00:00Could Trudy bring dangerous surf to Southern California?
00:02Well, it depends on where the storm goes next.
00:04Trudy could rapidly intensify into a category 4 hurricane near Mexico's Pacific Coast.
00:09Even reaching a cat 5 isn't out of the question.
00:11But a stronger hurricane doesn't automatically mean bigger waves at California beaches.
00:15For large swells from Trudy or Simon to reach Southern California,
00:18these storms would need to turn farther west, away from Mexico's coast next week.
00:22That's something we're watching, but not a guaranteed impact.
00:25We're seeing moisture from Simon contribute to flooding rain across the central U.S. right now, though.
00:29The biggest threat from Trudy is still in Mexico.
00:31We're forecasting gusts up to 100 miles per hour on land, dangerous surf, and flooding rain from Acapulco to Puerto
00:37Vallarta.
00:38If you have a trip planned to Mexico's Pacific Coast, make sure you check back with us for the forecast
00:41and follow for any updates on any potential U.S. impacts.
