00:00In this video I will show you how to reset laptop to factory settings.

00:05So I'll be showing you step by step how to factory reset your Windows laptop.

00:09Whether you're dealing with performance issues, Windows problems,

00:12or simply want to prepare your laptop for a new user,

00:15this guide will show you how to access the reset options and choose the right settings.

00:29To do this from your desktop what you want to do is come down to your search box in the

00:33taskbar at the bottom.

00:35In here you want to type settings and then open up your settings underneath best match.

00:40Once you're in your settings come over to this menu on the left hand side and click onto system.

00:46And then what you want to do is look for the option which is called recovery.

00:50So it's just a bit down this option here.

00:52Give it a click and that's going to take you to a screen like this.

00:55Now if you look in the recovery option section,

00:57you're going to see at the top the option to reset this PC.

01:01What you want to do is click the reset PC button and then you have two options.

01:06So you can either keep your files which means that your apps and settings will be removed,

01:11but your personal files will not be removed.

01:13Or if you want to completely factory reset your laptop,

01:16you want to select the option to remove everything.

01:18Once you've done that you want to choose how you would like to reinstall Windows.

01:22You have the choice between a cloud download or local reinstall.

01:25I would just recommend going for a local reinstall.

01:28And once that's done, you can come and click onto next.

01:31So now it's just going to take a minute to get everything ready to reset.

01:35Once that's done, you'll be taken to this screen,

01:37which is going to summarize what's going to happen when you reset your PC.

01:41Now, because you're going to be doing this on a laptop,

01:44I would recommend that you do have your laptop plugged in and you do not do this off the battery,

01:48as it can take some time to factory reset your laptop.

01:51And of course you don't want it to run out of power whilst it's factory resetting your laptop.

01:54To proceed from here, all you need to do is simply click reset.

01:58And that's going to start the process to factory reset your laptop.
