00:04It was Deion Sanders and him cutting some of the Colorado players because I
00:11really wanted your thoughts on this and we'll get Beeb's thoughts on this too
00:16if he wants to chime in, but it's, it's such a crazy kind of thing.
00:22So let me, let me set everything for everybody.
00:24So Colorado lost 41 to seven at Northwestern on Saturday.
00:28Uh, and then Deion Sanders said Tuesday that several players were no longer with
00:32the program.
00:33So he didn't really identify the dismissed players.
00:36And he said the decision was a pattern of behavior.
00:40So, uh, he criticized his players laughing after a loss, um, and defensive back Ben
00:48Finneseth, uh, he separately apologized for disparaging Northwestern stadium.
00:54Uh, so he didn't connect that to anything, but Colorado opens big 12 play at Baylor on
00:59Saturday.
01:00This is kind of a wild thing that I feel like is not really being talked about, but
01:05do you, do you think this is wild or is this just something that happens all the
01:08time?
01:09No, this doesn't happen all the time.
01:11Okay.
01:11You, you, you, you dismiss kids for having, you know, rape allegations on campus or drunk
01:17driving, things of that nature assaults, running a kid out of your program because they were,
01:23you know, laughing after you lost 41 to seven.
01:26This is a part about, and again, I've been in Deion's corner, you know, I got a Colorado
01:31sweater somewhere around here.
01:34This is, this seems like he's losing whatever magic he had when he initially got there.
01:40Cause he talks about being a father figure to these kids and, and helping these young
01:46men grow.
01:47Cause that's, what's more important to him.
01:50Yes.
01:50You're going to put some guys in the NFL.
01:52Yeah.
01:52And we're going to look good doing it.
01:53But at the same time, his mission, as he says, is to help these young boys become men
02:01by lessons they learned through football.
02:03What lesson are you teaching them by booting them for laughing?
02:08See where I'm from, you punish them.
02:11You watch them learn through the process and that's how they become better people on your
02:16watch.
02:17Him dismissing them simply tells me two things.
02:20One, he is doing this because these kids don't matter in a program in a grand scheme
02:27of things.
02:27That's one.
02:28One, and two, he doesn't have time to, to individually really teach guys and talk to
02:34guys and get to know guys.
02:36Cause he wouldn't have dismissed somebody who he had a close relationship with that.
02:40He doesn't strike me as that kind of person.
02:42I watch all the stuff that they do on socials.
02:44I watched some of the programs that he did, that he's had throughout time and watching how
02:49he treats his kids and things of that nature.
02:50And all these, all these players are supposed to be like his sons.
02:54Yeah.
02:55You going to dismiss one of your sons like this for laughing?
02:58I don't think so.
02:59And so this is a teaching moment.
03:01And I think in this particular time at this particular place, he failed the teaching moment.
03:08And as a coach of his magnitude is he can't fail teaching moments.
03:13Cause that's why he's in the position at the level he's at is to teach kids.
03:18Cause he has their ear cause he's Deion Sanders.
03:20And so I, this is, this is a bad look.
03:23It's a really bad look in my opinion.
03:25Uh, you just, you got to teach kids, man.
03:28Dismissing them for laughing after a game.
03:31How do you, how do you feel like his Colorado 10 years trending?
03:35Cause I feel like it's not trending in the right way.
03:38I was so hyped for Deion the first couple of years.
03:41I really was.
03:42I was watching every Colorado game.
03:43I was in his corner.
03:45I loved that first year.
03:46It was awesome.
03:47But it feels like John, like we've kind of heading towards a, a dismissal here or him
03:53leaving or him going to another school, something like that.
03:57Now let's not get crazy.
03:58Colorado ain't dismissing them.
04:00That's it.
04:00This is the greatest.
04:01This is the greatest football run.
04:04Colorado as a program has ever had.
04:06This is the most attention they've ever had.
04:07So they're in it for the long haul.
04:09This is going to be a, Hey, Deion, we're Florida state.
04:13Pick up the phone type situation.
04:15This ain't, this is going to be a, a, a power conference with a lot of money and a lot
04:21of
04:21boosters coming to him and saying, Hey, come do that.
04:25What you're doing here with more money and better players.
04:28Cause if you're going to, he's not going to move laterally because he can get whatever
04:31he wants in Colorado, he is Colorado and, and he knows that they know that.
04:38And because of that, I think he is going to stay there as long as he wants to, because
04:44the prospect of making a, a, a move laterally doesn't interest him.
04:50It's up or nothing.
04:51Cause he comfortable where he at.
04:53He got new toes as me and B were talking about any man get new toes.
04:57He comfortable where he at.
04:58And so I don't see them firing him, nor do I see him moving on unless a school like
05:03Florida state calls or one of these big 10 school call with a ton of money in their pocket
05:07who rose to add some flash to the dollar.
05:11Yeah.
05:11I think I don't really even think that a lot of this is his fault.
05:16Now he does do the recruiting and all that stuff, but like what play, if he were to go
05:19to like a really prominent conference and it's not, I guess it is kind of a knock on the
05:24big toll, but if he were to go to a bigger school that has a bigger pool to select
05:27from, I think players would line up still to play for Sanders.
05:32Absolutely.
05:32Like, I don't think it's that.
05:34I don't even think it's all the antics as people like to say.
05:37I love a guy that is outgoing.
05:41And the kids love the antics too.
05:42And the kids love it.
05:43So I don't know.
05:44We'll see what happens.
