01:44good defensive play
01:45with the stick
01:46power
01:48slides the puck
01:49across to Norris
01:51Norris
01:51steered away
01:55off the wall
01:56and completes the pass
01:58St. Petersburg's got
01:59possession now
02:00in their own end
02:01looking to break out

02:04short pass
02:04to Zucker
02:06lifts the stick
02:07takes the puck
02:09sends it up
02:10to Hustodinov

02:15deflected
02:17Talim
02:18same
02:21let's get it
02:22pick it up
02:22pick it up
02:23pick it
02:23we have a little more
02:24right
02:24let's get it
02:25Soda Blom's
02:26come up with a
02:27tremendous save
02:28that's a high danger
02:29chance he was able
02:30to shut down
02:30and you can see it
02:31on the replay
02:32I like that he
02:32didn't panic at all
02:33he tracked it
02:34beautifully
02:35stayed composed
02:36in the crease
02:36and read it
02:37perfectly to rise
02:38to the challenge
02:41lots of hockey
02:42left to be played
02:43and we are
02:44scoreless
02:450-0
02:47the Sabres
02:48win the draw
02:48and they'll look
02:49to attack
02:50quick take
02:51to take
02:51to Marchment
02:52and now he pushes
02:53that across
02:54to Tucker
02:55that stick gets
02:56extended for the
02:57poached
02:59slide the puck
03:00over to Samuelson
03:03and he's
03:04crunch
03:05that's the kind
03:06of early contact
03:07that gets everybody's
03:08attention
03:08and it can set
03:09the tone
03:09of how this game
03:10will be played
03:11ease the puck
03:12across to Zari
03:14clearly he's got
03:14a big big heart
03:15even getting to the
03:17bench
03:17without any help
03:18whatsoever
03:18because he is
03:19struggling right now
03:23Quinn's done his best
03:24to get away
03:24from that hit
03:24but there is
03:25no way
03:25to avoid
03:26that collision
03:26it was a big
03:27one
03:48face off one
03:49let's see what they can do
03:50now
03:51reaches in
03:52pops the stick up
03:53and takes the puck
03:54away
03:56Khalid
03:56steered aside
03:58what a smart save
03:59there
03:59not only does he
04:00make the stop
04:01he steers it
04:02right to the corner
04:03and out of danger
04:05quick dish to Marchment
04:11gathered at the point
04:12now
04:13here's the pass
04:15saved
04:17save
04:17sabers with the puck
04:18taken there
04:21now
04:21by Samuelson
04:23and he pushes
04:24that across
04:24to Lazar
04:25and free
04:27and that chance
04:28fizzles out
04:29yeah he gets it
04:30alone
04:30and then just
04:31can't complete
04:31the play
04:32St. Petersburg
04:33grit really showing
04:34they take the puck
04:35now
04:38Lorenz
04:38pass
04:39disrupted
04:39by the stick
04:41Dali
04:46Malenstein
04:47taken over
04:48by Johansen
04:51the sabers
04:52take it now
04:54ozone pressure
04:55continues
04:55as they take
04:56the puck
04:59sweet little
05:00play there
05:00by Johansen
05:05they lean in
05:06and go to work
05:06along the wall
05:07looking for possession
05:09quickly up
05:09to Harkins
05:13D'Angelo
05:16Tucker
05:17and he quickly
05:19goes to Hallander
05:24Buffalo's got it
05:25now
05:26moves across
05:28ice
05:30Malenstein
05:32saves
05:35Benoit
05:36can't handle
05:38that pass
05:40oh
05:41arm in the air
05:42delayed penalty
05:43that looked like
05:43a slash
05:45there's the whistle
05:46seemed pretty obvious
05:47but here's the
05:48official announcement
05:49yeah that's going to be
05:51a slashing minor there
05:52and those are the ones
05:53that drive coaches
05:54crazy
05:54when you stop
05:55moving your feet
05:56and you reach in
05:56with your stick
05:57the official's going to
05:58make that call
05:58every time
06:01ozone faceoff
06:02about to commence
06:03first power play
06:04chance of the game
06:05let's see if they
06:05can take advantage
06:06in a tie game
06:08this is where that
06:08number one power play
06:09can really flex a little bit
06:11first chance of the night
06:12for them
06:12and you know this group
06:13loves the chance
06:14to grab the lead
06:15and he sends the nice
06:16cross ice pass
06:17to Zari
06:21defenseman to defenseman
06:22pass there
06:23has it now
06:24behind the net
06:25and that's blocked
06:26out front
06:27that's a big time
06:28sacrifice
06:29while they're short handed
06:31nicely up to McLeod
06:35makes the save
06:36gets the whistle
06:38and he'll take
06:39the faceoff
06:43special teams
06:44once again
06:45the focus
06:46as we get set
06:47for this faceoff
06:48and the penalty kill
06:49will resume
06:51shot
06:52blocked in front
06:53never saw that one
06:54coming
06:55has it now
06:56behind the net
06:58scooped up
06:59power play continues
07:01taken at the wall
07:02and he quickly moves
07:04it to Nyquist
07:08save with the blocker
07:09they'll take possession
07:11now looking to clear
07:12it down the ice
07:14the clue
07:15have the puck
07:16along the boards
07:19he quickly goes
07:20to D'Angelo
07:21blocked it away
07:23stopped
07:23that is some kind
07:25of response
07:25from the goaltender
07:26coming up with
07:27consecutive saves
07:28and holding things
07:29together
07:31so we'll get set
07:32to drop the puck
07:33and the power play
07:35will resume
07:38sabers win the draw
07:39and take possession
07:43can't quite connect
07:44on that pass
07:45the whistle blows
07:46gets the stoppage
07:47and he'll take
07:48the faceoff
07:52midway point
07:53coming into view
07:54dead even
07:55no goals yet
07:59sabers come up
08:00with the defensive
08:01zone draw
08:01and they'll take
08:02possession
08:02and the puck
08:04is covered up
08:04the whistle blows
08:05and we'll get a break
08:07here
08:07to our next faceoff
08:09both teams set
08:10for the next faceoff
08:15and they win
08:16the offensive zone
08:17faceoff
08:18deflected
08:19off the pad
08:20that's a tremendous
08:22stop
08:22that's where
08:22shooters can do
08:23a lot of damage
08:24but the goaltender
08:24tracks it beautifully
08:27Kustodino
08:28fires the long
08:29pass up to
08:30Marchment
08:30and he fires it
08:32to Johansson
08:34just broken up
08:36another one
08:37that doesn't get
08:37through
08:38too much
08:38traffic
08:39and that's
08:40kick free
08:41good little touch
08:42with the skate
08:43and they take
08:43possession
08:47St. Petersburg
08:48picked it up
08:49along the wall
08:50save
08:56Lion's been sharp
08:57and you can see it
08:58on that last one
08:59that's a high danger
09:00chance
09:00and he reads it
09:01the whole way
09:02stays right with it
09:03and comes up with a
09:04really strong save
09:05and a big moment
09:12so the player's set
09:13to go again
09:14and the penalty kill
09:15will resume
09:19faceoff win here
09:20in the defensive zone
09:22and now he moves it
09:23to Harkins
09:25Harkins
09:26moves it up
09:27to Dahlin
09:28back at full strength
09:29now
09:30and that power play
09:31stitched nothing
09:32together
09:33sometimes you come off
09:34a power play
09:34and you don't have
09:35the result
09:35but still like the process
09:37they generated a lot
09:38of chances
09:38and moved it around
09:39well
09:39but just couldn't
09:40find that finish
09:41sweet stop
09:42by Lion
09:44that is sharp
09:45goaltending right there
09:46a really dangerous
09:47look from a prime area
09:48but it's turned aside
09:51dumps it deep
09:51into the opposite
09:52corner
09:54intercepted
09:55play is stopped
09:56will regroup
09:58and getting ready
09:59for another faceoff
10:00oh this has been
10:01a great game
10:02both teams trading chances
10:03like a track beat
10:04going back and forth
10:05back and forth
10:06this game is full of
10:07speed and transition
10:08you gotta love it
10:17sticks on the ice
10:18and getting ready
10:19to resume here
10:26offensive zone
10:27faceoff is won
10:30Danforth
10:31good stick there
10:33to disrupt the play
10:35St. Petersburg's puck
10:37now along the boards
10:40taken out of the play
10:42and it's a quick pass
10:44to Danforth
10:44delayed penalty
10:46coming out
10:47somehow
10:48some way
10:49that one stays out
10:51there's the whistle
10:53here comes the call
10:54from the referee
10:55well that's a two minute
10:57call for interference
10:58boy the coach is not
11:00going to be happy
11:00there with that one
11:01that's a lack of
11:02discipline
11:10faceoff in the
11:10offensive zone
11:11first power play
11:12chance of the game
11:13yeah and this is a real
11:15important one here
11:15for a first look at the
11:16power play
11:17scoreless game
11:18chance to grab a little
11:19momentum right off the
11:20draw
11:20what a save
11:23hangs on to that puck
11:24we'll get ready for
11:26another faceoff
11:26as the whistle blows
11:30special teams
11:31coming into play again
11:32in this one
11:33players set to go
11:34and the power play
11:35will continue
11:36the sabers win the
11:37draw
11:38they got the puck
11:40Lorenz
11:40and they clear the zone
11:46Harris
11:47and that one never gets
11:49through
11:49blocked by the defender
11:58Norris
11:58hope checked away
12:00by Lorenz
12:02good little dish there
12:05can't get it off
12:06quickly up to
12:08Zucker
12:09Zucker
12:13Norris
12:14and a big time block
12:16on the play
12:16that's a solid effort
12:18to negate a great
12:19scoring chance
12:20and he quickly
12:21goes to Cunnan
12:23the sabers have
12:24picked it up
12:25along the boards
12:26power
12:32Malenstein
12:33McLeod
12:33block is saved
12:35by Soderblom
12:36denied
12:37with the glove
12:44Soderblom's come up
12:45with a massive
12:46stop on that
12:46last sequence
12:47when you look at
12:48this again here
12:48on the replay
12:49you can see
12:50that's a dangerous
12:50chance in tight
12:51and he is just
12:52so composed
12:52and is able to
12:53make an outstanding
12:54save to keep it out
13:00so the linesman
13:01has the puck
13:02players
13:02get into position
13:04and this penalty
13:05kill will resume
13:08kicked off
13:09good read
13:12and that's a
13:13move quickly
13:14to Chisholm
13:16savers have it
13:17now
13:18and they circle
13:19in back
13:20get all the way
13:21out of the
13:22defensive end
13:27up high
13:28up high received
13:28at the point
13:29that pass
13:30just out of reach
13:31tape to tape
13:33to Malenstein
13:34oh that's a sweet
13:36poke check
13:36right there
13:38dishes it to
13:39Dahlin
13:40and a nice
13:41poke check there
13:42nice read
13:44interception
13:48Benoit
13:49off the glove
13:51and a man down
13:52no more
13:53nice job
13:54on the PK unit
13:55they kill off
13:56the penalty
13:56boy that one
13:57leaves you shaking
13:58your head a little bit
13:59because with the extra
14:00man you want to
14:00create something
14:01and grab momentum
14:02and instead that unit
14:03goes back to the bench
14:04looking awfully frustrated
14:06move quickly
14:07to Hallander
14:08and that's taken away
14:10dripped out
14:11with the glove
14:14gets the whistle
14:15play is stopped
14:16and we'll get ready
14:17for another face off
14:19oh that kind of save
14:20just changes the momentum
14:21of the game
14:22listen to the crowd
14:23listen to the bench
14:24holy jump
14:25and that's one of the
14:25greatest saves
14:26I've ever seen
14:41at the back end
14:42of this period
14:43still zeros
14:44across the board
14:49Buffalo's won the draw
14:50they're looking to go
14:51to work here
14:51off their own teammates
14:56attacking
14:57good save there
14:58and he slides it
15:00quickly to Kulik
15:01hooks in and deep
15:05the crew have gained
15:06control along the wall
15:08and there it goes
15:10now to Harris
15:11and now he passes
15:13up to Lorenz
15:15Lorenz
15:16oh not quite
15:22denied by Lyon
15:23play is stopped
15:25and he'll take
15:26the face off
15:31here come the center
15:32iceman
15:33bucket to bucket
15:34eyeball to eyeball
15:35for this face off
15:38Sabres win the draw
15:39in their own end
15:39and they'll take
15:40possession
15:41Crevier
15:43and that puck
15:43is sent out
15:46camp
15:47save
15:49Sotoglom's made the save
15:50and steered that puck
15:50right to the corner
15:51a smart play
15:52to keep it out of danger
15:53gets the whistle
15:55and he'll take the face off
15:59final minutes ticking away
16:01in this period
16:020-0
16:03a scoreless affair
16:04right now
16:07offensive zone draw
16:08is successful
16:10St. Petersburg's got control
16:12of the puck in the defensive zone
16:14oh can't quite connect
16:21Marksman's booed by the crowd
16:22he is now public enemy number one here
16:26Marksman's denied
16:27what a save
16:29and listen to these fans
16:32now
16:32they're rising
16:33to recognize
16:34their goalie
16:35after that
16:36absolute showstopper
16:38between the pipes
16:39what a moment
16:40Bucci
16:40that's the kind of
16:41highlight reel save
16:42that brings everybody up
16:43and gets the whole arena
16:44buzzing
16:45freaking in
16:48has it in front
16:49and that breakaway
16:50comes up empty
16:51he gets the opportunity
16:53but in the end
16:54there's just no result
16:54from it
16:56Tucker
16:57and he gives it over
16:58to Hustedinov
16:59throws it over
17:01and the save is made
17:06Dome
17:07Dome
17:08steered aside
17:12Zucker
17:13Dome
17:14the whistle blows
17:16gets the stoppage
17:17and he'll take the face off
17:20this is just tremendous effort
17:21from the goaltender
17:22he's battling

20:30That's picked up by Hustedinoff.
20:32St. Petersburg's got it along the wall.
20:39Smith punched away.
20:43Whips on the shot.
20:45Power disrupts the possession on the pole check.
20:49Nice read by Norris.
20:51Working free in his own zone.
20:55Zeri.
20:58Husted away with the blocker.
21:03A full ball now.
21:04Crisp short pass to McLeod.
21:07Timely pole check there by Tucker.
21:11Zeri.

21:39Still very early in this one.
21:41No score in this one so far.
21:45Faceoff is won in the offensive zone.
21:51Harkins.
21:52He's in alone.
21:54Save.
21:55Play is stopped.

22:18Lions made a terrific save at the perfect time.
22:21Reading that quality chance from the slot all the way.
22:28Back door.
22:29Oh!
22:30What a save!
22:31Up ahead to Cunnan.
22:33He brings it along the wall.
22:36Passes it!
22:37And whips on it.
22:38Pass intercepted.
22:41Can't.
22:46Takes the puck now and looking to make a play.
22:52That's intercepted.
22:53Nice read there.
22:54Has it in front.
22:55And he scores!
23:17Yeah, and it all starts with the body contact here.
23:20He takes the hit to gain possession.
23:22And then what a job finishing the playoff himself.
23:39Buffalo has been putting the pressure on.
23:41And it pays off.
23:42They have the go-ahead goal here in the second.
23:45Now they'll shut it.
23:46Use that for some momentum.
23:47St. Petersburg's won the draw, and play continues here.
23:54Buffalo's got it back now.
23:57Couldn't quite complete that pass.
24:03Gathered in by Timmons.
24:05Broken up on the poke check by Miramanov.
24:08Well, this is just an excellent poke check here.
24:10And that is not easy in a high-danger situation.
24:13As a defender, you've got to have the timing and the reach of your stick just right.
24:16And he disrupts that chance perfectly.
24:19In front!
24:20Feeds it!
24:29And that won't get through.
24:33Johansson.
24:36Quick take-to-take to Benoit.
24:39Puck comes out, and they'll regroup.
24:43Quick this to Chisholm.
24:45And makes a pass to Zari.
24:49Nyquist.
24:53Just out of reach.
24:57Send it back to the point.
24:59Nyquist blows the whistle.
25:01That's offside.
25:05Not far from the midway point now.
25:08It's 1-0 in early edge.
25:11Sabres have control off the draw, and we stay right with the flow here.
25:16St. Petersburg's got the puck back along the boards.
25:21Sabres take over possession.
25:23Picked up by Norris.
25:26Norris.

25:31Hangs on to that puck.
25:33Will get ready for another face-off as the whistle blows.
25:37Soderblom's come up with a tremendous save.
25:39That's a high-danger chance he was able to shut down, and you can see it on the replay.
25:43I like that he didn't panic at all.
25:45He tracked it beautifully, stayed composed in the crease, and read it perfectly to rise to the challenge.
25:51Calling the players in, getting ready to drop the puck and resume play here.
25:59The Sabres win the Ozone draw, and they have it.
26:02Has the puck now.
26:04Good defensive play there with the stick.

26:20Coming up with one stop and then another.
26:25Buffalo's got the puck now behind the net.
26:29Uses the board to complete that pass.
26:33McLeod.
26:33He leaves the stick out and disrupts the play.
26:37Can't connect that pass there.
26:40And we're going to have an icing here.
26:43As the whistle blows.
26:48Buffalo's got to like the way things are looking right now.
26:51They have the lead, and they continue to get shots on goal, carrying the play.
26:57Can't quite connect there.
27:02Puck picked up along the wall by Hustedinoff.
27:06Broken, huh?
27:06Nice read by Benson.
27:08Oh, the coach isn't going to be happy.
27:10You can't turn the puck over when you're behind in the game.
27:13Fed up top and handled at the point.
27:17At the point.
27:18Slap shot.
27:19And that shot stopped.
27:24Passes it off.
27:25Block in front.
27:27Never saw that one coming.
27:29Lots of pressure in the zone, and the goalie finally covers it up to get a whistle.
27:35Big face-off here after the icing.
27:38Tired defenders.
27:39Maybe a tired goalie, too.
27:41And the attackers know this is the chance.
27:43They do, and that's why this draw is everything.
27:46Win it clean, get it to the net quickly, and make that tired goalie work.
27:50Just missed that connection.
27:52Nice deflection.
27:54Makes the save.
27:57St. Petersburg's picked it up along the wall.
28:05Colorn gets it back up top here.
28:08Awful body.
28:09All kinds of mayhem in front of the goalie.
28:13Puck dumped in.
28:14Here comes that forecheck again.
28:16Quickly moves it to D'Angelo.
28:19Fires.
28:21Saved by Soderblom.
28:23Gets the whistle.
28:25Play is stopped.
28:26And will get ready for another face-off.
28:31Linesmen calling the players in.
28:33About to drop the puck.
28:39Face-off is won in the offensive zone.
28:42Puck back to the neutral zone.
28:43They'll regroup and look to attack again.
28:46And here's a pass to Doan.
28:48Breaks it up on the poke check.
28:51St. Petersburg's got possession.
28:53Now in the defensive end, looking to bring it up.
28:56Can't quite connect on that pass.
28:58And now he moves it to Norris.
29:01Norris.
29:02Saved!
29:04What a save from the slot.
29:06That is a quality chance, and somehow he shuts the door.
29:10Soderblom spins sharp, and you can see it on that last one.
29:13That's a high-danger chance, and he reads it the whole way,
29:16stays right with it, and comes up with a really strong save
29:19at a big moment.
29:25In the final stages of this one, just one goal separates them, 1-0.
29:33The face-off is won, and they take possession.
29:36Quickly up to Zari.
29:40A crew at the puck.
29:42Barely got a piece of that one.
29:44Play is stopped, and he'll take the face-off.
29:51Buffalo's effort has not waned in this one really at all.
29:54Still got the lead, still getting shots on goal.
29:56Now they'll try to bring it to the intermission break.
30:01Oh, another body part hit.
30:05Nyquist.
30:06Deflected away.
30:07Hope checked away by Marchment.
30:10Good stop by Lyon.
30:12Gets the whistle, and he'll take the face-off.
30:23And they win the draw in their own end.
30:26Benson.
30:28McLeod.
30:30Spooked up by Mikheyev.
30:37Sabres take it now.
30:41Hope checks it away.
30:44The Sabres have scooped it up here.
30:46Slides the puck across to McLeod.
30:49Slot saved by Lyon.
30:52Those are not easy saves to make.
30:54That's a quality look from the slot.
30:56We're now in the late stages of this frame.
30:591-0.

31:47And he moves it to Crevier.
31:52Samuelson.
31:53Hope checked by Chisholm.
31:55Chisholm.
31:57Sweet little dish there.
32:01Smith.
32:03Big hit.
32:11Bourne sounds.
32:13Second period is over.

32:1620 to go in this tilt today.
32:18Some great stuff going on in this one.

33:524-1-0.
33:554-1-0.
34:23We're just about ready to drop the puck here in the third, but Hanger, what have you seen
34:27up to this point in the game?
34:28The crew is chasing this game right now, Bucci, and a big part of that is the goaltender
34:33at the other end.
34:33When you're facing a netminder who's dialed in and putting up that kind of save percentage,
34:37you can't get frustrated.
34:39They just need to keep funneling pucks towards the net to cause some chaos here in the third.
34:43And he serves it across to Benoit.
34:49Sabres have it now.
34:50Save!
34:56Lions really control the temperature of this game by making those big saves at the
35:00moments you absolutely need one.
35:02There's a calming effect that comes from that, because every save like this can change the
35:05feel on the bench.
35:07All of a sudden, your group gets a little more composed, a little more confident, and starts
35:11feeding off it.
35:20Lots of time left in this period.
35:23One to nothing.
35:24Not a lot on the score sheet, but a good game.
35:28Faceoff is one in the defensive zone.
35:30Can't connect.
35:34And the linesman blows the whistle, and that's an icing.
35:42Sabres early in the third here.
35:44Have to be feeling good.
35:45Still getting shots on goal.
35:46And they have the lead.

36:22Danforth!
36:23Kipped out with the glove.
36:25The whistle blows, gets the stoppage, and he'll take the faceoff.
36:31First few minutes of this period.
36:33We've got a 1-0 score.
36:39Buffalo's won the draw, and they'll look to attack.
36:42They've checked away nicely.
36:45St. Petersburg's got the puck back along the boards.
36:48The pass!
36:51Boat checked by Dahlien.
36:55And now he passes it over to Benson.
36:58Whistle blows, and that's offside.
37:03Well, this is the kind of hit that can change the feel of a game.
37:06Look, they're trailing here, but it's still close, and sometimes you just need somebody
37:10to step up and inject some energy into your group.
37:12That's a big, hard play that says, we're not going away.
37:15And now you hope it sparks the rest of the bench.
37:21Neutral zone faceoff one, and let's see what they can do now.
37:29St. Petersburg's picked it up and has possession.
37:33Hope checks it away on the forecheck.
37:36And the puck is covered up.
37:38The whistle blows.
37:39And we'll get a break here to our next faceoff.
37:43Early part of this one.
37:451-0.
37:46The difference is just a single tuck.
37:53Buffalo's won the faceoff.
37:54They have it.
37:55They'll try to head north.
37:56The crew have the puck on the attack now.
38:00Gathered at the point now.
38:02That drive catches a player out front and gets blocked.
38:05Play is stopped.
38:07We'll regroup and get ready for another faceoff.
38:11Big faceoff here in the offensive zone, and they're looking to win it
38:15and fire one on a tired goalie.
38:17Yeah, after all that zone time, this is where you want to clean win, Bucci,
38:21and get it there quickly.
38:24Corraled by Lorenz.
38:26Whistle blows, and we have an offside.
38:31Sabres with the lead early in the third here,
38:34and still getting shots on goal.
38:36They continue to carry the play.
38:39Aggressive poke check there on the forecheck.
38:43And now it's over to Malenstein.
38:45Good defensive play on the poke check by Johansson.
38:49Up ahead to Mikheyev.
38:53Shot.
38:54Save.
38:55Just a piece of that one.
38:57What a smart save there.
38:59Not only does he make the stop,
39:00he steers it right to the corner and out of danger.
39:04Malenstein.
39:05Fluff save by Soderblom.
39:08What a save right from the slot.
39:10And he flashes the glove to take it away.
39:14Near the ten-minute mark of this period.
39:17One zip in a grinder.
39:21Sabres win the draw.
39:22They got the puck.
39:29St. Petersburg's picked it up along the wall.
39:35Now to Killorn.
39:38Killorn.
39:39And that pass goes astray.
39:43Allender can't connect there.
39:45Good defensive play with the stick.
39:48St. Petersburg's got possession along the boards.
39:52Buffalo's grabbed it here in their own end.
39:56They glide in the D zone.
39:58And here's a pass to Danforth.
40:03Moves the puck across to Hallender.
40:05Picked off by Danforth.
40:07St. Petersburg's taking over possession of the puck here.
40:11Nice poe check there by D'Angelo.
40:18Whistle blows.
40:19That's an icing.
40:20Face off at the other end.
40:25Just about halfway through the frame.
40:27It's 1-0 in early edge.
40:33Buffalo's won the draw.
40:34They're looking to go to work here.
40:36Winning that draw means they can put the pressure on after that icing ball.
40:40And he quickly goes to Hallender.
40:43Oh, arm in the air.
40:45Delayed penalty.
40:45That looked like a slash.
40:48There's the whistle.
40:49Here comes the official call from the referee.
40:53Well, this puts a little heat on the penalty killers here, Bucci.
40:55You're up by one.
40:56You like where you're at.
40:57And now you've got to dig in, win some battles, and make sure they don't find the equalizer.
41:04Ozone faceoff about to begin.
41:06Another power play opportunity here.
41:09Yeah, and this is a real big opportunity here.
41:11Pendulum-like momentum can swing on a power play.
41:14And down by one, this is where you can get back to even.
41:17Goalie comes out to play the puck.
41:20And he feeds it now to Chisholm.
41:22And he quickly moves it to Zari.
41:25Jones.
41:26Player down.
41:27That's going to be a trip.
41:29Arm is in the air.
41:31There's the whistle heading to the box.
41:33And here's the official announcement.
41:36Well, they're trailing by one.
41:37And they can ill afford to go to the penalty box.
41:39But that's exactly what just happened there, Bucci.
41:41That's a penalty.
41:49Four aside as the puck drops.
41:52Yeah, and right off this faceoff setup, with both teams playing four-on-four, there's going to be a little
41:56more ice out there.
41:57And that could really change the look of things.
42:00The crew have the puck along the board.
42:02Move quickly to Marchment.
42:04That pass just out of reach.
42:07Can't connect there.
42:08Deflected.

42:231-0.
42:26It drives one.
42:27And they take possession.
42:29Timmons.
42:31Out it comes.
42:32And the zone is cleared.
42:34Drives the net.
42:35Denied.
42:37Hope checked away nicely.
42:42And they wave it off as the attacker wins it.
42:44Great determination there to win the race and negate the icing.
42:48The bolts are next on the schedule.
42:50Got some seats still available for you to check out and come on out to the arena.
42:55Sabres in a good position now.
42:57They have the lead here midway through the third.
42:59And they're still putting pressure on the netminder.
43:03Faceoff win here in the defensive zone.
43:05Quickly up to Dahlin.
43:10A brief man advantage chance here as the penalty expires.
43:14And he gets in front of it.
43:16That's exactly what you need from a penalty killer to take that lane away.
43:22Sabres with the puck now.
43:24Fist over to Nyquist.
43:27Sabres power play is over and we're back to even strength.
43:30Gets the whistle.
43:32Play is stopped.
43:33And we'll get ready for another faceoff.
43:36Here come the center iceman.
43:39Bucket to bucket.
43:40Eyeball to eyeball.
43:41For this faceoff.
43:46Buffalo's got that faceoff.
43:47And they take possession.
43:49The crew have possession now.
43:52Has it.
43:53Sticklift.
43:53Got it.
43:55One on one.
43:56Chance denied by the goalie.
43:59That's a big time save and he wins that one on one battle.
44:03Play is stopped.
44:04And he'll take the faceoff.
44:08Sotablom's come up with a massive stop on that last sequence.
44:11When you look at this again here on the replay.
44:13You can see that's a dangerous chance in tight.
44:15And he is just so composed.
44:16And is able to make an outstanding save to keep it out.
44:32Faceoff one here in the defensive zone.
44:35A little too much force there.
44:37Looked like a slash.
44:38Arm is in the air.
44:39Delayed penalty coming.
44:41That's one of those momentum swing penalties right there, Bucci.
44:43When you're protecting a one goal lead.
44:46Your killers have to settle it down.
44:47Get in the lanes.
44:48Clear rebounds.
44:49And grind this out.
45:05St. Petersburg.
45:06Special teams once again can make a contribution.
45:09They go on the mad advantage again.
45:11Yeah.
45:11And when the power play hasn't scored yet.
45:13That could be frustrating.
45:15They just need to make some adjustments.
45:16And take the opportunities that are given.
45:18Let's see how they respond.
45:21St. Petersburg's got the puck back along the boards.
45:25Swiftly sends it to Cologne.
45:27Now a quick pass to Nyquist.
45:32Pun in.
45:33Oh!
45:33What anticipation there!
45:37Up high received at the point.
45:40The crew have possession.
45:41Good stop by Lyon.
45:44Good stop by Lyon.
46:06So we are set to go here.
46:08Players in position, and the power play will resume.
46:14St. Petersburg's won the draw, and they have the puck.
46:19D'Angelo!
46:21And that shot gets absorbed out front.
46:24Feeds it to Samuelson.
46:29Puck dumped in.
46:30Here comes the pressure.
46:32St. Petersburg's got the puck now behind the net.
46:36And nicely to Johansen.
46:42The Sabre scooped up the puck, and they'll look to clear.
46:45Camp!
46:46And he makes the save.
46:49Soderblom's been rock-solid tonight.
46:50And when you look at that save percentage, it tells the story.
46:53He's seen plenty of rubber, and with this game this tight,
46:56those saves are giving his group a chance.
47:02Sari!
47:02Gloved away.
47:04Gets the whistle, and he'll take the faceoff.
47:11So the player's set to go again, and the penalty kill will resume.
47:20Draw one in the run in.
47:22Knocked away by Sari.
47:24What a save by Lyon!
47:27That is a big-time stop right there from the slot.
47:30That's a real dangerous chance.
47:32St. Petersburg's picked it up along the wall.
47:35And he sends it across to Johansen.
47:38Corraled by Sari.
47:41Sari!
47:42Sari!
47:44Can't quite connect on that pass.
47:47The crew have picked it up along the boards.
47:51Tape to tape.
47:53Sabres have it now along the boards.
47:56Full strength now, and what a timely kill there
47:59as they slam the door on the power play.
48:01That was a missed opportunity by the power play
48:03because they're trailing.
48:04Luckily, it's only by one, so they can still get back in it.
48:08Spires!
48:09Locked in front.
48:10Hitting their own teammate.
48:12Keeps it out with the glove.
48:14The whistle blows.
48:16Gets the stoppage.
48:17And he'll take the faceoff.
48:21Buffalo's got everything in their favor right now.
48:24They have to lead midway through the final frame,
48:26and they're still getting shots on net.
48:29St. Petersburg's won the faceoff.
48:31They've got control of the puck.
48:33Has it now along the wall.
48:40Nice pass along the blue line.
48:42And the puck is covered up.
48:44The whistle blows.
48:45And we'll get a break here
48:47to our next faceoff.
48:50Down to the final few minutes of the period.
48:531-0.
48:54Tight checking so far.
48:57Buffalo's won the defensive zone faceoff,
48:59and they got the puck.
49:01Tape to tape to Danforth.
49:03The cloud.
49:06Poke checked away now on the forecheck.
49:08Play is stopped.
49:10We'll regroup and get ready for another faceoff.
49:16Buffalo's in a really good position right now.
49:18They have the lead, of course,
49:20but also the shots on goal are still coming.
49:22They're putting the pressure on.
49:26Arm is in the air,
49:27and yes, delayed penalty.
49:30There's the whistle.
49:31Seemed pretty obvious,
49:33but here's the official announcement.
49:35Well, this is a tough one here.
49:36You're trailing by one,
49:38and now the PK has to do a job,
49:40get this thing killed off,
49:42get back to even strength,
49:43and try to grab a little momentum back.
49:57Buffalo's got another chance
49:59with the man advantage.
50:00A power play opportunity
50:02as we get set here
50:04for the faceoff.
50:05Yeah, and when the power play hasn't scored yet,
50:07that can be frustrating.
50:09They just need to make some adjustments
50:10and take the opportunities that are given.
50:12Let's see how they respond.
50:27Malenstein's heading to the dressing room,
50:28and this is hard to watch.
50:30He's really favoring that one leg as he goes off,
50:32and you can tell right away
50:33this is a leg injury.
50:34He'll need medical attention once he gets back there.
50:36Yeah, and you see him protecting that leg
50:39all the way off.
50:41That's one the medical staff
50:43will need a closer look at.
50:46Good play there on the poke check.
50:48Denied!
50:50Oh, boy, that is a terrific save.
50:52A high-quality chance from right up front.
50:54Whistle blows, and it looks like
50:56we have a penalty coming.
51:00Oh, that's a blatant slash.
51:02Ooh, that's going to leave a mark, too,
51:03on the opposition.
51:04But in the meantime,
51:05he's headed into the penalty box.
51:07That's two minutes.
51:25Four-on-four hockey coming up.
51:28It really hasn't clicked for them tonight,
51:30but this power play comes at a critical juncture
51:32of the game.
51:32If they can score here,
51:33it can change everything.
51:35And now he pushes that across to Kulik.
51:40McLeod.
51:41McLeod!
51:42Oh, my goodness!
51:46He gets his own rebound.
51:50Two-goal advantage now.
51:52Two-nothing.
52:01That's a great fundamentals of hockey.
52:03Shooting the puck,
52:03going to the front of the net,
52:04stopping,
52:05and then scoring on your own rebound.
52:06That is classic grittiness.
52:26Late clock now.
52:28Late clock now in the period.
52:29A couple folds the difference.
52:33Face-off one,
52:34and they have it.
52:35Crisp short pass to Johansson.
52:41Sabres have picked it up along the boards.
52:45Crisp short pass to Kulik.
52:48It's a close game.
52:49You don't need anything fancy here, Boots.
52:50Just get it down the ice.
52:51St. Petersburg's got it now.
52:56Puck taken there by Tucker.
53:00Sabres with the puck now.
53:03St. Petersburg skating with the extra attacker
53:05for a short burst here.
53:07The crew have control of the puck now.
53:10He's got it.
53:11Quick pass up.
53:15Harris.
53:16On in.
53:18And it's a delayed penalty.
53:21And there's the whistle,
53:22and the penalty will be announced.
53:25Well, you can't interfere with the player.
53:27It's plain and simple.
53:28This isn't football, Bucci.
53:30This is hockey.
53:30The puck was nowhere near him.
53:41Open ice now.
53:42Four on four.
53:44Yeah, and right off this face-off setup,
53:45with both teams playing four on four,
53:47there's going to be a little more ice out there,
53:49and that could really change the look of things.
53:51Door closes.
53:52Power play unit takes over.
53:57Picked off by Lyon.
53:59Buffalo's on their toes and anticipating well.
54:01Their pressure in the puck.
54:02Soda blobs.
54:03The first, second, and third star in this game,
54:05as far as I'm concerned.
54:06And why wouldn't he be?
54:07These saves are unbelievable.
54:09His teammates have no idea how he's made them,
54:12and the opposition just keeps shaking their heads.
54:14They can't believe it.
54:28So just moments away here,
54:30Harris gets set to resume this one,
54:32and the penalty kill continues.
54:35St. Petersburg's won the draw,
54:37and they have it.
54:39Score!
54:42He's got six on the year now.
54:45A short-handed tuck.
54:48And it's two to one.
54:54Well, all game long,
54:55this goaltender's been absolutely perfect.
54:57But a late goal ends the shutout bid.
54:59Oh, that's a disappointing way to end it.
55:15Special teams,
55:16once again,
55:17the focus
55:17as we get set for this face-off,
55:20and the penalty kill will resume.
55:25Neutral zone draw one,
55:27and they got the puck.
55:31The crew have gained control along the wall.
55:35Can't collect that dish.
55:39Final minute of the third period
55:41in this tight matchup.
55:43Quick take-to-take to Doan.
55:49That's intercepted.
55:50Nice rebound.
55:58And he pushes that across to Cunnan.
56:03Now he moves it to Lorenz.
56:06Moves it down below the goal line now.
56:09St. Petersburg's gone to the empty net here.
56:12Extra attacker out
56:13as they try to get back in this game.
56:15Net empty.
56:16Yes!
56:17It's in!
56:35It's the last minute of the game.
56:37It's an empty net goal,
56:38and this ends it.
56:39Fans are filing out.
56:40They're done.
56:41Game over.
56:43And after those two quick goals
56:45in under two minutes,
56:46a timeout called here
56:47to settle things down.
56:49Yeah, and that's exactly
56:51what this is for, Bucci,
56:52just to calm the bench
56:52after the game turned in a hurry.
56:54Buffalo's not sitting back.
56:56They have the lead here in the third
56:58and still getting their shots.
57:00And here's the shot!
57:02And that's knocked aside.
57:04Quickly moves it to Smith.
57:07Good vision there.
57:09Passes it off!
57:10Right in the logo.
57:16The cloud's been knocking on the door all game long,
57:18and he finally breaks through on this one.
57:39Empty net at the far end.
57:41Extra attacker out here.
57:42That means everything starts with this draw.
57:44You win it,
57:45now you've got that extra player in position right away.
57:51Offensive zone face-off one.
57:58And man, you can feel the love in the air tonight.
58:01This crowd is happy with the performance of their team.
58:05Looks to pass it to Danforth.
58:24And that's usually what these tight ones come down to do, team.
58:27Same chances,
58:28but one group was sharper,
58:29more composed,
58:30and it held up.
58:31Another great game is in the books.
58:34Thanks so much for watching.
