00:27so let's go through some of the bullet points before we get into specifics five of the top
00:34seven teams in the ap poll lost on the same day for the first time in the 90 year history

00:41we were really close to being six yes you had to go to double overtime for miami it could have

00:47seven uh no because the two played i'm saying like ohio state definitely could have lost this
00:53but then it would have still been six because they played indiana that's what i'm saying though
00:58indiana lost so we'll just count that okay ohio state would have lost to somebody and then miami
01:03would have been the only victor okay maybe allegedly unless i'm following yeah i see what you're saying

01:29have been three different number one teams in a three-week span in a single season since 2012
01:34and the last time georgia notre dame alabama texas and penn state lost in the same saturday
01:41was never wow that's that's an insane insane stat it really is so which game
01:49grabbed your attention first is the one that you accurately predicted i did accurately predict
01:56byu over notre dame but that didn't grab my attention as that shocked me because i think that
02:02byu is really good what surprised me the most was georgia losing at home to auburn when i saw that

02:08like i cannot believe that georgia looked to me i sat here last tuesday saying they in my mind look
02:14like the most complete team in the sport with not a ton of holes and then they go lose to

02:19at home after beating alabama on the road it doesn't make any sense and that's why college
02:25football right now for the people that are saying nil has ruined this sport the sport is as good as
02:31it's ever been it's now any given saturday it's the nfl any team can beat someone week to week we
02:37saw the cardinals beat the rams it doesn't totally shock you this would have shocked you in college
02:41football five years ago it's awesome that we get to really watch games now and have no idea what's
02:46going to happen so give me cut number 12 because this is how it went down and i i got

02:53this game and my wife was like oh is this a big game and i said theoretically it's not supposed

02:58be a big game georgia is favored by three touchdowns but as you watch it play out then you get

03:25that is the kind of enthusiasm i think was required in this moment i think they did a good job

03:31let's go back to byu and notre dame because hey the game ended and everything was fine right
03:38nobody had a problem with the way it ended or anything i didn't see any complaints about an
03:41extra second except they did cory oh no the big 12 put out a statement that helps nobody following
03:50the big 12's review of the final play of notre dame byu is determined that time remained on the clock
03:56when the ball hit the ground and the play was incorrectly cleared by the replay officiating
04:01crew so we're gonna play that last second again i'm just kidding what they actually said was we
04:06will conduct a review of our end of game officiating process now i think they should play the one second
04:12uh agree they should always have like a tuesday some random tuesday they reschedule that game uh just in
04:19case just the last last second one second of the game bring all the fans back you know
04:24get game day back in town yeah bring game preview preview the last play of the game herb streets
04:30dogs you know what kind of play do you think they're gonna run yeah let's talk about it for

04:40that would be amazing now controversy aside what does this say about byu and what does this say
04:49about notre dame i think now maybe face a must win against miami uh yeah i'll get to the notre

04:54in a second what it shows to me about byu is that bear bachmeyer is one of the best quarterbacks

04:59the country no one was giving byu any sort of chance when lj martin they're all big 12 running back

05:06down he didn't play in the game byu's defense flew around bear bachmeyer was efficient i mean heck
05:11he caught a pass he threw for a touchdown he ran for a touchdown he can do it all he

05:16so much as a passer from last season i watched him play in person twice a year ago against texas
05:22tex defense you can tell he just wasn't understanding concepts as well as a freshman quarterback he
05:27played phenomenal against notre dame that stood out to me the most and then you're right on the
05:30notre dame side of things their toughest game left is miami at home by a mile then they have smu
05:36if they lose to miami who is notre dame beaten that we're going to look at a 10 and 2

05:42potentially and go that team deserves to be in over a heck even a 9 and 3 maybe alabama team

05:48a 11 and 1 by uh byu utah texas tech houston team so if you had to project right now

05:54lose to miami by you know 10 points the game's somewhat competitive but you knew miami was going
06:01to win do you envision them just not making it then based off of what you said i think a

06:06dame with losses to miami and byu does not get them in the playoff they would it would be the

06:13thing as a year ago they would get left out interesting they would it they would have to
06:19be left out yeah you would think you would yeah i and at least last year they set a good

06:25of because people like you said all the time are like i'm so tired well because the argument for a
06:30lot of the sec teams the bubble teams that aren't winning the conference or 11 and 1 is well they

06:35this team right you know they beat this team notre dame notre dame doesn't have a who they beat
06:39and they don't really have a who did they play did they have a good loss and you can make

06:44argument that miami would be a good loss but it's at home like you're you should probably win that
06:50game now i want to talk more about texas but first let's pivot over to ucla so ucla loses their
06:58quarterback who wasn't playing particularly well and that kind of feels like the story of parts of
07:06his career thus far how big of a loss is this for ucla and how do they continue to win

07:14heavily on their run game and their defense and so they play a smash mouth version of football so i
07:19think that you're going to eventually need a quarterback nico iamala of abba he's like what

08:36me that ucla would be the only team left standing undefeated in the big 10 or sec seven weeks into
08:42the season pretty stunned those betting odds would have been crazy and that's where we're at now
08:49speaking of the big 10 go and give me cut number 13 because we're going to get to texas and

08:54there's a lot to break down there but this was a huge game as well that went down to the

09:14so indiana loses essentially by a foot right yeah maybe inches yeah that game how encouraging is
09:23that game for indiana because we had discussion beforehand there were some people who thought
09:28man they might get walked off of that field i know they had a whole winning streak going and
09:33that snapped that i understand all of that but this does not feel as defeating for indiana or is that
09:39loser talk no i agree i think that indiana's defense is still legitimate their running game is really
09:44good everything they were great at a year ago they're still really good at right minus fernando
09:50mendoza winning them games in the fourth quarter right if you recall last year we think they went 16-0
09:54and just killed everybody that wasn't the case they had to win close against iowa
09:58they had to win close against penn state against oregon against ohio state in the big 10 championship
10:03game they weren't some dominant dominant 16-0 team so to see that they're still winning close
10:08games finding a way to beat nebraska on the road i still think indiana is a playoff team
10:14they just don't have the number one overall pick at quarterback this year that goes and finds them
10:19away but josh huber heck i mean like you said he's a foot away from them doing that yeah and

10:24having a different conversation today now on the flip side of that ohio state gets the win they also
10:29lose their quarterback twofold question here for y'all how big of a deal is that and is julian saying

11:01that's where it's going to be extremely difficult in my mind they still have to play oregon i know
11:05they're struggling you have the rivalry game against michigan you just never know in that game
11:09if julian saying it's not playing it's going to be a lot harder to win those games they have to

11:13at usc in uh two weeks so a couple losses for ohio state nine and three without julian saying
11:20you could be looking at a situation where they're left out and you're going to look back on that
11:24texas loss and just be like how in the blue hell did we lose that game and that's looking at

11:37things but what to do what to do with the university of texas and arch manning so a couple of

11:45for you we talked about it yesterday they were uh maybe farming out some of the uh the first uh

11:51first team reps but will arch manning get benched during the regular season yes is only a plus 150 at
11:59the beginning of the year that feels like it would have been crazy and now he is also a minus

12:05back on the team next year just because that's fascinating it really is because you just think
12:11about it at the beginning of the season cory i tell you arch manning might get benched and he'll
12:17definitely be back at texas next year don't you feel like you'd be like definitely yeah there's no
12:22way i would think it but i do wonder if how much of it is texas doesn't want him back

12:30he doesn't think this is the place for him anymore you're talking about a worst case scenario
12:34situation for texas here where let's say they lose to ole miss at home again this saturday
12:38they could which they could that's the seventh ranked team in the country they're four and three
12:43you still have to go on the road at missouri on the road at lsu and on the road at
12:48a&m and i know
12:48it's a&m but you can say the same thing about texas right like it's still a game in college

12:54not only would arch manning not be back if you were to lose two of those games and go eight

12:59with the expectations that you had i think stark is out the door arch manning has shown that he's
13:04clearly not ready to be an nfl quarterback he's probably out the door you're looking at another
13:08program reset at texas if they were to go eight and four this year i think and i think that
13:14would be
13:16fair for sark because this would then theoretically though at the same point they have the talent on
13:23this roster that if you tell me they break off the rest of the schedule and only lose two then
13:28they'll be in the playoff for sure yeah i mean they could go they could go six and oh the

13:31the way and they'd be a playoff team absolutely but if you tell me that you have back-to-back
13:36seasons
13:36in which you were the number one team in the country at some point and didn't make the playoff
13:41either time that feels like a fireable offense nobody would look at this roster and say that's
13:47not a playoff team we all know that the talent is on texas linemen your defense is fantastic yeah you
13:53might have the best defensive player in college i think you do and colin simmons then it's not all
13:58arch manning i don't want to say the offense is all terrible they can't run the football the
14:02offensive line isn't great but with the skilled players that are on that side of the ball there
14:07is no excuse to be ranked in the bottom 100th and fbs in offensive rankings at texas that that that

14:14a fireable that is a reason for sark to not be he is over the offense yeah so that's on

14:20now for arch manning his qbr is 61st in college football and i get the name i really do i
14:29thought
14:29what sarkisian said last week was laughable about oh if he had any other name everyone would be like
14:34oh he's doing a great job and i was like i don't think so dude if he had any other
14:37name he'd be
14:38playing in toledo but right now will he be selected in the first round of the draft if he enters

14:45draft minus 250 is a yes what is it that people besides the name and the pedigree have seen from
14:54him to think that's a dude who can be a franchise quarterback i don't know i it's a certain moments
14:59perhaps where he does throw a 42 yard strike and he can showcase certain arm talent he has the ability
15:05to run there's still traits about him that if they were to get that's fair refined he could be a
15:12very
15:12good quarterback he has shown nothing in terms of on-field production through the course of the
15:17last two and a half seasons to suggest that he should be a first round pick that a franchise would
15:22trust to put their faith in him to turn them around like if you're the new york jets right now
15:27you think arch manning's going to be the guy that's going to turn your franchise around no no it's it's

15:33the way for all nfl teams this is going to be an all-time quarterback draft you're looking at the

15:38it's kind of shaking out arch manning has fallen off dante moore he got hurt yeah and and so now
15:44you're like okay mensa chambliss like a mess to maker is getting a lot of love yeah and i think
15:54and they lost i think you saw some faltering from him this week although i know they came back and
15:59made it pretty close but this this draft class is as jennings yeah we should probably be
16:05kevin jennings at smu yeah give me some kevin jennings no one's talking about smu right now
16:09what about the kid from missouri as a quarterback i mean you you'd think so then they go to mississippi
16:15and they can't even score a touchdown right he looks lost against an ole miss defense it's not
16:20great so there hasn't been one guy darian mensaw right now in the country is probably the only
16:25quarterback that can say i've stayed consistent to what i was week one to week six as a potential
16:32first round pick and probably the second candidate to win the heisman right now wouldn't you think i
16:38would agree i mean cj carr even against byu's defense so that's a tough environment on the road
16:42but looked a little shaky he's projected to be a top five quarterback prospect
16:46so it's a weird year i if i'm the cardinals the jets the titans the charming the charters have
16:53herbert but they're on six right it's just a you know you're not confident i think in a lot of
16:58these guys based off what you've seen through seven weeks in the season all right cory you
17:02have a decision to make okay would you like to talk about two lane football okay go back to the
17:07big 12 or talk about you and brennan's favorite wide receiver that is not named jeremiah smith
17:13oh jeremiah smith's fun though he is discussion but yeah let's talk about our favorite receiver
17:18all right brennan who is your favorite wide receiver in college football that is not named jeremiah
17:24smith that would be true freshman out of oregon state jesse lagree who is taking the sport by storm
17:31through seven weeks and he has done it again so he has 100 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown
17:38in every single game this year now you're about to hear a horrible comparison of somebody who i also
17:46thought was going to be awesome in the nfl that seven game streak is the second longest within a season
17:52in the last 20 years the only one longer justin blackman from oklahoma state and that is somebody
17:58that i was like that dude is elite and he will be awesome and then unfortunately off the field stuff
18:04really took him down but what is it about this oregon state receiver that is in fact as you said
18:11and cory you've brought him up a couple of times already this season that is taking college football by
18:16storm well he's got second level speed he just blows by the secondary and i watched a full game of

18:21do this to texas tech's defense week two texas tech where i'm a graduate of watching i'm like how
18:26are we letting this kid just 30 yards per care it was it was wild and now five weeks later

18:32oh okay this guy's just really good and he is silky smooth and atkinson their quarterback throws a
18:38beautiful deep ball they are old school air raid type offense they don't even want to run the football
18:42they are just slinging it around the yard it is so much fun to watch and i saw i believe

18:47three they released their top five heisman front runners and he was number four so he's getting
18:52national recognition now that oregon state team if they beat boise will go 10 and 2 they could be in
18:58the playoff and it would be awesome to have lagree be on a national spotlight moment like that
19:02because he is so talented is the team then already better than you thought it would be

21:09of the playoff as well yeah connor wegman has been fantastic for houston this season former a&m

21:19doesn't have a job but it uh houston's really good data everybody was talking about oklahoma state
21:24because of the oregon win and rightfully so their offense is dynamic there are a lot of
21:28fun to watch but they have a ton of holes on defense and those got exposed against houston
21:32saturday night in houston houston now one loss in the big 12 only to texas tech oklahoma state now
21:37has the one loss to houston and now houston's going on the road in salt lake city this weekend to
21:42utah
21:43who does not have a loss yet either so there's two teams in the state of utah they're in the
21:47top 10
21:48and undefeated and then they face each other november 7th uh utah and byu it's going to be awesome so
21:55the big 12 right now is in a really good position because tech doesn't play byu or utah now they

22:02oklahoma state but there's the way that these games shake up there's not a ton of tiebreaker
22:06opportunities so you could be looking at a scenario where houston if they were to beat utah go 11 and
22:12one utah lose to byu and then went out there 11 and one byu's only losses utah they're 11 and

22:18and tech sitting there undefeated or maybe a loss and still water now they're 11 and one oklahoma
22:22state's 10 and 2 like the chaos is going to ensue in the big 12 where we're going to be
22:27having
22:27conversations in december about is an 11 and 1 big 12 team more worthy than a 9 and 3 big
22:3410 or 10 and
22:352 notre dame it's going to be fascinating but these teams are good and no one's talking about arizona
22:41who was ranked in the fifth top 15 in the esp plus and just got ranked in the ap poll

23:31last or at the end of last week and they're like 2014 playoff we already knew that we were already
23:37moving in that direction what do you guys think about the concept of the 2014 playoff and are we
23:44going to have to hold our breath again when they're like but this time the deal's almost
23:47they're getting near more near oh yeah i i've changed my tune on this and i think this last
23:53weekend showcases why a lot of us should i understand that college football has been about you have to go
23:5811 and 1 or 12 and 0 to make the playoff and each week matters i still think it will

24:03to watch now now we have more parity than ever the sport is more competitive and more deep than it's
24:08ever been i think maybe in the history of the of the ncaa and because of that we're going to

24:14competitive games in december i was adamantly against the playoff expansion after this last weekend
24:22and saying well you never know what a team looks like right throughout the course of the year
24:26these games could be really fun i mean you're telling me right now that you wouldn't want to
24:31watch let's say texas and notre dame in the first round of a playoff like december 7th that would be
24:37a fascinating game to watch right i think it's fun and i think that the sport's going there we have

24:43accept it and in the in the long run i think more fans will enjoy the fact that their team
24:49could be
24:50playing meaningful football in november and december i kevin stand by our long ago uh created idea
25:00yes of every time we get to time to create the pool of teams the committee goes into the room
25:09and comes out and says we've decided only eight teams are going to make it this year uh or only
25:15you decide each year how many numbers based on how many good teams you actually have
25:20it's like the oscars when they were like all right you can have up to 10 that's what we would

25:25can have that's fun i had actually i think i had up to like 16 i was like i'll take
25:2916 that's fine to
25:3016 yeah that would be a lot of fun one thing i think it does do though is it takes

25:35paying disrespect to condoleezza rice but it like you know these people are humans they go into a room
25:40and they're like oh condoleezza rice is talking about texas tech's red zone offense not being good enough for
25:45them not make the playoff i'm like come on like that's crazy so let's let it will take away
25:50i don't know maybe it'll take away she's been crunching the numbers maybe condoleezza rice is sitting
25:56there analyzing every team's red zone offense and so i think that the 24 team it's going to minimize
26:01the debate a little bit and take away that human element i think because realistically i do not think
26:07that we're going to look at 25 through 30 as an eight and four team and go oh man i
26:12hear you
26:13but there's going to be another eight and four team that's going to feel like they got screwed yeah
26:16and they're going to so there's always going to be somebody that feels like they got jobbed out of
26:20the out of the whole thing but if you can't win not if you know you're we still haven't changed

26:25with basketball when they're like i can't believe virginia tech's not one of the best 68 and you're
26:29like shut up right at 1911 or whatever exactly where can people hear your condoleezza rice and other
