00:00Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all parties to respect the court's
00:07decision on the addendum order issue and to refrain from inflaming the situation or escalating
00:13tensions.
00:14In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Anwar stressed that the ruling, including available legal
00:19channels for appeals and matters involving the Yang Di Pertuan Agong, must be respected
00:24in accordance with existing laws.
00:26Anwar added that even if there are those who choose not to express sympathy towards Datuk
00:31Sri Najib Razak and his family, it would be inappropriate to aggravate the situation or
00:36heighten tensions given the sensitive circumstances.
00:40The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Madani government remains committed to upholding the
00:45rule of law and the separation of powers, noting that the judiciary must remain independent
00:52from external influence.
00:54On Monday, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Najib's judicial review over the addendum order,
01:01which allegedly allowed the former Prime Minister to serve the remainder of his prison sentence
01:05under house arrest.
01:07High Court Judge Justice Alice Loke Yi Ching ruled that the alleged order was neither deliberated
01:14nor decided during the 61st Pardons Board meeting on January 29, 2024.
01:21Justice Loke further stated that the addendum order did not comply with Article 42 of the Federal
01:26Constitution and was therefore invalid.
01:29Following the decision, Najib is required to serve the remainder of his sentence at Kajang
01:34in prison.
