00:27Because when we talked about the Tuesday Tailgate, he was like,
00:29oh, my gosh, half a Fan University, and I was like, Brendan's not going to be there.

00:35I'm glad Kevin likes me.
00:36You could feel the sadness.
00:38You could feel the phone.
00:38Yeah.
00:39Absolutely.
00:40Now, how amazing is the back-to-back pick six? I don't care who you're playing.
00:46Austin Romaine, first FBS player in 13 years to have two interceptions for touchdowns on consecutive throws.
00:54It was crazy to watch, and good for Austin, because the first couple games that he's had,
00:58he's struggled a little bit, especially in pass coverage, and a lot of Texas Tech fans have been a little
01:03concerned.
01:04So to see him silence those doubters quickly was fantastic.
01:07Unfortunately, you needed those pick sixes a little more than you thought you would for Texas Tech against Sam Houston,
01:12so that's a little bit of a concern.
01:14But awesome for Austin, because Tech not only really needed it at the time,
01:18but good to see a guy that was struggling a little bit kind of make do.
01:22Were you off last week because you were afraid that Texas Tech was going to lose to Houston,
01:26and you're like, I'm just going to be prepared just in case.
01:29Just in case I couldn't show my face, yes.
01:31Okay.
01:32Yeah.
01:32That was smart.
01:33That really was smart.
01:34All right.
01:35Now, I want to go from that to Dylan Stewart.
01:39Now, Dylan Stewart is somebody who, I mean, there is a lot of buzz on him, at least being a
01:45top ten pick.
01:46Whether or not you think he will go higher than that, we'll see, but he's been suspended.
01:53Is it still indefinitely?
01:54The last I saw it was indefinitely.
01:56I don't know if they put a number on it yet.
01:58The SEC partnered with South Carolina on this and suspending him for the indefinite.
02:02Because he punched a player.
02:03He punched a player.
02:04He was cussing out coaches on the sideline.
02:06He was sitting by himself and not joining team huddles.
02:08And it's unfortunate because this guy has all the talent in the world.
02:11He, coming into the season, I would have put him right behind Colin Simmons, is maybe the most impactful defensive
02:17player who I know we'll get to in a second.
02:19Also, some antics there.
02:20But really frustrating to see.
02:23Shane Beamer looks like he could be on his way out at South Carolina.
02:28The loss to Mississippi State at home and then obviously going to Tuscaloosa and losing.
02:32It's been frustrating for them.
02:33He never has seemed to quite get over the hump.
02:35And this is a bad look for the program and him as well, too, when you have your best player
02:39arguably acting like that.
02:41And I know, obviously, you don't want to punch another player.
02:44I understand all of that.
02:46I'm not forgiving that whatsoever.
02:48But does it seem at least as problematic, if not more problematic, in terms of NFL scouting in the future,
02:56that he's squabbling with his coaches or alienated from his teammates?
02:59Or is that?
03:00Am I making too much of a big deal out of that?
03:02I think it is a big deal.
03:03But we've seen the NFL and scouts and GMs.
03:06If they think you can make a direct impact on the field, they'll find a way to get you.
03:10But maybe you drop a couple spots.
03:12But there's no question Dylan Stewart is a first-round talent.
03:16So maybe he slips a little bit in the first round.
03:18But this guy will still be playing on Sundays.
03:20Now, unless he just has crazy attitude problems and doesn't get this sorted out.
03:25But he'll be drafted in the first round still.
03:27Now, do you think we should talk about the production or play the penalty call of Colin Simmons first?

03:34All right.
03:35So let's go to cut number 10, Corey.
03:37And I want you to listen to this captivating penalty call by a ref who understood what was going to
03:43make the headlines.
03:44That's sportsman-like conduct.
03:46Defense, number one.
03:48The student ready using the rest of it.
03:50It's just an absolute idiotic move by Colin Simmons doing that.
03:57It's supposed to be one of the leaders of this defense.
04:00And they got him in a fourth and 29.
04:02Going to get great field position.
04:04It's a sixth penalty on Texas.
04:06Yeah, it's idiotic.
04:07He doesn't get much more vulgar either.
04:10I would be inclined to disagree with those doing the urination thing.
04:14Mr. Fowler on that.
04:15So a couple things.
04:16First of all, good for Colin Simmons because the way he simulated it.
04:20Hey, good job.
04:22Now, I don't know if he was doing that for effect, but it kind of felt like ladies.
04:28You know what the referees.
04:31You get it right, Alec.
04:32Alec, your thoughts?
04:34You know what the referee said to him whenever he went up and told him to stop?
04:39And he said, hey, stop.
04:41You're in trouble.
04:43Okay.
04:44Should have known that that was going to happen.
04:46Now, all that to say, he was unfreaking believable in this game.
04:56And they needed it, man.
04:58And we'll talk about that offense and arch manning and all of that in just a second.
05:02But they needed it because that thing came down to essentially the last play.
05:07He's a total game wrecker.
05:09I mean, he's easily the best player on their team.
05:12And it's unfortunate because, and Kirk Herbstreet mentioned it there, he's a team leader.
05:15You'd expect this guy to have maturity.
05:17He's been in the program.
05:18I don't know how you think of that.
05:19That seems to me like a pregame conversation with teammates.
05:22If I get a big sack, I'm going to do this gesture.
05:25But it was unfortunate to see.
05:27We're seeing so much of that now in this TikTok era.
05:30All these guys are online.
05:31Everybody celebrates after every play.
05:33But we haven't quite seen something like that before.
05:37So I think that took a lot of people off guard.
05:39But when it comes from your best player who's already dominating the football game, you wouldn't expect it to.
05:44So it's kind of a double whammy of what is Colin Simmons doing on the field right now?
05:48He's nuts.
05:49Okay.
05:50Yeah, that's true.
05:50If I told you I could see a world in which he's the second best player in college football, would
05:56you agree with that?
05:56I could agree with that.
05:57Behind Jeremiah Smith.
05:59My pick on that's probably never going to change.
06:01All right.
06:01Now let's talk about that production.
06:03Because Colin Simmons had what was already an impressive five-sack performance.
06:10But then Tennessee and Texas, sounds like they just had a battle.
06:16They agreed to a statistical correction and gave him an extra half-sack in the fourth quarter.
06:23So they told him at that point, you're in luck.
06:25Okay.
06:26I wish I had a button that would put one of those shields up right there.
06:31And so because of that, that is now the single-game record for the Longhorns.
06:38And so when we talk about shenanigans and whatnot, and you mentioned he's a game wrecker, five-and-a-half
06:43sacks is crazy.
06:45It's crazy in a college game.
06:47It's crazy on the road against a ranked opponent.
06:50And some of that could be credit to Tennessee having a true freshman quarterback.
06:55We saw a lot of inconsistencies in the pocket out of him.
06:57But it's also just Colin Simmons being better than anybody on the football field that he's playing with.
07:01So credit to him for his on-field performance.
07:05Needs to work on the celebrations a little bit, I think.
07:07And that's a big deal, though, too.
07:08Because Texas right now, they can't afford penalties like that.
07:12I mean, this team has been towing the line down at half big against Ohio State.
07:16They need their leaders to play good football and be good leaders on and off the field.
07:20That, to me, kind of signifies a little bit more that's going on around Texas than just what we're seeing
07:25on the football field.
07:26So we were just having this conversation about Justin Herbert.
07:29Justin Herbert has the exact physical build that you would think that would be your create a quarterback.
07:36For Arch Manning, and this is not to discount, I do think he is a good quarterback.
07:42But if I gave you the prompt that Arch Manning is also not that dude and will not be that
07:48dude this season, what say you?
07:50I think that's a—to take y'all's overreaction to reality—I think that's a reality.
07:55I think that Arch Manning was put on a pedestal of, this guy is going to be the greatest college
08:00quarterback we've ever seen coming into the 2025 season.
08:03He wasn't that.
08:04We reset expectations a little bit, but not enough.
08:07He's a good college quarterback.
08:09He's not a great college quarterback.
08:10And now we have enough sample size, 16 games, 4 this year, 12 last year, to see that Arch is
08:17capable of having really good performances,
08:18but he's not going to be a Darian Mensaw, for example.
08:22Yes.
08:23And so I think that if we just accept that, Arch needs to do his job to win Texas football
08:28games, which so far he's done.
08:29He hasn't looked great, but he's done enough for Texas to be 4-0, and I think that's okay.
08:34He's not going to be the Heisman Trophy winner, and we just need to accept that, and Texas fans need
08:38to accept that.
08:39Now, we said if Colin Simmons is the second-best player in college football, Jeremiah Smith would be No. 1
08:47up against Illinois this weekend.
08:49Four receiving touchdowns.
08:50That ties Terry Glenn as the most receiving touchdowns in a single game for Ohio State.
08:58Also, the only Ohio State players with a 200-yard receiving game and four touchdowns in a single game.
09:03What is it?
09:05Because we've talked a lot about how good he is.
09:07What is it that makes him so good, in addition to his, at times, ability to just run the best
09:13routes?
09:14Yeah.
09:14He's a five-tool receiver, if you want to put it in a baseball term.
09:18He doesn't have a weakness in his game.
09:19He understands where he needs to be on the field.
09:21He understands zone coverages, concepts, how to get open, how to find soft spots.
09:25It also helps when he can just run by college-level defenders because this guy has been better than any
09:31cornerback that he's faced since he was a true freshman at Ohio State.
09:34He's already moved to seventh on the conference's all-time list in receiving yards as a true junior, mind you,
09:41and he still has eight games to go.
09:42So, this guy has been arguably a top-five player in the sport since he arrived two seasons ago as
09:48a freshman, and now he's solidifying himself as an all-time great in the sport.
09:52And if Ohio State's able to go win a national championship and he's able to win the Heisman Trophy this
09:57season, we'll look at this guy in 10 years the same way we look at a Julio Jones at Alabama
10:02or a Calvin Johnson as a modern-day Megatron.
10:05Now, another piece of audio, this, the hit was bad, but I think it's the aftermath that really set people
10:16off.
10:16Go ahead and give me cut number 11.
10:18The guy who I think, or did think, I know he'll be out for a while, was the best quarterback
10:23in college football, Dante Moore, just getting crushed.
10:27On second and nine, Moore steps up, tucks it, a lot of room, and he took a hit on the
10:33back end.
10:34That is going to be a major flag.
10:36Desmond Stevens and Moore is down.
10:41So, the hit, I realize the hit is not good.
10:45Was it the hit that bothered you the most?
10:47Was it the, man, seemingly celebration?
10:51Not only in the immediate aftermath of the play, but even after that.
10:54Yeah, he was celebrating on the field, doing some hand gestures as he's walking away from the scuffle, and then
11:00on the sideline, he's smiling, shaking his head, dabbing up teammates.
11:03That, to me, was the bigger issue because we've seen these plays a lot happen where I tend to give
11:08the defender the benefit of the doubt at these times where they are moving full speed.
11:12They don't necessarily know exactly when the quarterback is going to start his slide.
11:16Now, it was a dirty hit, but I would be like, okay, I can see how you're trying to still
11:20lunge and make a tackle.
11:21There's no excuse whatsoever for how he handled himself after that play as a guy is literally unconscious on the
11:29football field, and you're celebrating that.
11:31Dante Moore could have had a serious injury.
11:33Thank God he is just going through his concussion protocol.
11:37That, to me, one game's not enough.
11:39They suspended him for one game, and I am shocked he's not suspended for longer than that.
11:43It was a complete, not just the play, but how he acted after.
11:47I believe he should be suspended for multiple games after that, and Dylan Raiola comes in for Oregon, who was
11:53Nebraska's quarterback, and completely shreds USC's defense.
11:56They almost didn't even need Dante Moore in the second half.
11:58They played better with Dylan Raiola.
12:00And now we're talking about somebody who seems like he patterned in his entire life after Patrick Mahomes, and he's
12:05another one that was supposed to be at a time, that dude.
12:07Yeah, he was supposed to be that dude at Nebraska, sat, and Oregon's now done this three years in a
12:12row.
12:12Dante Moore was supposed to be that dude at UCLA, transferred to Oregon, sat behind Dylan Gabriel, and now Dylan
12:18Raiola did the same thing, was supposed to be that dude at Nebraska, transferred to sit behind Dante Moore, got
12:22his moment a little earlier than we expected, and balled out.
12:25And you don't see that a lot in college football, especially now at the NIL, where guys can just go
12:30and start and play.
12:32Oregon has perfected.
12:33Now, they have resources.
12:34They're great.
12:35They can afford to pay Dylan Raiola probably a starter-level backup salary, if you want to call it that.
12:41But the dude played fantastic.
12:43And Oregon, it seems like they've got their edge back a little bit.
12:46And does that start with their head coach?
12:49Because Dan Lanning was just dropping bombs across the board.
12:53First of all, whether it's about this play, he was like, I thought it was a disgusting play.
12:57And the energy changed.
12:59A lot of guys on the sidelines, they were emotional in that moment, including myself.
13:02He talked about how USC doesn't have any fans.
13:06After the fact, he's running up to the Oregon fans.
13:08And he feels like the energy starts with him.
13:11It does start with him.
13:13And him, what was it that he said about, if you want to go to USC, you go to a
13:18Chris Brown concert.
13:19If you want to come play football in this era, you go play at Oregon.
13:23And it's just like, he's saying that right after the game.
13:26This guy has a lot of passion.
13:27It's why a lot of us consider Oregon to be one of the top two or three teams in the
13:31country coming into the season.
13:32Now, they haven't played like that through their first four games.
13:35But this is a turning point in my mind where if I had to pick who could win the Big
13:39Ten this year because Oregon's only loss was to Oklahoma State, I would still pick Oregon to win this conference
13:45based off what I've seen.
13:46Now, speaking of the Big Ten, not only did I think for half a second the Cowboys and Ravens were
13:52going to replicate the end of the Michigan-Western-Michigan game.
13:56And I'm pretty sure there's still some people that feel that way.
13:59But it was interesting to see, not in terms of the clock, but Michigan having that last play flipped against
14:05them against Iowa.
14:07What do we make of the Iowa team this year?
14:10And I realize it was only 20-19, but that's been the issue with Iowa forever.
14:15The defense looks good, but watching them play offense is like watching 1941 football.
14:20It is, but that was what was cool about that two-minute drive.
14:23They had to go 91 yards.
14:25Now, they got the penalty that helped, certainly, on an unnecessary roughness call that was, again, not a great play
14:31from Michigan's cornerback after the play was over, shoving a guy out of bounds.
14:34But that happens a lot in football on drives like that.
14:36And this Iowa team, you never question their toughness, the physicality.
14:40Like you said, it's always been the offense.
14:42Now, they get Ohio State at home this Saturday.
14:44Iowa's moved up to 14th in the country.
14:47Iowa seems to play in these games a lot where they are undefeated but haven't played anybody.
14:51And then they play in Ohio State or Michigan and get destroyed.
14:54But they just took care of Michigan on the road.
14:56That, to me, signaled this might be a different Hawkeye team this year.
14:59Am I going to pick them to beat Ohio State?
15:01Maybe not.
15:02But I believe that game is going to be extremely competitive.
15:04I would not be surprised if Iowa is in the playoffs at the end of the season.
15:09I could see them going 10-2 and making the playoff as an at-large Big Ten team.
15:14You'd be pretty surprised if Oklahoma or Texas A&M were in the playoff there, right?
15:18I would be floored if either one of those teams made the playoff.
15:22What did they ever do, man?
15:23It is, oh, you man.
15:26That game against Georgia in the John Mateer fumble, it was just such a microcosm of where he is at
15:32as a quarterback.
15:32He turned the ball over three straight drives!
15:34Yeah.
15:35And his coach was like, I almost pinched.
15:36But you don't have another answer.
15:38And same thing at A&M.
15:39Marcel Reed.
15:40Yep.
15:41Both those guys coming into the year, we almost boxed them together.
15:44Yeah.
15:44It was like, they'll go as far as their quarterbacks can take them.
15:46Four games into the year, their season's essentially over because their quarterbacks can't take them anywhere.
15:52I knew this.
15:53I picked OU and A&M to be my two teams that started in the top 10 to be unranked
15:58at the season's end.
15:59Oh, I remember.
15:59And that's looking pretty good.
16:01Good decision on that.
16:02I'm sorry, Kevin.
16:03Yeah, I apologize.
16:04You were right, and you were honest, and that's okay.
16:06So, as an A&M fan, I can still enjoy the games, but probably not get my heart broken because,
16:13hey.
16:147-5, here we come.
16:16Yeah, 7-5, 6-6, maybe.
16:19I could see a scenario, though, where OU's defense is legitimately good.
16:23I have more questions about A&M as an overall roster.
16:26Red River, in a couple weeks, I could still see a world where OU makes Arch's life very difficult and
16:32can hang in that game.
16:34I'm looking at A&M going, I don't know if they can hang in Alabama.
16:37They've got to go to Bama.
16:38I mean, there's just some tough games on that schedule.
16:40The Texas game at the end of the year, I believe.
16:42That's in Austin.
16:43That is correct.
16:43And so, I'm not seeing a lot of hope for A&M.
16:46I could still see a way where OU's defense carries into an 8-4, 9-3 season.
16:51Now, you can pivot to either one of these if you want.
16:54And by the way, I should have said this at the beginning.
16:56I mean, Brennan knows tons about college football.
17:00If there's any particular game or team that you want to.
17:04I mean, all that stuff he just said.
17:05But if you want to dive into any particular game or team, I'm sure we can do that.
17:11But are you more intrigued right now by Indiana's close call and losing their running back?
17:18Heck, or just how good is Florida?
17:21I'm more intrigued by what John Summerall is doing at Florida.
17:24Yeah.
17:25With Jaden Baugh and Duke Clark.
17:26The running game is aggressive.
17:28Have you seen 14 Days in Gainesville?
17:31No.
17:32It's either 30 for 30 or E60 or whatever.
17:35But it's about Spurrier and the Gators' early ascension while there's also a serial killer in the area running parallel.
17:45It's pretty fascinating.
17:46And that's separate than an Aaron Hernandez story.
17:49Sure.
17:49Exactly.
17:50That's a different one.
17:50That's way back in.
17:52This is prior to thumb check Urban Meyer.
17:54Wow.
17:55Fascinating stuff.
17:56Well, hopefully John Summerall doesn't have anything like that going on.
17:58But they have been extremely impressive.
18:00That Ole Miss team beats LSU at home, has all this momentum.
18:04And then Florida goes and drops 50 on them.
18:06And they're dropping 50 on everybody.
18:08And it's through the run game.
18:10And Jaden Baugh looks like the best running back in the country.
18:13John Summerall, who came over from Tulane.
18:16Is bringing in different level of toughness that we haven't seen in Gainesville in a long time.
18:20They go at Mizzou this week.
18:22I think they'll win that game.
18:23And this team is looking at a Georgia.
18:24They have to play Texas and Georgia in two of their next five games.
18:28If they split that, this is a playoff team.
18:30Yeah.
18:31I mean, this is a legitimate playoff team.
18:32And I think they could compete with anybody in the country based off what I've seen on the field.
18:37You know, you mentioned scoring 50.
18:39The last time Florida scored 50 in three of its first four games was the national championship season.
18:45And under Spurrier.
18:46So that's going to be fascinating to watch.
18:48How concerned should Indiana fans be?
18:51They might just be like, I don't know.
18:52I'm living my best life.
18:53I got a title.
18:55But the close loss, losing your running back or a running back.
18:59How are we feeling?
19:00Or the close win.
19:01They beat Northwestern by six.
19:02Close win.
19:02I'm sorry.
19:02Close win, yes.
19:03I don't know.
19:04It's hard because they didn't look fantastic against Northwestern.
19:07Then they don't give up a point in two straight games.
19:09Now, granted, I know it was Howard and Western Kentucky.
19:11And then Northwestern, they might be a little better than people thought.
19:14It's not necessarily like they were supposed to go beat Northwestern by 40.
19:18We might just assume that.
19:19They have at Rutgers this Saturday who's not any good.
19:21And then at Nebraska.
19:23And then they get that home bout with Ohio State.
19:25I said at the beginning of the year, I'm kind of just waiting for the Ohio State game
19:29to make my judgment on Indiana.
19:31I don't take too much stock in finding ways to win games against conference opponents
19:36if it's not as deep as it should have been.
19:38So, in my mind, I'm willing to wait until that Ohio State game to find out if Indiana is
19:43legit or not.
19:44The answer might be the Notre Dame game.
19:46But for SMU to climb higher and higher and be able to get to a position where they could
19:52be in the playoff, are there any other games that are going to help them along the way?
19:57Just real quick, fascinating kind of turn of events.
20:00They lose to Louisville.
20:01Louisville loses to Wake Forest.
20:03So, that's where I was going to go is they get Wake Forest at home right before the Notre
20:09Dame game.
20:09Wake Forest looks a little better than people thought.
20:12Miami, they gave Miami some fits a little bit too.
20:15And then they also have Virginia Tech at home and James Franklin.
20:18And they look like they could be pretty good this year.
20:20So, those two games I'd have an eye on.
20:22They have Virginia at home, Boston College at home, Cal at home the next three weeks.
20:26So, I don't think any of those three teams will give them too much of a fight.
20:29Though Missouri State was making it look a little uncomfortable for a little bit.
20:33But I would say Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, if they win both those games and then have
20:38a competitive loss against Notre Dame, I still think there's a chance for SMU to make the
20:41playoff.
20:42Great news for Aggies that, like me, that game is actually at Kyle Field.
20:47So, you better watch out, Longhorns.
20:49This person has texted this in for a couple of weeks.
20:53And I haven't asked it, and I should have.
20:56Where do you put Texas State in the Pac-12 hierarchy?
21:00Because I know before the season, we talked about it for a minute.
21:03But he wants to know, or she, if Texas State can win the Pac-12.
21:08You can answer that.
21:08But I'll also say, where do they fit in the hierarchy?
21:11Um, I don't think they're on the same level as Boise State.
21:15And I think one team that has surprised a lot of people this year is Oregon State.
21:20Oregon State hung tough with Houston on the road.
21:22They hung tough with Texas Tech at home.
21:24They throw the ball all over the field.
21:26LaGree, their receiver, is one of the top receivers in the country.
21:29So, I would say that Texas State, you know, I mean, I know they kind of looked like we
21:35thought maybe they could hang with Texas in terms of like a cover.
21:39Kevin Walker on FanU as well was saying, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas State gives
21:42Texas someone comfortable moments throughout the game.
21:44And it was 59-7.
21:45They lose to UTSA.
21:47But the win against North Texas looked pretty good.
21:50So, I don't know.
21:51But I would say they've got to go at Boise, at Oregon State in back-to-back weeks.
21:54I think that Washington State's probably better than them.
21:57So, I wouldn't put them as my top spot to compete for the Pac-12 title.
22:02And then Baylor.
22:05Baylor, I was just kind of looking at it.
22:07I don't know if you're with me on this.
22:09Baylor is tough because their gauntlet is at the very end of the season.
22:13So, you can think whatever, but it feels like that at BYU, host Tech, at Houston series
22:20is what's going to determine where they are.
22:22Yeah, the question with Baylor is really how do you view them compared to the middle of
22:26the pack?
22:27Do you think they're better than Arizona State, TCU, UCF, Iowa State?
22:31That's their next four or five games before, as you mentioned, they end the year at BYU
22:36versus Texas Tech and at Houston.
22:38I would think, in my opinion, that Baylor is more in that middle of the pack.
22:42They play at Arizona State this weekend.
22:44That game will tell me a lot.
22:45If Baylor goes into Tempe and beats Arizona State, who's another middle of the pack Big
22:4912 team, maybe we can look at Baylor as being a 7-2 team, 6-3 team heading into that
22:55last
22:56three-game stretch and make some noise.
22:58I haven't seen enough because DJ Lagway hasn't been healthy.
23:01And they did struggle at home with Colorado, who I don't think is that good.
23:04It was 13-13 going into the fourth quarter.
23:07So, the Big 12 is hard because really outside of, right now, BYU, Utah, and then maybe Texas
