A cosy week of Scottish family dinners, from a simple roast chicken tea to fish supper, bangers and mash, chicken arrabbiata, mince round pie, Cumberland pie, and haggis with cheesy mash. Cheryl shares what the family ate each day, with a mix of butcher’s chicken breasts, sausages, leftover chicken, puff pastry pie, and plenty of comfort food for cold November evenings.

There’s a mini roast dinner with roast potatoes, stuffing balls, Brussels sprouts and gravy, a battered haddock and chips treat with friends, creamy mash with baked beans and butcher’s sausages, and a spicy tomato pasta with olives and chicken. Later in the week she makes a mince round pie with mash and swede, then a Cumberland pie that tastes better than it looks, before finishing with fried haggis, tenderstem broccoli and cheesy mashed potato.

If you enjoy UK family dinners, Scottish food, easy home cooking, meal ideas, comfort food recipes and weeknight tea inspiration, this one is full of simple, satisfying plates from Monday through Sunday. It’s a relaxed food diary style video with real homemade meals, butcher’s cuts, a takeaway-style fish supper and a few hearty classics.

00:04well hello there folks and happy sunday to you it's lovely to see you all again as usual and i
00:10hope that i find you very well indeed and isn't it getting cold it's absolutely freezing here
00:15and i think we're well on the way to snow if i've you know in the next couple of weeks
00:20i would not
00:21be surprised if we'd snow you know it's just that cold but anyway thanks for coming over just to
00:26check out what i made for the family meals this week as usual starting off on monday all the way
00:32through till today which is sunday so on monday as you can see we had roast chicken so these were
00:38chicken breasts from the local butcher and i've just roasted them in the oven very simply a wee bit of
00:44oil and salt and pepper and just let them do their own thing for about half an hour and they
00:49are
00:49delicious they are so juicy and full of flavor they are a wee bit dearer because they're from the
00:54butcher but yeah well worth it in my opinion i've got some roast potatoes a wee stuffing ball
01:00in the middle and some balls of doom or brussels sprouts just on the side and then some chicken
01:06gravy as well so a kind of mini roast dinner if you like one of our favorites actually very easy
01:13to make
01:13and as usual delicious and then moving on to tuesday we met up with a group of friends we used
01:19to do this
01:19all the time on a tuesday we used to go and get chips but we haven't been for a wee
01:23while so we
01:24decided to go on tuesday and i get a fish supper or this is battered haddock and chips and i
01:30just could
01:31not finish this i managed all the chips and a bit of the fish but there were actually two slices
01:36of fish
01:37in there so i didn't manage at all but it was lovely what i did have yeah just lovely nice
01:43for a wee treat
01:43as well like i said not one we have all that often and then moving on to wednesday we had
01:50good old
01:50bangers and mash and this is mr what's for tea or one of his favorites he loves sausages from the
01:57butcher
01:57and they do look very pink there but these are beef and pork sausages so they are fully cooked it's
02:02just
02:03that they stay that color so don't be alarmed they are not undercooked so i've got some creamy mashed
02:08potatoes baked beans of course and that's those lovely link sausages from the butcher like i said
02:16they are looking very pink on screen they weren't as pink as that in real life but they are fully
02:21cooked but for some reason the beef sausages or the ones containing beef always stay a kind of pinky
02:27color but yeah really tasty and then moving on to thursday i made chicken arabiata so i was just going
02:34to do a penny arabiata but i had some leftover chicken so i just decided to add that in as
02:40well
02:41and this is one of my favorite things i love a tomato or a spicy tomato based penny pasta so
02:48it's
02:48chili tomato onion garlic i've put green olives in there and obviously the leftover chopped up chicken
02:54as well with the penny pasta and then just a wee bit of salt and cracked black pepper on the
03:01top and i
03:01add extra cayenne pepper to mine just because i do like it extra spicy so yeah really tasty for me
03:08anyway and then moving on to friday you will have seen this wee pie if you watched my food shopping
03:14and
03:14bagging the other day this is the mince round from the local butcher but i do have a video recipe
03:20for
03:21this exact same pie if you fancy making it for yourself and it's just mince and onion and gravy
03:26and the puff pastry and it's really really tasty so yeah really easy to make as well
03:31wee bit of mashed potato on the side and then some diced swede i usually mash my swede but i
03:38decided just
03:39to keep it diced you know just for a wee bit of a texture change because we've got the mashed
03:43potato
03:43as well so yeah that was lovely again very easy to make but really delicious and then moving moving on
03:50to saturday i made cumberland pie now i know what this looks like i know what this looks like so
03:58you
03:58don't need to let me know in the comments what happened was i'd added far too much cheese and my
04:04mashed potato was far too loose and the mashed potato just kind of disappeared into the minced beef so it's
04:10more like minced beef gravy and cheese on the top but let me tell you it was lovely the taste
04:16was
04:16absolutely delicious but it just doesn't look the most appealing but it was really tasty and i've got
04:22a toasted buttered roll on the side and then some baked beans as well which aren't helping anything but
04:28yeah they are really delicious moving on to today and we had haggis again you will have seen the haggis
04:35if you watch my food shopping and bagging the other day this was lovely we haven't had haggis
04:41for a wee while in fact one of you down in the comments keeps banging on about haggis so yeah
04:47haggis today you'll be glad to see and i've got some cheesy mashed potato on the side a couple of
04:53slices of the fried haggis and just some steamed tender stem broccoli on the side i've used white
04:59cheddar and the mashed potato so you can't really see the cheese but that is cheesy mash and it also
05:05made
05:05a wee creamy sauce for the top which was already on the table so that was everything that we
05:11had this week so thank you so much for watching if you're still here and a huge thank you as
