00:33Thanks for being here.
00:34Thanks for having me, it's great.
00:36So let's start talking about the immediate impact of the energy crisis, field prices.
00:42In Italy, Meloni government is taking measures to contain realizing costs, but gasoline prices have also increased in the United
00:51States.
00:51So how much worse could the situation if this war will continue?
00:56Well, the good news is there's far more oil and crude coming out of the Strait of Hormuz now.
01:02You've got a lot of barrels now making its way on the waterway and we're diversifying how the oil is
01:08getting out of the region.
01:10So using more pipelines, using more alternative infrastructure, but at the same time the U.S. military is helping getting
01:17a lot of the ships out of the Strait of Hormuz.
01:19Longer term, what we want to do is build more infrastructure that de-emphasizes the Strait of Hormuz, so more
01:26pipelines in various ways out of the region up into the Mediterranean.
01:31The big issue we're facing now is we are getting crude out, so there's barrels to be refined, but there's
01:37limited refining capacity.
01:39So there's a lot of refining that's come offline, either in Russia and then in the U.S., we're at
01:47100 percent capacity.
01:49So we need to expand refining capacity.
01:51The president just brought all the major refiners to the White House to talk to them about this.
01:56The more we can expand refining capacity, the more you're going to see steady prices and then start to go
02:03down even more.
02:03But more crude is now getting on the market, which will also help that price come down.
02:08But is the United States considering measures to bring gasoline prices down?
02:16Well, that's what we're going to do.
02:17We're going to invest more.
02:19So the more we can get crude on the market, so now we've just done these major deals with Venezuela.
02:25Venezuela is now going to be bringing more oil crude on the market, and that opens up more refining opportunities.
02:32You look at all the way from Alaska down to Argentina.
02:36The Western Hemisphere can bring way more oil onto the market, and that's what we're rapidly doing.
02:42These are the big deals we've just announced.
02:44More oil in Alaska can help over in the Asian markets.
02:47More oil out of Venezuela and the Gulf of America can help the European markets.
02:52And then getting more refining capacity up online is going to help everybody.
02:55Trump has made energy dominance and low-cost energy two pillars of his economic policy.
03:02But if Americans are also paying a high cost at the pump, isn't there a contradiction between that promise and
03:12what consumers are experiencing today?
03:15Well, the president brought oil prices dramatically down in his first year in office.
03:20He's going to be able to do that again.
03:21And now that more crude is flowing out of the Strader-Hammuz, that ultimately is going to be good on
03:28the long term for oil prices.
03:30Again, like I mentioned, the more we can get the refining up in line and electricity prices are also coming
03:36down.
03:37And so all of that is going to help in the long term.
03:39But what we need to do is energy addition.
03:42Now, that's one of my big messages here.
03:44We need more energy across the board.
03:46We need more electricity.
03:47We need more oil and gas.
03:49We need more nuclear.
03:50The more we can bring all that online, the more that price has gone down.
03:53The president's already proved last year he could do it.
03:56The main goal was to get nuclear weapons out of or nuclear capabilities out of Iran.
04:02Now that the president has focused on that, then we can start getting the crude out, open up more infrastructure
04:09in the Middle East.
04:10And all that is going to help everyone in the long term.
04:13And will this situation complicate the decision of the Federal Reserve?
04:18No.
04:18So actually, what we've announced is a lot of the oil that's coming out of Venezuela, the president wants to
04:24put that into our reserve in the U.S.
04:27So we have ample supply that's now going to come in thanks to this major deal we did in Venezuela.
04:35And you've got a lot of companies now investing in Venezuela that is going to open up.
04:38We just, E&I, the Italian company, just announced a huge deal out of Venezuela.
04:43We have Chevron, another big American company, big deal out of Venezuela.
04:47So opening up that resource is going to help the markets overall.
04:50Just the last question.
04:51So what's the role of the Mediterranean and Italy in this context?
04:56Well, Italy can play a huge role because LNG is the energy now that is helping supply a lot of
05:05power throughout Europe.
05:06Italy has a great relationship with the U.S. to purchase U.S. LNG.
05:12Italy is a main import terminal so that we can get LNG into Europe and then through Italian systems all
05:20the way up into the rest of Europe.
05:22So Italy plays a key role in the partnership of getting American LNG over into Europe.
05:29And Italy ultimately can play a key role on nuclear.
05:32So nuclear is the energy of the future.
05:33Nuclear is green energy, it's base load energy.
05:37Nuclear is going to meet the demand of the energy needs for artificial intelligence.
05:42And Italy can play a key role in driving nuclear in the future as well.
