00:00Week one is upon us for the New York Jets.
00:03Betters are getting ready to make their bets, hopefully happy ones, around the New York Jets.
00:07We know sometimes things are not happy around the New York Jets.
00:10I don't have to ask anybody more about this than the man right here to my left.
00:14That is Curran Bhatia.
00:15He is the host of Ask the Experts with Curran Bhatia.
00:18And he joins me now to talk about some betting around the Jets.
00:21How are you doing, man?
00:22You look good in the green and white.
00:23I hope you feel good in the green and white later this season.
00:26I mean, I feel amazing.
00:27Of course I had to represent my team in the Jets.
00:30I am a suffering Jets fan like so many of us are.
00:32You kind of have to be suffering if you're going to stick with this team.
00:36But we know, look, the Jets, we know what they've done recently, right?
00:40And we don't have to get too much into it, maybe a little bit.
00:43But we don't have that going for us.
00:45Summer's over.
00:46We don't have that going for us.
00:47NFL is back.
00:49Football is here.
00:50And we're all excited.
00:52We're all excited.
00:52Let's talk about the Jets and some bets, which maybe is a thing you don't want to do.
00:57Well, you could bet against them, too.
00:59You could do that.
01:00Maybe you don't want to bet against your own team.
01:01But here we go.
01:02When you look at the Jets, Curran.
01:03Yes, sir.
01:05The over-under for wins, 5.5 is where the line is right now.
01:10Yep.
01:11What's the first thing that jumps out to you about the sportsbooks?
01:15Do you look at them as possibly being too pessimistic here with this line for the Jets?
01:19Or is 5.5 exactly where they belong?
01:21Yeah.
01:22You know what?
01:22But there is no such thing as too pessimistic for the Jets.
01:26And I say this again as a Jets fan.
01:28You're only realistic when it comes to the Jets.
01:30And so 5.5 is legit.
01:32That's where they belong.
01:33You know, remember last year, Dex, they were historically terrible, right?
01:373-14.
01:38It's been 15 years since they've had a playoff game.
01:4129th in points last year.
01:43Dead last in passing.
01:44So, you know, by all metrics, not a good year for our Jets, for my New York Jets.
01:50But they also, you know, there's also moments where the ball could bounce a certain way, right?
01:54So they were historically bad.
01:55They were also historically unlucky.
01:58And what I mean by that is they only recovered 35% of fumbles.
02:02That's not good.
02:03Zero interceptions.
02:04Zero interceptions.
02:06Right?
02:06So you would think even, you know, by mistake, you might catch one.
02:09That didn't happen.
02:09So I'm going to say, you know, bad team, bad defense, bad luck as well in terms of the ball.
02:14Also didn't bounce their way.
02:15Not that it would have helped much in the long run.
02:18But that was the situation.
02:19So if you're going to look at it the pessimistic way, nowhere to go but up, right?
02:23You're already at the ceiling.
02:25You're at the bottom.
02:26Now you're going up.
02:27Maybe.
02:27That's why I'm going to say maybe it's a win-win.
02:29Whatever happens this season, maybe they do well.
02:31If they don't, okay?
02:33Let's say you want to take Jets' worst record at plus 850.
02:37I wouldn't be mad at you for that.
02:38Well, guess what?
02:39They have three 2027 first-rounders.
02:41And we know Arch Manning is a favorite to be the first pick.
02:45So maybe there's something that you're looking ahead here.
02:48No, no, no.
02:48I'm saying—
02:49You're trying to sell the Jets' fan hope.
02:50I see it.
02:51I'm saying—I am trying to sell them hope on both possible scenarios.
02:54A decent season, fine.
02:56You know, improvement.
02:57Or a terrible season, let's look ahead to Arch Manning in the next year.
03:02So I'm trying to make it, yeah, a little optimistic, no?
03:04Fair.
03:05But let me ask you this.
03:06What is the biggest assumption that somebody who's looking to bet on the Jets has to make
03:12if they want that over 5.5 to cash?
03:16There's a bunch of facts.
03:17Is it Geno Smith playing well?
03:19Is it Aaron Glenn just being better as a head coach in year two?
03:22Is it the defense improvement and actually getting some takeaways?
03:24What's the biggest assumption you have to make if that over 5.5 is going to cash?
03:28The biggest assumption if you're going to take Jets over 5.5 is Geno Smith.
03:32And that is which Geno Smith we're going to get.
03:35Remember, Geno had a 90-plus passer rating and a winning record in the last three of four seasons.
03:40So obviously you can't look at the most recent.
03:42But when you look before that, you're like, okay, that was a good Geno Smith.
03:45So that's the player that you want.
03:47So the question is going to be which Geno Smith are we going to get this year with the Jets?
03:50That's going to be a big part of it.
03:52And then the defense, right?
03:53How are they going to bounce back?
03:54They added some real help in Bailey, in Sadiq, and some other big moves, Cooper.
03:59So we're going to see what happens there.
04:01Aaron Glenn, it's his second year.
04:02He can't throw the football.
04:04We know that.
04:05We know that he's still a little bit inexperienced, you could say.
04:08We'll see what happens.
04:09But in terms of his press conferences, his interviews going into this season, he seems poised.
04:14He seems motivated.
04:14And people listen to him and say, okay, you know what?
04:16I buy this.
04:17I buy this.
04:17Let's give it a shot.
04:18So we'll see what happens there.
04:19But the biggest what if, in terms of that over-under number, is Geno Smith.
04:23I think that's more than fair.
04:24There's a lot of question marks around Geno Smith.
04:26I don't think it necessarily has to be a redemption story for him.
04:29But he just has to be the competent quarterback that the Jets need here.
04:33All right.
04:34So here we go.
04:34Cash it or pass it?
04:36Are you cashing or are you passing on the over five and a half?
04:40Are you cashing or passing on the Jets getting six or more wins this season?
04:43I'm going to cash it on the Jets getting six or more.
04:47Because six or more, not necessarily asking for them to be good.
04:50I'm just asking for them to be average.
04:52I can bet on my Jets being average.
04:54And look, they're week one in Tennessee.
04:56Maybe that's a win there.
04:58They got Miami twice.
04:59Who's got Miami's got a hard schedule.
05:01The Jets have the sixth easiest schedule in all of football.
05:04And so I am going to bet on that six wins.
05:07I'm not going to say they're going to get many more.
05:09But, you know, even pessimists are going to say that the Jets are going to at least be better than
05:13last year.
05:14You say Geno Smith is hopefully an upgrade at the quarterback position.
05:18Aaron Glenn now has experience one year as a coach.
05:20They did make some moves.
05:22And, of course, look, this team is looking ahead.
05:24They got draft picks coming in next year.
05:26There's a lot of things to look forward to in that way.
05:28But I'm going to cash that in Jets over five and a half.
05:31All right.
05:31So there you go.
05:32More hope being sold to the Jets fans.
05:34You got my man Curran cashing the Jets over five and a half.
05:37The Jets, the odds they make the playoffs.
05:39Yes.
05:39Nearly 7-1 odds here.
05:44Are you throwing – is that legitimate value or are people just throwing their money away if you make that
05:48bet?
05:49Okay.
05:49I love the New York Jets.
05:51I'm a lifelong Jets fan.
05:52I also love – you know what else I love, Dexter?
05:54I also love money.
05:55I don't want to set it on fire.
05:56So I'm not going to be betting on the Jets to make the playoff.
06:00I'm going to pass on that bet.
06:02Even though – and I have to talk to you about this.
06:04We know it's a special time in New York.
06:06Things that didn't happen for a long time can happen.
06:09We know the Knicks broke a 53-year drought, and that's my New York Knicks as well.
06:13But that was a different situation where you could feel that coming for the last few years.
06:17It's a different situation here with the Jets.
06:19So I am not going to take that with the Jets.
06:22So I'm going to unfortunately say, yes, some improvement from last year, but not making the playoffs, of course.
06:28So everybody expects Buffalo to win the AFC East, but you know what we had to do.
06:33We've got to look at what the Jets' odds are to win the AFC East.
06:36It's 19 to 1, people, 19 to 1.
06:40Is there any case at all, any sane case, for somebody to sprinkle a couple of dollars down on the
06:47Jets to win the AFC East?
06:48Yeah, bro, I'm a Jets fan.
06:49No, no, there's no case.
06:51You will not lead the people astray.
06:52I will not.
06:53I will not.
06:54Like I said, pessimistic, realistic, all that good stuff.
06:57In this place, you know, I'm just going to say no.
07:00We'll save everyone some time.
07:01We'll move on to the next question.
07:03You know what?
07:03That's fair.
07:04Sometimes you don't have to get that deep with stuff.
07:06You just know exactly what it was.
07:08Exactly.
07:08So for me, Curran, this is where things can get a little interesting.
07:13I believe you can believe, one can believe that the Jets will still improve.
07:17Yes.
07:18And also you can still believe that they're going to finish last.
07:20Two things can be true, people.
07:22They can improve, but they can still finish last.
07:24The Jets to finish fourth in the East.
07:26You can find around plus 170.
07:29I've seen as high as plus 190.
07:30You can see that as well, too.
07:32Is fourth place, a fourth place pinnage for the Jets, is that actually a better Jets bet
07:39than under five and a half wins?
07:42Yes, but I think overall for Jets fans, unfortunately, that brings in the nightmare scenario.
07:48The nightmare scenario, I'd mentioned two optimistic versions, right?
07:52Really bad first pick, you know, good and you're optimistic.
07:55The really bad is finishing in fourth place again, and that's where the Jets have lived.
08:002017 to 2022 in terms of their picks, sixth, third, third, eleventh, second, fourth.
08:06Not a number one pick, right?
08:07Because they weren't the worst team.
08:08So I think that puts them in that tough spot where they've been, you know, the last few years.
08:13Six wins, fourth place.
08:15No Arch Manning, no rebuild.
08:18And then you do it all again next year.
08:19And of course, people like me as a Jets fan are going to watch, right?
08:22We keep watching.
08:23You know, sports is about pain, as we know.
08:25So I think, yes, that opens up that little bit of that nightmare scenario that we've seen
08:30too many times with the Jets.
08:31I'm not rooting for it, but I do think that's the likely outcome here.
08:35All right.
08:35I think it's the likely outcome.
08:36So it could be good value there to take that instead of them under five and a half wins here.
08:41I want to talk about some player props with you.
08:43Oppressive rookie right now, turning a lot of heads, turned it during training camp throughout
08:47the preseason, David Bailey.
08:48Yep.
08:49You're seeing numbers for him at plus 550 for defensive rookie of the year.
08:54For you, is that a cash it?
08:56Is that a pass it?
08:57Or maybe sprinkle a little bit.
08:59I'm going to take option C, sprinkle on that.
09:02And that is defensive rookie of the year for Bailey.
09:05Now, look, look, a bad offense, which could be the case here, could lead to maybe more
09:09the defense on the field more, right?
09:11Maybe there's maybe there's something there.
09:13We know the favorite is Reuben Bain.
09:15He's at plus 500.
09:16So, look, with all that said, it's still decent odds at plus 550.
09:20So that's why I'm not going to cash or pass.
09:22I'm just going to sprinkle, put a little bit on it, plus 550.
09:24You got a little bit of a rooting interest there.
09:26So I'm going to take that.
09:27I'm going to sprinkle it.
09:28All right.
09:29Let's also talk about Brie Saul.
09:30OK.
09:31It's coming off his first 1,000-yard rushing season.
09:34When you look at his season-long rushing yard line and the touchdown marks that we've seen
09:38for him, both of those things, are you buying another big year for Brie Saul?
09:43Or do you think his lines may be a little bit inflated because of what he did in 2025?
09:49Yeah.
09:50You know what?
09:50I'm going to buy the yards, but I'm going to say let's be careful on touchdowns.
09:54OK.
09:55So he cracked 1,000 yards with eight men in the box and no passing game, right?
09:59So it's definitely possible.
10:01The good with it, third-ranked scoring offense in the 2017 Super Bowl year.
10:05But that's for Mack Reich, right, who's coming in now.
10:07The bad for him was 1-10 in Carolina.
10:10So you have to look at it two ways in terms of the play caller there and how many touches
10:13Brie's is going to get, how many opportunities.
10:15So the other flags for Brie's, groin strain in camp.
10:19That's never good.
10:21That might mean running back by a committee.
10:23We don't know.
10:23Either way, I think the yards, yes.
10:26Touchdowns, I need to see you with red zone opportunities first and opportunities to score.
10:31So I'm going to say yes to the yards.
10:33All right.
10:33So I like that.
10:33Staying away from the touchdowns.
10:34Yep.
10:35Not kind of sure how this Jets offense could look.
10:37Could be very interesting.
10:38So speaking of the Jets offense, let me ask you about two players here.
10:40Sure.
10:41Between Geno Smith and Garrett Wilson, which of those offensive players do you think gives you
10:47the better season-long betting opportunity with the Jets?
10:50Those are going to be names that fans are going to definitely look at of those two.
10:53But which of those two do you like that gives you the better opportunity to bet on them for
10:56a future in this situation?
10:57Geno Smith versus Garrett Wilson.
10:59I'm taking Garrett Wilson all day.
11:00And that is three straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career.
11:04So first player in Jets history to do that.
11:07And so I'm going to be taking him on that.
11:09He only played seven games last year, and he still led the team in receiving.
11:13And so that's my pick there.
11:16I'm going to bet on the guy who catches it, not the guy who throws it.
11:19In terms of, you know, over 88.5 catches, that's possible.
11:231,200 yards maybe if you want to sprinkle it in terms of the career out there.
11:27That's also possible.
11:28But again, I'm going to take Garrett Wilson.
11:30We don't know what we're going to get with Geno Smith, right?
11:33That is the big question mark.
11:35Probably an upgrade from the quarterback position last year for the Jets.
11:38But in terms of which Geno Smith we get, we don't know.
11:41We also know Father Time is undefeated.
11:42So you can't always bet on a 36-year-old quarterback.
11:44That is fair.
11:46Don't want to do that.
11:46Let's look at a couple of long shots before we get up out of here.
11:49I guess what I want to ask you is, what's your one future bet with the Jets?
11:53You see a plus money, add plus money so something where people can get some good value
11:57that you think maybe sportsbooks are underestimating the probability of it happening.
12:03What's that one for you?
12:03Yeah.
12:04So I think you can still root for your team, the New York Jets.
12:07Make some money on it too.
12:08So the Jets, worst record, plus 850.
12:11And remember, this is the Arch Manning ticket, right?
12:13That's a rough bet, man.
12:14That's a rough bet.
12:15But see, that way you kind of protect yourself in all scenarios.
12:18So I think that's something.
12:19Now, I'm going to give you one more.
12:21This one's a flyer.
12:22It's a gamble.
12:23This is if you want to go sicko mode, okay?
12:25A little bit here.
12:27Cade Klubnik, Offensive Rookie of the Year.
12:31That's at plus 8,000.
12:33Wow.
12:34Okay.
12:34You got to think a little bit outside of the box.
12:36What does that mean?
12:37This is a flyer.
12:38This cashes if Geno is hurt or benched.
12:42Those are realistic possibilities.
12:44Bring in Cade Klubnik.
12:45He has a good year.
12:47Offensive Rookie of the Year, plus 8,000.
12:49I think it's worth a little sprinkle.
12:51Throw something on it.
12:51Have some fun.
12:52If that happens, you have a fun rooting interest there.
12:55So that's the sicko mode bet.
12:57It is a sicko mode.
12:58I see you also selling the Jets fans on some hope again.
13:00Yes.
13:00Hope.
13:01Dude, that's the motto, man.
13:02If you don't have hope, what do you have, right?
13:04Nothing wrong with being a hope dealer.
13:05Nothing wrong with that at all.
13:06All right, a couple things.
13:07Let's look at week one, folks.
13:09The Jets versus Titans in week one.
13:11When you look at the game, before we even pick it, just looking at the market, we saw
13:14the Titans open as three-point favorites, roughly about there.
13:18Some places three and a half.
13:19Now it's down to around one and a half with them.
13:22What does that tell you about the market?
13:24Why the movement?
13:25Yeah, look.
13:25Look, I think it's a fascinating week one.
13:27We know Robert Sala, right?
13:28That coach of the Jets.
13:29Now it's, I see.
13:30Dable is also there.
13:31So I think there's going to be a revenge motto there in Nashville, and that could maybe
13:35explain the line movement.
13:37Yes, great story.
13:38All of that.
13:39There is one thing here.
13:40The Jets have not won an opening game on a Sunday in 15 years.
13:44And so they feel like they're due.
13:45Since 2015, 11 years, excuse me.
13:47And so, you know, look, I feel like they're motivated.
13:50They're ready for this opportunity, even though on the other end, there's that revenge
13:53motto.
13:53So I think that could explain that.
13:55But at the end of the day, I'm going to take the New York Jets to win on week one
13:59against
13:59the Titans.
14:00Okay, so if you're taking the Jets to win on week one against the Titans, do you bother
14:04taking the plus one and a half, or should you just go money line?
14:06I'm just going to go straight money line, right?
14:08At that number, the plus one and a half, it just makes more sense to get the plus money
14:12with the plus 105.
14:13And so I think that's my bet there.
14:15I'm not going to take the points.
14:16I'm going to just take the straight money line, do it that way.
14:20And look, if you like them to win, you think the better QB, that's your bet right there,
14:24money line.
14:25All right, there you go.
14:25All right, last thing before we get up out of here, we got to have you put your name
14:28on three Jets bets.
14:29So give me your best team future, best player future, best week one bet.
14:32All right, let's do it real quick.
14:34Jets team future, Jets over five and a half wins.
14:38I'm going to take that.
14:39Best player future, Garrett Wilson over on receiving yards.
14:43But remember that sicko mode bet.
14:45I'm going to take Cade Klubnick, Offensive Rookie of the Year, plus 8,000.
14:50Look, have some fun, right?
14:52We got to have hope.
14:52That's all we have.
14:53And then week one, we talked about it.
14:55Jets money line, plus 105 at Tennessee.
14:57Simple.
14:57That's the motto, hope, right?
14:59We had it with the Knicks, 53 years.
15:01We got it done.
15:02Jets, eventually, one day.
15:04Kerr and Batia.
15:06Hosts have asked the experts with Kerr and Batia.
15:07Also, a hope dealer out here for Jets fans.
15:10That's what he's selling you.
15:11Look at that Klubnick pick.
15:13Plus 8,000 for Offensive Rookie of the Year in the AFC.
15:16Value and hope.
15:17A lot of good value there.
15:18Let us know what you think are some of the best bets.
15:20What are the bets you're going to be making on the New York Jets this year?
15:23He's Kerr and Batia.
15:23I'm Dexter Henry.
15:24We'll catch you next time.
15:25We'll catch you next time.
