00:00So today I want to talk about rumors, which is one of the worst things we can possibly encounter on
00:04a daily basis.
00:05A rumor. A currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.
00:09So people create rumors out of jealousy or hatred or sometimes they're just simple miscommunications.
00:15Not all rumors are cruel, but when I think of the word rumor, I automatically think of someone making up
00:19some kind of story
00:20that could result in someone else's feelings getting hurt.
00:23I mentioned before that I was bullied and a lot of it was people making up rumors about me and
00:28spreading them around
00:28and for some reason it was cool to make up such terrible things to make my life even harder.
00:35And these rumors range from cheating on a test to trying to get with everybody else's boyfriend at that school.
00:40I can guarantee that all of us have touched base with a rumor, whether it be starting it or unknowingly
00:45spreading it
00:46or actually being the victim of these ridiculous stories.
00:50Personally, I've been working on getting the full truth before even making any kind of assumptions,
00:54whether it be a topic or a person.
00:57Because really there is never only one side to a story.
01:00There's always at least two and you don't want to get involved in something that you don't know all about.
01:05Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is trustworthy.
01:08And there are people who are, you know, they feel so bad about themselves
01:11and they think the only way to make themselves feel better is to pull other people down.
01:16And that's definitely not the way to go.
01:17And rumors are an easy way to ruin someone's reputation and sometimes even their lives.
01:21So whenever I hear someone's talking about me and associating me with something I don't want to be associated with,
01:26whether it be making up something or just talking about how I'm dating someone who I'm totally not dating,
01:31I immediately go to the people that have been talking about this and stringing along
01:36and ask where they heard this.
01:38And I tell them the truth, you know, this is what it is.
01:40And if they deny being a part of it, I just go, you know what, I just heard you were.
01:44I want to make sure I was clear out of the way.
01:45Because I don't want to have any kind of resentment against any of these people
01:50because it could be a simple miscommunication.
01:52Someone could really think it was true and they were just talking about it later.
01:55But if something's not true, I don't want it to be out there at all.
01:59Because no one really deserves to be talked about in such a hateful way.
02:03So what are your experiences with rumors?
02:04Are you battling one now or are you actually spreading one about something?
02:07Because that's not very nice.
02:08Just know that you can get through it.
02:10And the people who care about you and love you know the truth
02:12and they're not going to go about taunting you with it or anything.
02:16It's not a big deal.
