00:10In an Instagram post on Sunday, Nuriana Najwa, popularly known as Yana Najib, said the family
00:17respected the decision of the pardons board, which allows Najib to serve the remainder of
00:22his sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to payment of the 50 million
00:30ringgit fine.
00:31She said Najib had been informed through his lawyers that funds raised for the fine would
00:37be paid through official channels.
00:39According to Nuriana, the family understands that the fine must first be paid to the Kuala
00:46Lumpur High Court Registrar's Office, with the receipt then submitted to the prison's
00:50department before a release order for house arrest can be issued.
00:55She said the family visited Najib on Saturday, adding that he was touched by the public response
01:01to the fundraising effort.
01:04Najib, she said, told her he did not expect so many people to be willing to contribute and
01:09that he would never force it on anyone.
01:13Nuriana also thanked UMNO for leading the fundraising effort, stressing that contributions were voluntary.
01:18The prison's department is expected to issue standard operating procedures for Najib's
01:24house arrest, covering matters including visits, security and the monitoring of his movements.
01:32Attorney General Tanshri Mohamed Dusuki Mokhtar said Najib must first pay the 50 million ringgit
01:38fine before the house arrest process can proceed.
01:42Najib was granted a conditional pardon by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia,
01:48on September 18th, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest
01:53until August 23rd, 2028, subject to payment of the fine.
