00:00We might as well hear from Drake May, the guy we all have massive, massive questions about.
00:05He spoke after the game yesterday and talked about not being able to get out of his own way.
00:09I think it's disappointing.
00:11You know, I think the ball starts rolling like that.
00:16We can't get out our own way and, you know, can't get out of my own way personally.
00:19So we got to, you know, I got to look myself in the mirror and look and take this as
00:24a turning point.
00:25You know, it's, you know, week three.
00:26At the same time, we got to have some fuel and realize that what we're doing out there offensively is
00:32unacceptable for three weeks.
00:35So I got to start with myself and then lead these guys and we got to get back after it.
00:41Wiggy, can I ask you a question as a former professional athlete?
00:44Is there a chance that he just like, and I don't want to say this about my guy, but is
00:49there a chance that he just like mentally doesn't have it?
00:52Because guys like Brett Favre and Peyton Manning would go out and they threw six picks in a single game
00:56before and they still came out the next day and we're still Hall of Famers.
01:00Like, is this just, is this like something he just found it in the Seahawks game, got the yips and
01:05like, there's like a chance he never returns?
01:08Like, I don't know what is going on with him.
01:09Yeah, and we've seen that, we've seen that before by certain players and this where I would say, Courtney, you,
01:16you're right in saying kind of like he's now getting into the, the realm of his confidence might just be
01:24like, he don't, he's going to be like a dare in headlights.
01:26And we've seen guys fall off the map like that before and chime off air.
01:30We were having this conversation where last season, a big point of pride for Drake may, I think was even
01:37if he turned the ball over, he was able to rebound quite quickly and not let it spiral him mentally,
01:42physically, nothing.
01:43It's a completely different quarterback we're seeing out there now.
01:46And that's why I think a Superbowl loss and, and letting in the noise of what the conversation was around
01:51Drake may, it it's led to him not having confidence in himself and he's, he's letting it spiral him.
01:59And that's what worries me.
02:00And that's why I asked the question of, do you think that you have guys in this locker room that
02:04at four o'clock today, less than 24 hours after a terrible loss like that yesterday, they're able to forget
02:11about it.
02:11I personally don't think the current type of player is able to do that.
02:15And I know that PFF is deeply flawed.
02:17We all agree.
02:18They are, they do a, they, you can take it with a grain of salt.
02:21However, there have been 50 people that have thrown a football in the NFL this season, 50 different players.
02:28According to PFF through three weeks, Drake may is the 50th ranked passer.
02:33Obviously that includes Chisholm.
02:35But you're talking about the worst quarterback in the NFL and you can't blame the defenses.
02:43Cause we saw what the Seahawks defense looked like against the commanders yesterday.
02:46So all those excuses are gone.
02:48All the things we've heard that have been the rationalizations for his poor play are out the window.
02:53He is messed with somehow in his brain.
02:56He is a complete and total puddle.
02:58And I don't know how you get them back, but it is that fourth quarter against the same Seahawks team.
03:04It's not just the Superbowl that Courtney brings up.
03:06It's that you begin the year against that same team.
03:09And you once again are the reason you lose it.
03:13Is he just the one hit wonder?
03:14Like, cause like you, you talk about guys like Justin Herbert, or we talk about guys like Dak Prescott or
03:20some of these other guys.
03:21Like, remember I gave you that passenger Prince category of guys.
03:24At least those guys have shown like, all right, I've struggled at times, but I can put up still good
03:30numbers.
03:30Like the pace that Drake may, Drake may is on numbers wise.
03:33Like, are you going, he might just have been a one hit wonder who hit lightning in a bottle, but,
03:40and I'm, and so shine to answer your question to where some of the people go.
03:44He was really never that good to start with when he was like Curtis brings up, uh, you know, uh,
03:52where he ranks and you look at turnovers and this is, you know,
03:57if you look at the last eight games or nine games or whatever it is, it's 15 or 16 turnovers.
04:04And I think that maybe hindsight being 2020, the fact that they won those playoff games, despite the turnovers, uh,
04:14maybe masked what he might actually be.
04:19Right.
04:19Yeah.
04:20Maybe.
04:20And also everybody's saying they can't run the ball.
04:22Well, it's chicken or the egg.
04:24You're, you're not able to run the ball because nobody fears Drake may throwing the ball.
04:28Right.
04:29So you're able to get your teams.
04:31You're able to game plan against Ramond Ray Stevenson and Travion Henderson in a way that you wouldn't, if you
04:35didn't fear Drake may.
04:38And the other thing is I don't want to hear another rationalization about the preseason because that's another thing that's
04:45percolated.
04:45No, no, nobody, nobody.
04:47Like we got to stop that.
04:48It is not the preseason.
04:49He, he, he could have played 50 quarters in the preseason.
04:52Listen, he is somehow mentally broken.
04:56Everything look great.
04:57Everything looks so much better when you have a bad game and you throw two touchdowns and one interception and
05:02we all go, and you win the football game.
05:05You're like, yeah, that's what I'm saying to you.
05:06Yeah.
05:06Like, I, I, all right.
05:08Well, can we call him Drake maybe for the rest of the season if this continues?
05:12Drake maybe.
05:13Drake maybe.
05:14I mean, it's a fair, fair question.
05:17I, I, I don't.
05:18I'm pretty sure that's trademarked by like the Bill Simmons podcast or something at this point.
05:22Yeah.
05:22I'll run it up the flagpole.
05:23Do you have your, do you have your Drake May lover shirt on today, Sean?
05:26I can't see you.
05:27No, I do not.
05:28I can't hear him actually.
05:30I believe Curtis tweeted out last night, Dre Mac.
05:33Drake Mac.
05:34I think I thought Sean was going to go with, uh, I love Drake May ex lover because Sean is
05:41at a point now before.
05:42I think he's starting to jump off the ship a little bit.
05:45But I, I'm just, I'm, I'm shooketh, Wiggy.
05:48I think we said that at the beginning of the show.
05:49I am shooketh to my core at this point.
05:51I don't know what to believe.
05:53I like the guy was amazing last year.
05:56And right.
05:56You know, that guy is there somewhere, but this is not that guy.
05:59This is a far cry from an average NFL quarterback.
06:03So I don't even like know what I don't, I don't know where to begin.
06:06But Greg, Greg brought up like his college and, and people questioning what we saw out of him,
06:11out of him in college at UNC, you said you've been a fan of him since his junior year.
06:15So can you look back on that and say that the signs were there, that this could potentially happen?
06:18Not like this.
06:19Like, like we, and we talked about the potential for him to take a slight step back this year,
06:25just because his year, his year last year was so good, but you'd still think he'd be an above average
06:29quarterback.
06:30Like he is, as Curtis pointed out, we don't love PFF, but he's like the worst quarterback in football throwing
06:35the ball right now.
06:36And it, and it looks like it when you watch the games and I just don't, I it's, it, this
06:41is the nothing I have ever seen before ever.
06:44But I think it's fair to ask now with these three games, you know, clear in our mind, we're, we're
06:52many of us lulled into a false sense of security by the way the team performed in the, in the
07:00playoffs.
07:00So you said he was amazing in the playoffs.
07:04No, I said he was amazing last year.
07:05Well, okay.
07:07I thought you said he was amazing in the playoffs, but what was he, what was he really amazing last
07:12year?
07:13And the regular season, he was, he was doing things you shouldn't be able to do, Greg, which was attack,
07:18the attack defenses far down the field at a percentage,
07:22like completion percentage that shouldn't be like possible.
07:25You know what he was in the, in the playoffs?
07:27He was the perfect passenger, right?
07:30It was like a game manager.
07:31That's it.
07:32And if he was a game manager for game for the first three games, as Curtis pointed out, we were
07:36probably sitting here two and one, probably don't beat the Jaguars, but you beat the Seahawks.
07:39But he hasn't even been a game manager, which is the scary part.
07:43Right.
07:43I mean, they, they probably don't win yesterday, but it's a game.
07:47And the, the, the thing for me is looking back at last year.
07:50Now, if we were to perform an autopsy right now and say, why are we here?
07:57You have to go to Steph Diggs.
07:59I'm sorry.
08:00Like, that is a guy that possessed all the qualities that Drake doesn't, which is in your face, boisterous, doesn't
08:08let you get down, get up.
08:09Like the way he was on that sideline in his face, constantly screaming, doing the things that other guys do.
08:16He, not everybody's, you know, you're not going to, you don't have to be that guy, but you have to
08:19have those guys around and that he's replaced by the walking, sleeping pill and Romeo Dobbs, like just standing there.
08:26And I, and the other thing is, I believe before he gets benched, which Wiggy's right, I don't think he's
08:32going to get benched, even though some people may think it's the right decision.
08:35I wonder about Josh McDaniels.
08:37I don't blame him for Sunday.
08:38I don't put this at all in Josh at all.
08:39I'm not saying that I do.
08:40I don't, I was wrong yesterday.
08:41I thought Josh's game plan was perfectly fine.
08:44My question is at some point, you're going to have to figure that out.
08:50I don't know whether Ashton is the guy that, that is the one that's going to take him.
08:54But before you change the quarterback, you're saying make a change with Josh McDaniels.
08:58Is that the one that's causing the issue with Drake this year?
09:00I don't know.
09:01Honestly, I don't know.
09:02This is so bad.
09:03This is clearly in 100% Drake on Drake.
09:08I know it is, but the team is not going to move on from the player.
09:10They always move on.
09:11No, no, no.
09:12But I think if that decision were to happen, I think that decision is going to happen late
09:18at the end of the season when they are completely out of it, right?
09:22And they've only won two or three games and they're like, all right, now we need to change
09:28the offensive coordinator.
09:30But I would even think...
09:31I mean, even Shine would say, and he's had an issue with Josh McDaniels, you would say
09:36this is not at all on Josh McDaniels.
09:38What you saw yesterday had nothing to do with Josh McDaniels.
09:41Not a single thing.
09:43That interception in the end zone, it could have been me calling plays.
09:49It's not my fault.
09:50He just didn't see Travis Hunter.
09:51What Drake May is doing right now is not the offensive coordinator.
09:54As Mike Rabel said, it's a terrible decision.
09:57But it's also alarming when you're missing guys who are wide open, basically, in the form
10:05of Matt Collins and Bob Douglas.
10:09Like, I just...
10:11Like, Josh is scheming it up and you're overthrowing these guys, which is not good.
10:19You know what is a potential issue here?
10:22And Curtis brought this up and we've talked about, Courtney, you brought it up and him
10:29mentally not like him having to figure it out.
10:32And then Curtis's point about Steph Diggs.
10:35And I think Rabel alluded to this a little bit.
10:38So, if you need a player that's going to get your star quarterback or going to make sure
10:46your star quarterback is not getting in the dumps and down on himself, doesn't that say
10:53a lot about your star quarterback mentally?
10:56Yes.
10:56If that's the case, right?
10:58I don't know that that's...
11:01Maybe that's what Curtis was saying.
11:03I think Curtis is leaning more towards Diggs was a leader.
11:07Right.
11:08And that you had a comfort level with Diggs and with Kayshaun Booty that you don't have
11:14with Dobbs.
11:15You know, you didn't really...
11:17I mean, I guess he had it with Hunter Henry also.
11:20So, I mean, there are guys there that he has a comfort level with.
11:23I'm not making any excuses for him at all.
11:26It's also weird because last season he didn't have like a binky.
11:28He didn't go to one guy over and over again.
11:31And obviously he had a lot of confidence when it came to Booty.
11:34He had a lot of confidence when it came to Diggs.
11:36But Greg's right.
11:36He had a lot of confidence when it came to Hunter Henry.
11:40So you look this season and it's like, he doesn't have confidence in anyone.
11:43And I don't think any of those guys have confidence in him.
11:45And I'm not talking about on field in terms of like a guy to always go to.
11:49I'm talking about a guy to get him in a mindset.
11:51That's my point.
11:52I agree.
11:53I'm saying that this is...
11:54What we're seeing is not a physical issue.
11:56Drake May possesses every single skill you could want.
11:59Last year he had literally the best deep ball passing year in the history of the Patriots.
12:04They've had a pretty good quarterback before.
12:05He had a better year than Brady ever had throwing the deep ball.
12:08And he's more elusive.
12:10He's...
12:10All those things.
12:11He is shot mentally.
12:14And I think that he's carrying all of this this year.
12:16And it's burdening him.
