00:00And I got to tell you, Joe, first inclinations watching because we are handicappers.
00:03We understand how the markets move and how they adjust.
00:06You had minus 3,000 as a favor for Notre Dame to get in.
00:11And they've probably paid for that gravestone right there at this point because they weren't getting in.
00:15But how did you feel about that?
00:16Because I know you were actually live on a football show, on an NFL show.
00:19I'm saying it's saying, okay, I'm tracking it by 15-minute intervals or five-minute intervals.
00:2315 minutes before the show, 10 minutes before the show, five before the show, and right when the college football show kicked off.
00:28Notre Dame was into me, Joe.
00:30Shocked they got left out, to be honest.
00:32Yeah, I mean, when you see minus 3,000, and we saw it a couple years ago with the whole Florida State situation in Alabama and what transpired back then, just two years ago, there was market movement.
00:44But, you know, are there insiders outside the playoff committee that knew?
00:49I don't know.
00:50You know, or is it just people taking a shot, knowing that they, you know, it's going to come down.
00:54It's almost like a horse race, right?
00:56You have two minutes, you know they're going to release the rankings.
00:59Why not try and push the market and potentially steal value, right?
01:03I mean, you know, you and I are on air, and Kevin and I were on air, and you're watching minus 3,000.
01:10Nobody in their right mind is betting Notre Dame at that point.
01:13All you're thinking about is Notre Dame is in.
01:15When you see minus 3,000, who are they going to play, and what is the seeding?
01:20And then it shocked everybody.
01:21Miami gets in.
01:22And that was – Miami got in, Donnie, because of what transpired in the ACC championship.
01:27I believe it.
01:28You know, Virginia wins that game.
01:29It could be a different animal.
01:31But the Canes have another life.
01:33Can they step up?
01:33You were one for two.
01:35Bang.
01:35But you sold Miami, and you started on the Notre Dame.
01:39I had my hand over the button the whole year.
01:41Hand was over the button.
01:43No, you ran yourself right into the ground.
01:45By the way, I cashed out on Notre Dame before the playoff committee bought Miami before it came in.
01:49A double whammy winner here.
01:51But if we are honest here of how this all actually went down, Joe, let's talk about what happened last Saturday with those football games.
01:57Because if you are the committee, they got their worst-case scenario for chaos because every single thing that happened through what they were talking about in the weeks previous, Joe,
02:05into consideration of, oh, no, we might have to backtrack.
02:08Which means you're right about this, and I firmly believe this.
02:11If UVA ends up knocking off Duke by one point, they're going there, and then all of a sudden you can look at the committee and go, ACC, you got your team in.
02:18We don't have to make it so controversial.
02:19Maybe Notre Dame gets in.
02:20The minute Duke won that game, the ACC goes, you're not leaving us out of this.
02:24So that meant that Alabama, who, by the way, looked terrible.
02:28And I was tweeting throughout the entire game, Joe, and I said to myself, you know what?
02:32If they hang close, they're probably going to get in.
02:33They got smoke, looked like they didn't deserve to be there, Joe.
02:35How did you feel about Alabama not even moving down in the polls after that lackluster performance?
02:40That's a typical, I don't know who Alabama has pictures on, but it happens during the Nick Saban era.
02:46You know, they have a bad loss.
02:47They fall two spots and still in contention for a college football national championship.
02:52It's amazing how Alabama never gets knocked around when they have these losses.
02:58It's always the silver lining, right?
03:00You know, and they set that up with the Iron Bowl.
03:03When you heard them talk eloquently about how Alabama looked fantastic building a first half lead against a 5-7 Auburn team,
03:14it just goes to show two things.
03:17The playoff committee in these rankings are a complete joke.
03:21They're like reality TV.
03:22And I actually believe that they don't watch the games consistently enough week to week, Donnie,
03:29that when they put out rankings, they're like, oh, you know what?
03:32We'll just fix it next week.
03:33But they did it so bad, the first and previous ranking, that they got backed into a corner,
03:40and then they had to dig themselves out.
03:42If they or if you just put out rankings and say, you know what?
03:47Final rankings at the end of the regular season, nobody has a problem with it because then there's no debate.
03:52When they tell you head-to-head matters for Notre Dame and obviously Miami,
03:58but then head-to-head doesn't matter in certain circumstances.
04:01Conference championships matter for Alabama, but it doesn't matter for BYU.
04:06That just shows you there's no real process when they come out with these top 12 teams.
