00:00Warren, I want to ask you about Colorado.
00:03Did you enjoy your time at Colorado there with Deion Sanders?
00:07And did you love coaching those young kids?
00:11Loved it. Loved it.
00:12You know, because for so long, I said there was one thing I didn't want to do
00:16because they spent more time over there than we did as players.
00:19College is a whole different animal.
00:21Those kids are in and out.
00:23They're on a 20-hour work week.
00:25You got to put the plan together and figure out a way for them to now
00:28go in there and watch the tape and pull it out
00:30and then get them back over there and take it from the, you know,
00:33the black boy to the practice field to the game field.
00:37And, man, it was nothing like it to be able to teach it, Dan,
00:40over and over and over and teach the same thing
00:42because there's five principles to being a defensive lineman
00:45or a defensive end.
00:46The same thing because a one or three or five or nine is all the same thing.
00:49You're just on a different point down the line.
00:53Stance, alignment, assignment, and do right.
00:56That's it.
00:57Like, know your job and then go out there and do it.
01:00And we had fun.
01:02We had a lot of fun.
01:04We had a lot of fun.
01:05And then, you know, a couple things happened here and there
01:07and some of the guys didn't agree with, you know,
01:09how we were going to do about it.
01:10And we ended up with 222 yards a game,
01:13and a half a game being rushed on us a three and nine season.
01:16And I'm back home fishing, hunting, and having a good time.
01:19I'll see you at the tailgate.
01:22Absolutely.
01:23Warren, I got to tell you too, man,
01:24I think maybe some of this goes back to your cane roots because, you know,
01:28back in the day there was a film that used to go around.
01:31And they put this film with Jerome and I around,
01:34and all you guys would come behind us,
01:36and you guys were watching these films, how to play the technique.
01:39And you and Cortez and all the guys went on to great heights
01:43and Hall of Fame status.
01:45It was us passing down our knowledge of the game to the next guys.
01:50And you did it.
01:52All the guys after you proceeded to do that.
01:55Is that something that's now you think getting back to Miami where,
01:59like, how we used to pass the baton?
02:01And do you see Mario bringing that back to the Canes program?
02:05Absolutely.
02:06Because when you've got the inmates running the asylum,
02:08it goes back to those traditions.
02:10It goes back to the thing that made Green Tree what it was.
02:12We built champions on Green Tree practice field.
02:15We built men on Green Tree practice field.
02:17No doubt about it.
02:18No question.
02:20And when him and D. Lou, and I love Jason Taylor down there,
02:24and some of the other coaches down there,
02:25they really invested in the young men.
02:28And when you invest in the young men, you get good results.
