00:01The Prisons Department has yet to receive official written notification on the conditional
00:07pardon granted to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. The Federal Territories Pardons
00:14Board made the decision on Friday, allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his SRC international
00:20sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to conditions including payment
00:28of a RM50 million fine. However, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said on Saturday
00:36that the Home Ministry and Prisons Department had yet to receive the official letter setting out the
00:43decision and its conditions. In a statement on Sunday, the Prisons Department said it would
00:49determine the next steps once the official notification was received. It said any decision
00:54or directive would be implemented in accordance with the law and instructions from the relevant
01:00authorities. The Department also urged all parties to rely on official sources and refrain from
01:06speculation over the implementation of the house arrest arrangement. Apart from the SRC international
01:13case, Najib is also serving sentences in other cases, including a 15-year jail term and
01:2011.38 billion ringgit fine imposed in December 2025 over four counts of abuse of power and 21 counts of
01:29money laundering involving 2.28 billion ringgit in 1MDB funds. The case is currently under appeal.
