00:00All right, you know what?
00:01I got to come to Jesus' conversation with myself here.
00:05When am I going to stop betting against Patrick Mahomes?
00:09Just when I thought the Kansas City Chiefs did nothing in the offseason,
00:14Brett Veach, the general manager, didn't bring enough talent in,
00:17there they are, blowing out the Denver Broncos.
00:21And I said this, that the Denver Broncos had the best roster in the AFC,
00:27and they were thoroughly beaten in that game at Arrowhead last night.
00:32Mahomes was sensational, nine months off of a knee injury.
00:37Here he is back being Patrick Mahomes.
00:39I even saw Travis Swift out there making plays.
00:42It was incredible.
00:44You had Kenneth Walker coming in, and I actually thought he was a dude in Seattle,
00:49the MVP of the Super Bowl.
00:51He was electric.
00:52He was great.
00:53Hey, 173 yards rushing on 23 carries.
00:57You talk about somebody that made an immediate impact on that team.
01:02The big thing was whether or not Aidy Reid was going to stick with the run game.
01:07How many times do I do this to myself when I say this?
01:11Hey, that Kansas City Chiefs dynasty is on the other side now.
01:16They're on the back nine.
01:17No way, man.
01:18As long as you have this man here, Patrick Mahomes, you are always going to be in a Super Bowl
01:24window.
01:26I just wanted to play.
01:27Like, I've done so much rehab and so much work to kind of put myself in this position.
01:33I just wanted to get out there and play.
01:34Like, this is what you do it for.
01:36And I was able to play and go out there.
01:38And my guys around me kind of helped me.
01:40So whenever I wasn't, I feel like I didn't play my best football.
01:43We still were able to go out there and beat a really good football team pretty well.
01:47And it's because the guys around me stepped up and knew that they're going to have to help me as
01:51I kind of get back into the rhythm of things.
01:54You know, I really have to say that to modern technology and getting these players back on the field, like
01:58we saw with George Kittle a couple weeks ago.
02:01And all of a sudden you're seeing Patrick Mahomes back on the field.
02:04He was just electric last night.
02:06I'll say this to you one more time about Patrick Mahomes.
02:09Jimmy Johnson told me this a couple years ago.
02:11He's the most untradeable player in the National Football League.
02:14You couldn't get proper return on your trade for that player.
02:20Five first rounders.
02:21He just keeps you in the window and he is a generational player.
02:25And when you add a running back like Kenneth Walker to the mix and you give them third and short,
02:32man, Kenny Walker was absolutely spectacular last night.
02:36It means a lot.
02:37You know, it means they trust me.
02:38You know, it's good to feel that way.
02:40And, you know, when we first came out, we got the fourth down and, you know, we still ran the
02:43ball.
02:44So, you know, they trust the run game.
02:45They trust what we can do.
02:46And, you know, we just want to keep stacking on that.
02:48Yeah, definitely.
02:49Even when I first came in here, OTAs, training camp, everything, me and Pat and Trav and all those guys,
02:54Nick, like the leaders on the team, the way they carry themselves on and off the field.
02:58That was surprising to see because these guys are successful on the field.
03:01But the way they carry themselves off the field is more impressive.
03:04So, it definitely was, but they accepted me with open arms and, you know, I appreciate them for that.
03:09Did you hear Kenny Walker, the way he's talking about culture, comes from a great culture place in Seattle.
03:15They have a great culture up there.
03:16The guy just fit in like a spark plug and he was electric last night.
03:217.5 yards, a carry.
03:24Put this in context.
03:26And you have Patrick Mahomes.
03:28And you're starting to see some of those wide receivers come around again.
03:32Boy, just when we threw dirt on the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty, here they are again.
03:37I know it's one game.
03:39And on top of that, it's September.
03:41So, it's traditionally Liars Month.
03:43But you can't get out to a better start in Kansas City.
03:46The way they looked last night against that Broncos team.
03:49Speaking of the Broncos, man, I got to tell you, I gave this team a lot of love heading into
03:55the regular season.
03:56And I said it, like I said a couple minutes ago, I think they got the best roster in the
04:00AFC.
04:01If you're Sean Payton, you're exceptionally disappointed in what your team looked like last night.
04:08Real quickly, obviously, not a good evening.
04:13Didn't do a lot well at all in the game.
04:15And, you know, so we'll have a look at the tape tomorrow.
04:18But I felt like, yeah, I mean, all the key factors, they rushed the ball well.
04:23We didn't.
04:26You know, it starts with me.
04:29It starts with our coaching staff.
04:32I thought they won really in every phase.
04:34Look, it was just as a head coach always.
04:37Whether you're calling the plays or you're not, you know, it's regardless of who's calling the plays.
04:41When you have a game like that and you're the head coach, you know, it's frustrating.
04:46It's disappointing.
04:49And I don't know that the feeling is any different whether you're calling them or not, honestly.
04:54You know, my producer in my ear just said, why is Sean Payton getting ready to cry?
04:59Because I think he's disappointed Davis Webb called that game last night.
05:03And how long is it going to be before Sean Payton takes control back of play calling?
05:09Remember, that's one thing that is a forte of.
05:12And I'll say this.
05:13If you're the ownership group of the Denver Broncos and Sean Payton's not my play caller and a guy named
05:19Davis Webb is, I got a problem with that.
05:21And even though that all being said, Bo Nix tried to put it in context and say it was a
05:26pretty well-called game last night.
05:28They just didn't execute.
05:29I think the players did not make it easy on him today.
05:33Pretty pitiful, actually.
05:34But he was, you know, to me in the headset, he treated it like, you know, he was a pro
05:42with it.
05:43He was like, hey, next play.
05:44Here we go.
05:44You got this.
05:46He shot it with conviction.
05:47I thought he really, I mean, we called exactly what we prepared for and what we wanted to get to.
05:53And we just didn't execute.
05:55And then we were behind.
05:57And just literally, I don't think we did a whole lot of good consistently enough to win the game at
06:04all.
