01:26Here are my 10 best quarterback coaching combos.
01:29I would say 10, and a little bit of this is because Brock Purdy's been banged up.
01:34Again, last year he got hurt.
01:35I'd put Shanahan and Purdy.
01:36They averaged 28 a game together.
01:39But, again, no Christian McCaffrey.
01:41I think Purdy is largely driven by Shanahan's play calling and McCaffrey's greatness,
01:47but he deserves credit.
01:48When he came back off his injury, Brock was excellent, so I would put them at 10.
01:53Okay, Brock and Shanahan, the number 10 coach-quarterback combo in the National Football League.

02:01Okay, so that is a month ago, almost five full weeks, and since then, Brock didn't play much in the
02:08preseason
02:08and went to Australia and looked really good and then looked amazing in week two.

02:17I tend to think the Niners are very close to pulling a Thelma and Louise and driving off the cliff
02:22here.
02:22I really do, for a lot of reasons.
02:24The Seahawks and the Rams have drafted so brilliantly over the last three years, very few misses,
02:31that the Niners, those are four games the Niners go in as an underdog.
02:35Those are young.
02:36And remember, young players get hurt less than old guys, and when they get hurt, they recover more quickly.
02:41So the Niners this season are, and whether you like Brock Purdy or not, and he's clearly an NFL starting

02:47they are really dependent on five older players.

02:52He's 38.
02:52Kittle, going to be a Hall of Famer off surgery.
02:55Nick Bosa coming off his second surgery.
02:58Christian McCaffrey led the NFL in touches.
03:00Mike Evans, who is often banged up, though I love him, and Fred Warner off a surgery as well.
03:06I think Fred will be fine.
03:07First big surgery for him.
03:08So don't forget their last two first-round picks.
03:11Ricky Pearsall, out for the year, injured.
03:13I mean, it's an epidemic every year with the Niners.
03:16And Mikel Williams, who is a great young talent, he's banged up and won't be there for week one.
03:21That's against the Rams in Australia.

03:34The saving grace for all of this in San Francisco is the NFL schedule makers did them a solid.
03:41It's the second easiest schedule in the league.
03:42And after they go to Australia in the land down under and get thumped by the Rams,
03:47they get both the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals at home.
03:51Then it gets much tougher.
03:53Then it's, you know, then it's the Seahawks on the road.
03:55Then it's the Denver Broncos.
03:57Then you've got to travel to the South.
03:58But they get a break after the Rams.
04:01But they are hanging on by peptides and a prayer.
04:05This is an old, old team, oldest roster in the NFL.
04:09And almost all their old guys are coming off serious surgeries.

14:49to protect the players, or what's your response to what he just said there?
14:53And here is Devontae Adams, who I love, by the way.
14:57First off, I don't know that that had anything to do with it in any way.
15:00I mean, the Niners went out there and played better football than us.
15:03They were more, you know, written and locked in in that game.
15:06So, that's what I attribute it to.
15:08I don't know about any of the, you know, trends or any of that stuff.
15:11You know, I kind of just want to put it behind me altogether.
15:14But, you know, that's just the type of guy that Sean is.
15:17He's going to make some fun of, you know, a not-so-great situation with last week, obviously.
15:23And, you know, it's a lot easier to laugh about it after a game like last night.

15:29But, at the end of the day, we don't have to go back to Australia.

15:35I, to me, as a Niner follower, those are the two moments I've kind of been waiting for.

15:48And, Devontae Adams then jumps in and goes, I'd like to point out that the 49ers flipping outplayed us.

15:58And that was from stem to stern, from opening kick to final horn.
16:02And, yes, it's easier for him to say that as opposed to, yeah, the coach did mess up.
16:07I mean, we were sluggish because of McVay.
16:10They both played their role very well.
16:12Yes, but, like, to me, I wanted to see it.

16:16Beating the Giants with Jameis Winston 28-6 is great, but I was much more drawn to that.
16:22Those two comments, for the first time, sound like a team that's not shook.

16:28It calmed them to freak down, and that allowed them, at least in their mind, to find a microphone and

16:47So a six-day arrival ahead of time, would that lead the Rams to be playing so much better that

16:56But they kind of have that built-in excuse by going last minute, and if they came home and they
17:02didn't go out and win over the Giants, then you'd be looking at it in a much more negative light.

18:39they all say the same thing, which is he sees it, he processes it, he makes the right throw most
18:45of the time, nobody's perfect.
18:47But all the boxes you want to check, and now you look at the tape, and I can't wait to
18:51ask Greg Cosell about some of the plays Brock made,
18:55the movement plays, the one where he rolls to his left and he keeps rolling and rolling and rolling,
18:59and he threw that one to Evans in the corner, and he gets down to the one-yard line.
