00:41proposing a commission of inquiry into firearms legislation while it's halted.
00:46It's a move that's being labelled by the government as a desperate attempt to gain traction.
00:51Well we know that One Nation wants weaker gun laws, now the Liberals and Nationals are following them down that

00:57These gun laws were part of what the Parliament agreed should be the response and that was the position of
01:03the opposition.
01:04Last December's terrorist attack led to a raft of firearms reforms which included licensing and ownership rules as well as
01:12limits on the number of guns a person can own.
01:15The Liberals' new approach has been welcomed by some.
01:19They've obviously been listing to us that the current buybacks are unfair and the current conditions on firearms are unworkable
01:27for farmers.
01:28There's been extensive consultation about the implementation of the gun buyback.
01:34Of course we're always open to more feedback.
