00:00Diwali Nagar 2026 has been officially launched under the theme Viveka, Discerning Truth in the Age of AI.
00:09The theme Vivekanan, Discerning Truth in the Age of AI, speaks directly to the times in which we live.
00:16Viveka calls upon us to cultivate wisdom and the ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, knowledge from misinformation and genuine
00:27human values from harmful or misleading influences.
00:30While artificial intelligence presents opportunities for technological advancement, the NCIC president says the technology must be approached with wisdom and
00:41responsibility.
00:42How can we use modern technology without losing our moral compass, our spiritual grounding and our responsibility to one another?
00:53The answer lies in developing Viveka, the wisdom to think carefully, verify information, make responsible choices and use knowledge for
01:04the advancement of society.
01:06The nine-night celebration will see the return of the youth champ and dance competition among other programs aimed at
01:14engaging younger audiences.
01:16These programs will provide young people with meaningful opportunities to demonstrate their talent, creativity, discipline and confidence and of course
01:26dedication.
01:28But while some activities are returning, fireworks will not be part of this year's Nagar experience.
01:34The decision regarding fireworks is intended to reduce avoidable risk, protect persons and property and promote a more peaceful and
01:45secure experience for everyone attending the Nagar.
01:48The Nagar has grown into a major commercial and culinary attraction with 175 commercial booths, 40 NGO booths and 40
01:58vegetarian food vendors showcasing offerings from across the country.
02:02And with up to 15,000 people expected each night, traffic and crowd management remain major considerations.
02:10You know, we as a TDPS, we have to find ways to manage the crowd as well as manage traffic
02:17situation that we face during the event.
02:20It's a very huge event and, you know, the event, you know, although it attracts a crowd of 15,000,
02:28there are also dignitaries as well, children during the course of the day, students and so on.
02:34And, you know, we have to manage it from the beginning to the end.
02:38But the TDPS has a plan.
02:41We've identified a cadre of police officers, both uniformed and plainclothes, that will be strategically positioned within the Nagar site
02:49along the connecting roads, as well as intersections, roundabouts, like Price Plaza roundabouts, as well as the highways.
02:57Additional resources will be deployed for the opening and closing nights with technology also playing a role in the security
03:05operation.
03:05We also have, you know, also introduced and will be utilizing advanced technology, such as drones from our, our, the
03:18air support units, as well as CCTV cameras, scanning equipment from various sections.
03:24Police say the preparations are designed to ensure the large crowds can enjoy festivities safely.
03:30Senior Superintendent Rudolf Bhagwaneen says he's confident this year's Diwali Nagar will be both safe and successful.
