00:05and how much easier this offense can function when that group sets the terms.
00:10In Week 1, the Jets' running game, it looked pretty damn good.
00:13Brees Hall ran for 102 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
00:17Braylon Allen added 40 yards on 10 attempts.
00:20We also have to give some love to the protection as well.
00:23And look, you know Geno Smith appreciated the time that he had to throw the ball in Week 1.
00:29The Jets' QB finished 19-24 for 215 yards, no sacks, just one quarterback hit allowed in this contest.
00:37Now, those numbers, especially the zero sacks, they aren't exclusively an offensive line stat.
00:42The quarterback's decisions, the play calls, and the other blockers, they all contribute to this.
00:47But that's an excellent collective result.
00:49And for me, personally, that's where this performance exceeded expectations.
00:54Now, let's keep the September enthusiasm in check.
00:57We got to pump the brakes, people.
00:59We don't have enough evidence here to call this an elite offensive line at this point.
01:03Don't do that.
01:04We've got one performance against one opponent.
01:07Not that good.
01:07And the question is, what happens when the Jets fall behind in games?
01:11When the defense knows that they have to throw?
01:13When an opponent changes its pressure, looks, and tests their communication?
01:17Those answers still have to come for this Jets team.
01:21The biggest reason to feel the courage about this Jets offense might be the five guys up front.
01:26And on Sunday, they gave the Jets something worth building on.
