when you hop over the boards
11:07with the man advantage, you're expected to tilt
11:09things your way.
11:10But instead, this group heads back knowing they didn't
11:12cash in.
11:13Both teams getting set,
11:15and the linesman is set to drop the puck again.
11:21Can't quite connect on that pass.
11:26St. Petersburg's got possession along the boards.
11:34The Sharks take over possession.
11:39Toffoli, he gets a piece of the pad on that one.
11:42All the new St. Petersburg's are choosing
11:44his Sharks.
11:45Hustadinov.
11:46He goes.
11:56Offensive zone.
11:57Face-off one.
11:59Picks up the puck, and the pressure continues.
12:01And a big-time block on the play.
12:04That's a solid effort to negate a great scoring chance.
12:07Disrupts the possession with the poke check.
12:10Well, this is just an outstanding poke check.
12:12That's not an easy play for a defender in a high-danger area.
12:15You have to stay calm, have an active stick,
12:17and make sure your timing is perfect to break up that
12:19scoring chance.
12:24St. Petersburg picked it up along the wall.
12:27Crisp short pass to Mikheyev.
12:30Shot!
12:30Tipped out with the glove.
12:33Play is stopped.
12:34We'll regroup and get ready for another face-off.
12:38Final stretch here before the break.
12:40No score in this one so far.
12:46The Sharks win the face-off, and they have the puck now.
12:51San Jose's got the puck back along the boards.
12:54The crew have taken it back here.
12:57Hangs on to that puck.
12:58We'll get ready for another face-off as the whistle blows.
13:10San Jose's won the draw, and they take possession.
13:17Sends it over!
13:18Sends it over!
13:19Cadet!
13:19That's blocked!
13:21A solid play to get in the lane.
13:24That pass just out of reach.
13:27Crisp short pass to Hallander.
13:30San Jose's picked it up and has possession.
13:36Oh, not quite to Lorne.
13:43There's the return pass.
13:46And there it goes now to Chisholm.
13:50Chisholm.
13:52And he sends it across to Tucker.
13:55Oh, arm in the air.
13:56Delayed penalty.
13:57That looked like a slash.
13:59Goalie to the bench.
14:00Extra attacker on.
14:02He'll try to take advantage.
14:04There's the whistle.
14:05Here comes the official call from the referee.
14:09Oh, that's a blatant slash.
14:11Ooh, that's going to leave a mark, too, on the opposition.
14:13But in the meantime, he's headed to the penalty box.
14:15That's two minutes.
14:25St. Petersburg special teams once again can make a contribution.
14:28They go on the man advantage again.
14:31Can they win the draw in their own end?
14:34St. Petersburg's got possession now.
14:37Smith!
14:37And that shot stopped!
14:40Gets the whistle.
14:41Play is stopped.
14:42And we'll get ready for another face-off.
14:45So the players getting into position here for this face-off
14:48as the penalty kill resumes.
14:52St. Petersburg's won the draw.
14:57They send it back to the point.
15:00Smith passes it off.
15:14Marchment!
15:15Keeps it out with the glove.
15:18Play is stopped.
15:19And he'll take the face-off.
15:24Blinding down here in this period.
15:26Still zeros across the board.
15:33Offensive zone draw is successful.
15:36Fed up top and handled at the point.
15:42Now he sends it down below the goal line.
15:45Puck comes outside the zone,
15:46and they'll have to regroup in the neutral zone.
15:53The crew have gained control along the wall.
15:58Puck picked up by the PK unit looking to ice it.
16:03St. Petersburg's got the puck back now.
16:07One minute to go now in the opening period.
16:10They glide in the D zone,
16:12and he sends it to Zari.
16:14Oh, can't play connect.
16:16Takes the puck now in the O zone.
16:19Good save there.
16:21San Jose's puck now.
16:23And they'll look to kill this penalty.
16:27Pissed over to Zari.
16:29Zari.
16:32Here's the pass.
16:35Sets it over.
16:39Gets it back up top here.
16:41Just fixed his equipment.
16:43Gets the whistle,
16:45and he'll take the face-off.
16:49Big face-off here in the offensive zone,
16:52and they're looking to win it
16:53and fire one on a tired goalie.
16:56Yeah, after all that zone time,
16:57this is where you want to clean win, Bucci,
16:59and get it there quickly.
17:04Passes it off.
17:06Fires.
17:07Zang.
17:08The whistle blows.
17:10Gets the stoppage.
17:11And he'll take the face-off.
17:14So we are set to go here.
17:17Players in position,
17:18and the power play will resume.
17:20San Jose's won the face-off in their own end,
17:23and they have it.
17:24Click take-to-take to D'Andrea.
17:28Couldn't quite complete that pass.
17:30Penalty is over.
17:31Good job by the PK unit.
17:33We are back at even strength.
17:35Boy, there was an awful lot to like there.
17:37The power play had the puck.
17:39They created several real good opportunities,
17:41and even though it runs out on them,
17:43that's the kind of sequence
17:44that can build some confidence.
17:46And the horn sounds,
17:47and the period ends.
17:49Good one so far here tonight
17:51as the players head to their rooms,
17:53and the Zambonis will hit the ice.
17:56Back with more right after this.
18:13The Tate in position,
18:13Ajax and Vol say,
18:13You see,
18:16you see,
18:16the C CONF Always человек,
18:16and the Mags Aắpista,
18:19Good job.
18:21You see,
18:30But then,
19:06We're about to start period two here, but partner, before we do, what have you seen from this one so
19:10far?
19:11The Sharks are in one right now.
19:12I mean, it's a scoreless hockey game, but boy, they're giving the puck up an awful lot.
19:16They're going to have to manage it better, be stronger on pucks, because these turnovers are killing them.
19:21Off the cloud!
19:23And the puck is covered up.
19:25The whistle blows.
19:26And we'll get a break here until our next faceoff.
19:30Early part of this one.
19:32Nothing doing yet.
19:33We're scoreless.
19:37San Jose has won the faceoff.
19:39They've got control of the puck.
19:41And now he pushes that across to Toffoli.
19:44Dumps the puck into the offensive end.
19:48Take to take.
19:50Just out of reach.
19:51And that won't get through.
19:54What a smart save there.
19:55Not only does he make the stop, he steers it right to the corner and out of danger.
20:05Can't connect that pass there.
20:08Orlau.
20:10Takes it in the defensive zone.
20:14And he pushes that across to Smith.
20:17St. Petersburg's coming away with it in the defensive zone.
20:22Picked off.
20:27Feeds it to Smith.
20:31Has it on the point.
20:33Quick diss to Benoit.
20:36Can't quite connect there.
20:39Play is stopped.
20:40Will regroup.
20:42And get ready for another faceoff.
20:45Plenty of hockey ahead in this period.
20:480-0.
20:49A scoreless affair right now.
20:53Faceoff is won in the defensive zone.
20:58Now he moves it to Zari.
21:01St. Petersburg's puck now along the boards.
21:06Nice read.
21:07Interception.
21:08And he quickly moves it to Sherwood.
21:11Whistle blows.
21:12And that's offside.
21:19Linesman calling the players in.
21:21About to drop the puck.
21:25The Sharks win the draw and take possession.
21:28Kept out by the netminder.
21:31And he quickly goes to Marchment.
21:34Another one that doesn't get through.
21:36Too much traffic.
21:37Intercepted.
21:39Quickly up to Zari.
21:41Tucker.
21:43Marchment.
21:45Lift the stick.
21:47Takes the puck.
21:52Sweet little play there by Tucker.
21:54And he quickly moves it to Zari.
21:58Stick in the lane.
21:59Broken up.
22:03San Jose is breaking free.
22:06Breaks free.
22:07In a low.
22:09Stopped on the breakaway.
22:11What a save.
22:12He stayed right with it.
22:13And came up with a huge stop.
22:17Smith.
22:19St. Petersburg's got possession now in their own end.
22:22Looking to break out.
22:22Hope.
22:26Back to the point here.
22:28St. Petersburg's got possession along the boards.
22:34Barely got a piece of that one.
22:36Picked up along the wall by D'Andrea.
22:40Blocker saved by Ascarov.
22:42Taken over by Gardet.
22:47Hope checked away by Harris.
22:51Harris.
22:53He quickly goes to Smith.
22:58Gustafson.
22:59Looks to pass it to Gardet.
23:01Nicely up to Goudreau.
23:04Goudreau.
23:05Shot.
23:06And he shuts the door.
23:12St. Petersburg's picked it up along the wall.
23:15Arm in the air.
23:16There's a delayed penalty coming.
23:19There's the whistle.
23:20Here comes the official call from the referee.
23:24Yeah, that's interference all day long.
23:26He's trying to slow his opponent up just enough for his team to get there first.
23:29But he holds that lane and takes away the forward progress.
23:32So off he goes.
23:38Ozone face-off about to commence.
23:40First power play chance of this tilt.
23:43Yeah, and this is a real important one here for a first look at the power play.
23:46Scoreless game.
23:47Chance to grab a little momentum right off the draw.
23:52Olof.
23:52Olof.
23:53Karunovic.
23:54Backhand.
23:55Quick reflexes there.
23:56What a save.
23:58Johansson's come up with a huge save on a quality chance from the slot.
24:02On the paddle.
24:04What a save from the slot.
24:06And he comes up with a huge stop on a quality chance.
24:10Delayed penalty coming up.
24:12Here's the pass.
24:14Whistle blows.
24:16Player to the box.
24:18The obvious penalty coming up.
24:20Well, the puck's nowhere near him.
24:22That's an interference call.
24:23It's an easy one.
24:24He's going to go to the penalty box for two minutes.
24:35Big chance here.
24:36A long five-on-three power play coming right off the draw.
24:40Yeah, and this is a real opportunity here.
24:42Because with the five-on-three for the longer stretch,
24:44everything settles down.
24:46And now it's about quick puck movement and making this count.
24:50The Sharks with the puck now.
24:56San Jose's taking over possession of the puck here.
24:59Takes it away on the poke check.
25:05Passes it.
25:06Down with the glove.
25:09What a save.
25:10From the slot, that is a quality chance.
25:11And somehow he shuts the door.
25:14Johansson's been sharp.
25:15And you can see it on that last one.
25:16That's a high-danger chance.
25:18And he reads it the whole way.
25:19Stays right with it.
25:20And comes up with a really strong save at a big moment.
25:29So the player's set to go again.
25:31And the penalty kill will resume.
25:37Face-off is won in the offensive zone.
25:40Good roll.
25:42Go check by Harris.
25:43He has it now along the point.
25:46He was dialed.
25:48Hangs on to that puck.
25:50We'll get ready for another face-off as the whistle blows.
25:55On the verge of the halfway point.
25:57And we are scoreless.
25:590-0.
26:01St. Petersburg's won the defensive zone.
26:04Face-off.
26:04And they'll take control.
26:08Beautiful saucer pass there.

32:22Here's to Dino.
32:24A little too much force there.
32:26Looked like the slash arm is in the air.
32:28Delayed penalty coming.
32:30Oh, you can't take a whack at it like that.
32:32That's an obvious slashing minor penalty.
32:35He's going to go to the penalty box for two.
32:56St. Petersburg's got another chance with the man advantage.
33:00A power play opportunity.
33:02As we get set here for the face-off.
33:05Yeah, and this power play has had several chances this game.
33:08But they're still looking for that finish here.
33:10So they'll want to make the necessary adjustments to finally break through.

34:50Good start by Scott.
35:15Boy, this is all about staying with the play, Bucci, because the first chance doesn't go.
35:18But he's right on top of it.
35:20Tracks that rebound down and snaps it home before anybody else can get there.
35:39The Sharks have been getting quality over quantity in their chances.
35:44As that one goes, and late in the second period here, they get the game's first goal and lead 1
35:49-0.
35:50St. Petersburg's come up with possession now.
35:53Man advantage is gone.
35:54We're even up again.
35:56And that power play got slipped by a shorty the other way.
35:59Boy, that's a real punch in the gut for a power play unit.
36:01You've got the advantage, but somehow it ends up behind you.
36:04Now it's about simplifying, settling in, and not letting that one snowball.
36:12Toffoli, off the body.
36:14All kinds of mayhem in front of the goal.
36:17That pass just out of reach.
36:20Celebrating!
36:21And one last save!
36:26And there's the horde.

40:31San Jose's picked it up along the wall.
40:35Taken by Smith.
40:37Down they go.
40:38And that's going to be a delayed penalty.
40:40The arm is in the air.
40:41Obvious goodby.
40:42Well, behind by one goal in the hockey game, you can ill afford to go to the penalty box.
40:46But that's what happened.
40:47A little lack of discipline there.
40:48The coach won't be happy.
40:50The coach won't be happy.
40:59San Jose's special teams once again can make a contribution.
41:03They go on the man advantage again.

43:17Player back on the ice.
43:18We're back to even strength.
43:20When you're down this late, that is enormous right there.
43:23They've survived it.
43:24And now they can push knowing this game remains within reach.
43:28Kesselring.
43:30St. Petersburg grit really showing.
43:32They take the puck now.
43:34That drive catches a player out front and gets blocked.
43:38There's a big save.
43:40Kesselring.
43:44Celebrini.
43:45St. Petersburg is taking over possession of the puck here.
43:50He brings it along the wall.
43:53Battle starts up along the boards.
43:56Puck checked away from the defender.
43:59The Sharks take it now.
44:02Puck taken there by Orlov.
44:06Loose puck and now a race to get there.
44:08And we're going to have an ice scene here as the whistle blows.
44:13Johansson's come up with a massive stop on that last sequence.
44:16When you look at this again here on the replay,
44:18you can see that's a dangerous chance in tight.
44:20And he is just so composed and is able to make an outstanding save to keep it out.
44:28Right around the middle of this period, just one goal separates them, 1-0.
44:36St. Petersburg's won the draw.
44:38Off the pad!

44:56Big face-off here after the icing.
45:00Tired defenders.
45:01Maybe a tired goalie, too.
45:03And the attackers know this is the chance.
45:05They do, and that's why this draw is everything.
45:08Win it clean.
45:09Get it to the net quickly.
45:10And make that tired goalie work.
45:13Out it comes, and the zone is clear.
45:18Can't collect that dish.

48:02They're shortening the bench and loading up the scoring lines.
48:05Yeah, this is exactly when coaches do it.
48:07Trying to get their best offensive players out there to tie it up.
48:14San Jose's picked it up along the wall.
48:17Quickly up to Toffoli.
48:20Toffoli.

48:40Shot blocked at the last second.
48:42That is just outstanding commitment.
48:44And he absolutely wipes out a good chance there.
48:48Corralled by Hustedinov.
48:51The Sharks have been really strong defensively here tonight.
48:54They've done a terrific job protecting the middle of the ice.
48:56Keeping things to the outside.
48:58And now they're protecting a shutout bid late.
49:00That's a real team accomplishment.
49:01It's not just on the goaltender to achieve.

49:31Johansson's been rock solid tonight.
49:32And when you look at that save percentage, it tells the story.
49:35He's seen plenty of rubber.
49:37And with this game this tight, those saves are giving his group a chance.
49:40The Sharks take over possession.
49:43A good hit there.
49:45And now he moves it to Celebrini.
49:49Cross-ice pass to Lorenz.

50:04Timeout called here.
50:05And both benches get a chance to settle things down and talk it over for a moment.
50:09But, yeah, this is where you use that time to reset, get organized, and make sure everybody's on the same
50:15page at the bench.
50:16St. Petersburg's players and coaches told us before the game, pressure, pressure, pressure.

52:36The Sharks with perhaps the exclamation point on this one.
52:40And they get the empty net goal to extend their lead.
52:47San Jose has won the draw.
