00:10Well, so I had a comment on the tailgate situation.
00:13You know, years ago, at the beginning of the season, we knew all the games pretty much were at one.
00:19Everybody, everybody, all your people knew it was at one. We all could park.
00:25We had a special place where we parked and our friends all knew it.
00:29And it was really great.
00:31And now, with, you know, not knowing the game time start till a week before, usually, it makes it really
00:39different.
00:40And people sort of, and you can't park in your usual spot.
00:44You know, they tell you where to park.
00:46Are you talking about the NFL with the Lions?
00:49No, I'm talking about Michigan mainly.
00:52College football.
00:53I don't know that there is a tailgating situation.
00:56Now, you're saying that you don't like that the schedule's being released later for college games.

01:03I just think at the beginning of the season, it would be really great if we knew when the games

01:07I actually don't disagree with that, although I wouldn't let it stop me tailgating if I had a chance.

01:43Speaking of which, the NCAA yesterday, the Football Oversight Committee, said Wednesday
01:49that the proper replay protocols had been, had the proper replay protocols been followed,
01:54the Broncos would have beat Michigan in week one.
01:56The NCAA reaffirmed there has no ability to overturn the result of the game.
02:01The Big Ten added a second to the clock after Michigan's initial Hail Mary attempt had fallen
02:05incomplete.
02:06Instead of relying on the clock embedded on the replay feed of the game, a clock that showed
02:110-0-0 when Western player touched the ball after jumping out of bounds, the Big Ten used
02:15the camera that was trained on the clock in the stadium that showed there was one second
02:19left at the time of contact.
02:22The NCAA announced last week, on September 9th, that they had enacted a standard timing
02:27protocol to ensure consistency in the administration of all college football games.
02:31While the NCAA said that the official time for all games will be the time displayed on
02:36the game clock, when a replay review requires time to be restored or otherwise adjusted,
02:41the replay official decision will be based on the embedded game clock obtained within the
02:45program feed and not the game clock.
02:49Under that protocol, the clock on the screen showing the time had expired would have been
02:54used to determine the week one and week one that the game was over.
02:58So, a couple things here.
03:01Why can't we just use the clock in the stadium?
03:05And I guess the reason is because the Big Ten is the only conference that can accurately
03:10do it.
03:11I reached out to the Big Ten again to get their two cents on this, but this story goes so
03:18far as to say that they are not using the game clock.
03:22The in-stadium game clock is not the clock that'll matter.
03:25I can't wait for this to happen to somebody else at this point.
03:31And I hope it's an SEC school.
03:33This whole thing is utterly ridiculous.
03:36I mean, it seemed like there are protocols to follow before the game and that they weren't
03:41followed and then there's evidence that shows this or evidence that shows that.
03:45It's whatever you want it to be.
03:46I think at this point in time, in the end, they punt on this thing by saying one thing
03:51and then also saying, well, we can't change anything.
03:53We don't have that authority.
03:55I mean, you're the NCAA.
03:56If you don't have the authority, then nobody does.
03:59But whatever.
04:00It's a win for Michigan.
04:01I think most people have accepted it and moved on with it.
04:04The thing that I still hold on to is kind of strange to me is you talk about sinking
04:08clocks and seeing clocks before games and all that.
04:11When the official makes an announcement that says game operated, will you put nine seconds
04:17up on the clock?
04:18Literally nine seconds.
04:20Are we going to have that much of a deterioration between the clocks?
04:23In nine seconds of time.
04:27I mean, this isn't like, it all seems, it's just strange.

04:33I don't even want to like, this is terrible.
04:35Why did the NCAA even come out and say this?
04:38I, it's just, this whole thing is just a giant headache.
04:41Like the bottom line is I would suspect in the next two or three years, every conference
04:47is going to have the Hawkeye system is my prediction.
04:50And my question is, are we going to still rely on the TV feed when they can have the
04:54system that shows that can sync up to the in stadium clock?
04:58I mean, why?
04:59I don't understand why the clock is such a factor in, in pro football and college football
05:04when there are obvious ways to fix things.
05:07Right?
05:07I think you, you, like in the NFL, we get upset about the, uh, the play clock because play
05:15clock expires, hits all zeros and the play is the ball still isn't snapped and it still
05:20isn't snapped.
05:21And then it gets snapped and the fans like, Whoa, that was well after the clock.
05:25And the officials was like, well, we have a little play.
05:27We have a lag time.
05:28What do you mean you have lag time?
05:29Why can't you just have a buzzer that goes off on your hip to let you know, game over
05:33this sport desperately needs the shot clock technology where the clock lights up when
05:39it's zero, zero, zero, and that that's the clock that's, that's, that's when the clock
05:44hits zero, that could be used for game clocks and that could be used for play clocks.
05:48Hey, there's zero seconds.
05:49No, there's 0.3 seconds left.
05:52Okay, fine.
05:53And we can all agree on that.
05:54I'm with you a hundred percent.
05:56The NBA has it right.
05:57The NHL does the same thing.

05:59And they don't have it in football.
06:01And in fact, each conference is responsible for their own replay system.
06:05And that's why there's, they've just decided the NCAA has decided we're going with TV because
06:10that's the only thing that's consistent, even though TV has proven to be off, but whatever.

06:55Um, and then Sean Horkoff with half the responses to the questions, maybe not half, but that's
07:00just how it feels.
07:01It's just basically either referred to the statement that was released last week or would
07:06say that, yeah, that's something we're going to keep private when it came to any question
07:09about Dylan Larkin, which was what everybody wants to ask about.
07:13Um, but there were a couple of things that came out of it and, um, I don't know.
07:18It just seemed kind of, it seemed like it was thrown together rather quickly, but in
07:23the end he got out there and he spoke.
07:25Uh, I think the biggest takeaway is that Dylan Larkin apparently has an upper body injury
07:29and is not participating in skating on the ice right now.
07:34Uh, we don't know when he's going to return to the, uh, to the on ice workouts, but they
07:39seem to think that that's going to happen before training camp is done.
07:42But training camp, I think it's shorter this year than it ever has been.
07:45They only have four exhibition games.
07:48Um, but I was, uh, I, I, I was also happy to hear that, you know, he reiterated that he
07:53does
07:54have the authority to make moves.
07:55So if they were going to trade Dylan Larkin, he's got the authority to do that.
07:59I just, I just don't buy that.
08:00They're ever going to trade them, uh, before the trade deadline, the topic of a rebuild
08:04came up and I thought this was perhaps the most interesting thing that he had to say and
08:09signaled a new era moving forward.
08:12Topic of a rebuild came up and here's what Sean Horkoff said.

08:38If you're going to be a more go for it now team, that's what you would say.
08:42I don't think that that comment necessarily means that they're going to be more aggressive
08:46and go for it and try and make bigger moves with this team.
08:49Um, but that's the kind of thing I think you would say if indeed that was the plan, I'll
08:55believe it when I see it to a degree, but I also, I want to go get Quinn Hughes.
09:02I wanted to do it.
09:03Just pull the trigger on that deal that that apparently was in play a year ago.
09:08And I mean, I guess it was in play with Vancouver, right?
09:10So it wasn't in play with Minnesota.
09:13So Minnesota is probably not going to trade him.
09:15So it's well, they haven't signed him yet either, even though Bill Guerin apparently
09:18is making it a point to try to get with Quinn Hughes, uh, and hopefully hammer out a deal
09:24before the season begins.
09:25But if they don't hammer a deal up before the season begins, because it just can't reach
09:30it, then that would tell me that he's up for grabs that you can go ahead and make an
09:35offer to try to trade for him.
09:37Well, well, what we don't know is what apparently what, whatever Vancouver wanted and it sounded
09:44like it was a makeable trade, like, you know, it would have been Edvinson and something else
09:49from the system, several prospects before top prospect Quinn Hughes.
09:53Actually, the guy I talked to in the league didn't say several top prospects.
09:56He said a prospect that might sting is what I was told.
10:00But, but then again, that guy wasn't affiliated with the Red Wings organizations with another
10:04organization with that said, if we don't know what Minnesota would want and, and so that
10:11may not be the deal that can be made, but, um, we'll see if Horkoff really is a truly
10:19in charge for this year and be does something more aggressive than Stevie ever would.
10:25Well, and that, that, to me, that was one of the disappointing parts of the press conferences.
10:29I wanted to hear what the difference, what was he going to do?
10:33Well, it's his plan of attack.
10:34It's different than the approach they have with Eisenman.
10:36Now, I wouldn't expect him to lay it out detail for detail, but at least give me a philosophical
10:41difference.
10:41Just give me something.
10:43Tell me that you're more analytically driven and this is, you know, the new, uh, the new
10:47path in the NHL and we have to be, you know, at the cutting edge of that.
10:51And we need to, you know, get ourselves way more acquainted with that, a similar to what
10:55the Tigers did.
10:56And the Tigers have taken a pretty good leap over the last couple of years by embracing the
11:01analytics approach, uh, to an extent.
11:04I want, that's what I wanted to hear.
11:06And they wouldn't even concede that everything was, it was just, um, well, I'm not out of
11:09deference to Stevie in the previous three.
11:11I'm not going to get into that, but, uh, we, me and Chris Illich are aligned with the
11:15same philosophy.
11:16What is that philosophy?
