South Carolina star defensive end Dylan Stewart is facing an uncertain future after a heated incident during the Gamecocks’ loss to Alabama.
Stewart was ejected after punching Alabama tight end Josh Ford’s helmet during the game. He was also involved in an argument with coaches on the sideline, leading head coach Shane Beamer to announce an indefinite suspension on Sunday.
Beamer confirmed that Stewart will miss this week’s matchup against Kentucky while the program reviews what happens next. He emphasized that the punishment was about more than just the punch, pointing to the team’s expectations for accountability and conduct.
The suspension comes at a difficult time for Stewart, who is widely viewed as one of the top prospects for the 2027 NFL Draft. After recording 6.5 sacks as a freshman and earning All-SEC recognition last season, his next steps will now receive plenty of attention.
