00:00So the Pro Football Hall of Fame made its move, and they ended up paring it down to 25 voters
00:06instead of the original 50 voters for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
00:11This is the elite of the elite, the one percenters of the one percenters.
00:16And some significant names, and many of my friends are no longer going to have that tremendous honor of putting
00:22people into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in which my uncle's a part of it, Andy Rovostelli.
00:27I got to tell you, some of the people's names, Lisa Salters, as you see here, Tony Dungy, also will
00:34not be involved any longer in selecting the Hall of Fame.
00:38Maybe it was a little bit of the backlash on what happened with Belichick.
00:42Maybe it's also a little bit of ESPN's disdain for the Patriots and how they've covered them over the last
00:48couple years when it comes to Robert Kraft and to Bill Belichick.
00:53My friend also, Jason Cole, who comes on our program all the time, who had been a Pro Football Hall
00:59of Fame voter for over 16 years, is no longer going to have that great honor of being able to
01:05put people in the Hall of Fame.
01:06Now, does this make the process easier?
01:09No.
01:10Are you now in a position where every single city in the National Football League is going to be represented
01:15to put a potential favorite of a fan into Canton?
01:19No, because here, where we're going now with the new bylaws, not every single city is going to be represented.
01:27Why would a guy in Chicago who is going to be pimping a guy in Chicago and wanting to get
01:34him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame care about Jason Kelsey in Philadelphia, care about Lane Johnson one day
01:40when their number get called on potentially going into the Hall of Fame?
01:44Why would that guy care about another city when you're going to be chilling for another player from your respective
01:51city that you represent?
01:53The Pro Football Hall of Fame has to get it right.
01:56These are the elite of the elites, like I said.
01:59Do you know there's only been 27,000 men that have ever played pro football in 107 years of the
02:06National Football League, and there's only roughly 14,000 of us alive?
02:11And so when you get one of those gold jackets, it's important to get an opportunity to get into the
02:17Pro Football Hall of Fame.
02:19Guys like Eli Manning, his chances of making it to the Hall of Fame are slim to none now.
02:25Now you're getting rid of the Veterans Committee.
02:28Where are you going now with some of the players who will be left behind?
02:32You're not going to get an opportunity to talk to some of the guys maybe from the past that got
02:37overlooked.
02:38You're now also going to be taking people off that 50-man roster of selectors that were picking players to
02:45go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, like Rick Gosselin, who really was a caretaker of the sport.
02:51A lot of names are no longer going to be on that list to make selections for the Pro Football
02:57Hall of Fame.
02:58John McClain from the Houston Chronicle, he is also off that list.
03:02This is going to be very interesting moving forward.
03:04I think they made it even more difficult for people to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
03:10But then again, guess what?
03:12Deion was right.
03:14It should be difficult to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
03:18Over the last couple years, there's been players that have been selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, like
03:24Leroy Butler?
03:25Really?
03:26That guy's a Pro Football Hall of Famer?
03:29Or Sam Mills?
03:30Really?
03:31Those guys are Pro Football Hall of Famers?
03:33Not in my eyes.
03:35I think you've got to be elite of the elite.
03:38And I think we've been letting in, like Deion said, very good football players.
03:43This is not the Hall of very good.
03:45This is the Hall of greatness.
03:48When you walk into that building, and I have, and when you hear people talking, like John Madden said, I
03:57think the bus talk to one another when you walk into the building.
04:00And then when the lights get turned out, all the guys in the building start talking to one another about
04:07what made our great sport great.
04:09And those men in that building were the elite of the elites, and I do appreciate the way that Hall
04:16has represented the National Football League.
04:18Now, again, will it be more difficult to get in?
04:22It should be more difficult to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
04:26We should have voters that really are looking for the history of the league.
04:32We should have guys that are going to be caretakers of the sport.
04:36We should have people that are going to look out for what now has become America's pastime.
04:41There is no mistake about it.
04:43They did the right thing.
04:45You can't exile a guy like Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick by saying they're not first ballot Hall of Famers.
04:54If those two guys are not first ballot Hall of Famers, who is?
05:00That means Andy Reid is not a first ballot Hall of Famer.
05:03That means one day Patrick Mahomes is not a first ballot Hall of Famer.
05:08You can't dismiss players and coaches and owners that have meant so much to the sport.
05:15It's time they cleaned their act up, and I'm glad to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
05:20As I said, my uncle's in that place.
05:23So in our family, it matters on who goes into Canton and sits next to Andy Robustelli, Jim Brown, Vince
05:32Lombardi,
05:33and the greats that were before everyone today in the game.
05:37Make no mistake about it.
05:38Congratulations to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
05:40You absolutely did the right thing.
