00:00Sometimes sports gives you a nice big fat dish of irony that you just have to lap up and enjoy because it's a gift from the sports gods.
00:08And that happened this morning when we found out that two of the finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame have a connection to one another.
00:16And I'm here for all of it.
00:18So Bill Belichick is a finalist, took it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, Ohio.
00:23We can all agree here that regardless of this nonsense in North Carolina, regardless of the nonsense with the 24-year-old girlfriend and how icky and disgusting that is and whatever damage he might be doing to his legacy by being cuckolded by literally a woman young enough to be his granddaughter.
00:41Bill Belichick is a first ballot guaranteed Hall of Fame head coach, and he will get a unanimous vote to get into the Hall of Fame.
00:49So let's start off with that as a premise.
00:51I believe you're with me on that.
00:52100%.
00:53And look, I hate the New England Patriots.
00:54I hate the fact that he was my head coach for three minutes and retired on a cocktail napkin.
00:59He was right to do it, obviously.
01:01And we're still trying to find the right coach ever since he said no to us.
01:04That being said, no one's going to dispute.
01:08No one can debate.
01:09And if he's not a unanimous selection, then whoever didn't vote for him should lose their voting privileges.
01:15Because no matter what you say and think about Bill Belichick, he is the greatest head coach in the history of the NFL.
01:21And it will only come short to Don Shula in total wins.
01:25But if this is a league about winning, nobody has won more.
01:29Bill Belichick is in.
01:30Okay?
01:31Yep.
01:31The other guy that is now a finalist, and you could debate with me all day long as to whether or not these types of people should get in.
01:40It's an ownership group.
01:42Okay?
01:42Yeah, he's technically a contributor.
01:44That's the win.
01:45Now, I do think there are men and women who have been great contributors to the sport who do deserve the opportunity to be enshrined in the contributor wing.
01:55Right.
01:55Not in the same wing of the players.
01:57Right.
01:57But in a contributor wing to the sport of football.
02:01By the way, I feel the way about all sports, right?
02:03There are men and women who bring a lot to the table for a long period of time that should be enshrined.
02:08Okay?
02:09Mm-hmm.
02:09Robert Kraft is now a finalist.
02:11All right?
02:12So, Robert Kraft is the architect, of course, of hiring Bill Belichick.
02:17Yes.
02:17And winning all those championships.
02:19And Robert Kraft, to his credit, has also now rebuilt the Patriots after a couple down years.
02:26And going there and getting Mike Vrabel and recognizing that the guy they had for the one year was not a good head coach.
02:32Yeah.
02:33All right?
02:33And immediately replacing him, which is a sign of a competent owner.
02:37Eric, but Robert Kraft is now eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor.
02:45Robert Kraft is going to get in to the Hall of Fame one day.
02:49And it is based on merit.
02:51Robert Kraft, along with Jerry Jones, are two of the four most powerful owners in the entire sport.
02:56Yes, he is.
02:56No one can dispute that.
02:58He's got one of the loudest voices, the most powerful voices in the NFL.
03:02He's one of the reasons the NFL has made so much extra money in the Roger Goodell era as commissioner.
03:08And he's the steward of seven Super Bowl, six Super Bowl championships?
03:14Yeah.
03:14Six.
03:15Six Super Bowl championships.
03:17Right?
03:17So, all that warrants him getting in.
03:20But we also know right now in the moment that there is some blood in the water when it comes to the relationship between Robert Kraft here and Bill Belichick here.
03:35Yes, for sure.
03:35So much so that Bill Belichick, as you know, did not want to allow the Patriots to see any scouting film on any of their upcoming graduates because he has been told that he's no longer welcome at the Patriot facility or something along those lines, right?
03:55Yes, something that ends up hurting North Carolina players over a petty reason.
03:58Right.
03:58And he doesn't want Patriot scouts coming to North Carolina games.
04:03Right.
04:03He won't give them press passes.
04:05And it's like a war right now.
04:07It's a cold war, but it's a war.
04:09It's a war.
04:10Between Bill Belichick, who for some reason feels that Robert Kraft wronged him when they fired him.
04:16Yeah.
04:17And Robert Kraft, who I suppose feels that maybe Bill Belichick doesn't appreciate all the support he gave him when he first became Patriots head coach.
04:25I don't know.
04:26You would think grown men could figure their crap out and not act like schoolgirls, but here we are.
04:32So as a non-Patriot guy, I want to see both guys get in in the same year because I know they don't like each other.
04:41Makes it better.
04:42Now, perhaps, you know, Robert Kraft, who's in his 80s now, and maybe he's willing to let bygones be bygones, but that's not the guy I've read about.
04:51That's a guy who's, you know, he'll rip your heart out in a negotiation.
04:56And still full of energy.
04:57He's old in age, but he still has it as of now.
05:01There's no doubt he has it.
05:02You and I have seen him dancing on stage with Meek Mill and at all the fanatics parties, right, with our dear friend Michael Rubin and all that stuff.
05:09So you're right.
05:10Age is just a number with him.
05:12He's still very vibrant, right?
05:14But wouldn't it be great to see both those men sitting next to each other having to acknowledge each other in what they meant to each other?
05:24Because no Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick's not in the Hall of Fame.
05:28Right.
05:28No Bill Belichick.
05:30Robert Kraft is not in the Hall of Fame.
05:32No Bill Belichick.
