00:00I want to start with Miami before we get into some of these other big teams here, Dave,
00:05and just how impressed you were last night watching that team on the road in conference.
00:11I was very impressed, and it's not like you didn't expect Miami to go out there and beat Stanford.
00:16The talent is insane across the board, Mensa, Tony, etc.
00:20But the way they did it, you're talking about a cross-country trip out there at night at Stanford,
00:24and they didn't take them lightly, and they went out there and just rolled them on offense.
00:28I think the offense is what's going to be a problem for the rest of the country.
00:32When you look at Heisman Trophy candidates and Mensa and Tony, the offense looks, at least last night, unstoppable.
00:39We saw what they did in the playoff.
00:41We saw what they did in every single round, and they're just reloaded for this year.
00:45They're fast. They're quick. They're as talented as anybody in the country.
00:49And really, Kevin, the only question is, are they going to stumble?
00:53Because that's what they do every year. That's what Cristobal does every year.
00:56They got the benefit of the doubt last year with the Notre Dame game and made the playoff and went
01:01on their run.
01:02But do you think that they've learned their lesson is the question?
01:05I think they can stumble and still make it and win the ACC and go on another run.
01:09But why play with fire like Cristobal likes to do?
01:13Are they going to stumble before they go to South Bend, or are they not?
01:16That's really what the question is, because they're going to roll the ACC teams.
01:18We're going to talk about it later.
01:20There's nobody in the conference that's anywhere close to Miami.
01:23Miami, but Miami doesn't win the ACC.
01:25They never have, which is kind of ridiculous when you think about it.
01:29Do you think they've learned their lesson, or do you think Cristobal is going to have one game
01:32where they just go out and stumble and lose to an SMU or a Louisville?
01:36I'd be stunned if he didn't, because he's been doing it for a decade and a half.
01:40I played their win total under 10 and a half.
01:43I don't think that they are set up to go and beat Notre Dame.
01:47I think it's been interesting.
01:48I understand that Canes fans last year, you know, they nearly had it, right?
01:54And the thought is, hey, we're going to be better this year.
01:57I don't think Miami is better.
01:59The offense might be better, but I don't think the defense is.
02:04And yes, they held Stanford a six.
02:06Stanford dropped multiple touchdowns on different drives in that game.
02:10Settle for field goals.
02:11And Stanford is not going to be the bar that the Miami Hurricanes are trying to stave off here.
02:18Between Clemson, Florida State, and Pittsburgh, that three-week run, there are challenges.
02:23And again, I can't stress this enough.
02:26Cristobal is capable of losing to teams like Stanford, even if they didn't do that last night.
02:33This is a team that many expect to roll the ACC.
02:37I get it.
02:38Time will tell.
02:39But as somebody who is, you know, failing, I was wrong.
02:42I bet against them last night.
02:43As somebody who made that decision, while I was wrong last night, I don't think big picture, I'm going to
02:49be wrong.
02:50I expect this team to do what they always do and be upset somewhere along the way.
02:55And likely happen at some point, whether it's for Clemson or whether it's for the Florida State.
03:00And they did have all offseason to prepare for this trip to Stanford.
03:03And like you said, that's not the bar.
03:06Where is it going to be in week five or week six when maybe they do stumble?
03:10And I don't think it'll be at home.
03:11It might be on the road somewhere.
03:13And that's what Cristobal and that team has done.
03:15Comparing them this year to last year, they played with fire last year.
03:19Yes, they got it done and they went to the national title game.
03:21But we don't know what went on in that room when they were deciding whether Miami was in or out.
03:27It was very, very, very close.
03:29You can make that run, but you've got to get in first.
03:31And I want to see them go out there and win the conference.
03:35Make it a no-doubter.
03:36Get your first round by and actually be in a position where you don't have to rely on the committee.
03:41And that's all going to come down to them not stumbling somewhere versus a Clemson or an SMU and not
03:47losing at South Bend and Notre Dame because they have the talent to go over 10 and a half, win
03:53the ACC, and be fine.
03:55You just wonder, it's not a hard schedule.
03:58There are stumbling blocks.
04:00Can they get it done?
04:01I mean, the talent's there on offense.
04:02But like you said, Stanford's not the bar.
