00:04hi everyone today I'm going to show you how to crochet the chainless foundation double crochet
00:13as you can see this is a row of double crochet stitches and guess what I did not have to
00:21do any
00:22chains to begin with well there are just a few chains to start actually but those will be the
00:30only ones you have to do I promise so here's what we do first get out your yarn and your
00:39crochet hook
00:40I'm using some extra thick and bulky yarn along with a huge hook this one is 10 millimeters so
00:50that hopefully it's a little bit easier for you to see the stitch and where I'm putting my hook
00:57alright so let's begin go ahead and grip your yarn and you're going to chain three to begin these three
01:09chains will be the only change you ever have to make for this stitch so I'm gonna begin with one
01:20two and three chains like so next yarn over pretend you're gonna make a double crochet and you're going
01:33to insert your hook into that third chain from your hook all right yarn over but instead of making a
01:43double crochet like normal you're going to pull through so that you have three loops on your hook
01:51this is the magical step to creating that foundation so what you do now is yarn over again and pull
02:00through
02:00it only that first loop you still have three loops on your hook now finish off the double crochet like
02:11normal that means yarn over pull through two loops yarn over pull through the last two loops and that is
02:22our very first double crochet stitch on our foundationless I'm sorry our chainless foundation double crochet now
02:34let's do a few more yarn over and insert your hook into that last double crochet so I'm gonna stick
02:46it in
02:46right here oops this book yarn is a little bit splitty all right pull through so you have three loops
02:58on your hook
02:59yarn over yarn over pull through only that first loop there we've got the foundation down now we can go
03:07ahead and make a double crochet like normal so pull through there's our second one let's do that again we're
03:17going to insert our hook again into that previous double crochet the foundation part so I'm gonna insert my hook
03:27there
03:29yarn over yarn over pull through so I have three loops yarn over pull through that first loop I'm building
03:38my
03:39foundation and then I finish my double crochet as usual so let's I'm going to do it a few more
03:48times so you can
03:49kind of see how you can kind of see how that works yarn over insert into the bottom pull through
04:00finish the
04:02double crochet yarn over insert into the bottom make that foundation and finish the double crochet
04:14yarn over yarn over insert hook into the foundation make the foundation and finish that double crochet there we go
04:39so now I have a few double crochets on my or on my foundation so far and I did it
04:49all without chaining
04:50making chains so now that you have that skill down it'd be a good idea to figure out or be
05:00able to count and
05:01know how many double crochets you have if you're like me you have a hard time keeping track of the
05:08numbers
05:09while you are actually crocheting you usually have to go back and count so looking at the vertical
05:16columns of double crochets I can count one two three four five six and seven double crochets this one at
05:29the
05:29end is our beginning chain three so that does not count as a double crochet thank you so much for
