00:00Thankfully we've seen the heat back off a little bit. Let's take a look at Friday's highs down here near
00:04Vegas and it's still going to be hot, but 98 degrees. We can handle that. That's way better than that
00:08110, 112 that we faced not long ago. We have cooled down pretty well across most of the west. Phoenix
00:14still 102. Spotty afternoon storms tied to the monsoon moisture. Look at the northwest though. I see a lot of
00:2060s out there. If you're east of the divide, it's going to be hotter. Billings 91, but showers, even a
00:24thunderstorm in Missoula, Montana. Autumn is arriving in the northwest. Showers are rolling in.
00:29There is a lot to talk about in the west though elsewhere. Let's go into the Pacific. Here we've got
00:33three hurricanes lined up. We've got Lowell, Karina, and Marie. Marie's going to send some moisture toward California. There will
00:40be some moisture that actually makes it in, even though the center of the storm is going to be way
00:43offshore most likely. Lowell's going to hook it west and then sharply north, and that's going to be a problem
00:48on Labor Day weekend at the end of the weekend for western parts of Hawaii.
00:52So we're not officially forecasting landfall for any of these storms, but each of these are going to keep the
00:57surf very agitated. There will be some rip currents. Lowell's going to make that sweeping northward curve, and they will
01:04bring some rain and wind to the western islands.
01:06Karina will likely pass to the north and weaken because of colder water, and Marie's going to move parallel to
01:12the Pacific coast of Mexico and eventually southwestern parts of the U.S. where it will deteriorate and weaken offshore
01:18to the southwest of California.
01:20So here we have Lowell, a very photogenic storm on satellite with a well-defined eye, and look at this
01:25sharp curve northward. This will be a major hurricane when it passes a bit west of some of the western
01:30islands.
01:31There will be some impacts. We're very concerned about some of these areas, like Kapaa, where we can see 40
01:35to 60 mile-per-hour winds in parts of Lihue, seeing 2 to 4 inches of rain over the high
01:40ground in the central part of the island.
01:42This storm will have an AccuWeather Real Impact Scale rating probably on the low end of the scale. We'll keep
01:47an eye out for Karina and also for Marie, but some of the moisture will make it into California.
