00:00At TCU and North Carolina, it's a number that has been moving a little bit.
00:06I thought this was going to get to 10, actually.
00:09So right now we're seeing eight and a half and seven and a half.
00:12It opened at, you know, more so a flat seven, maybe even a six and a half out there.
00:18But TCU money came in.
00:21Not super surprising.
00:22People want to fade Bill Belichick off of the disaster that was last season.
00:26And I thought that that was going to continue to run up.
00:30A combination of buyback on North Carolina and some news this morning that TCU is going to be without their
00:38leading receiver, Jordan Dwyer.
00:40He was supposed to be wide receiver one for this team.
00:42Has dropped this number a little bit now, sitting down here at seven and a half.
00:48I played the eight and a half on North Carolina.
00:51I played it as soon as the news dropped.
00:54Again, I think you can still get plenty of eight and a halves out there.
00:57Because to me, that Dwyer news kind of confirmed, okay, double digits is not coming, right?
01:01Nine and a halves are not coming.
01:03There's a few different things that I think kind of work in North Carolina's favor.
01:10But there's one specific thing that they did that put a smile on my face and said, okay, I think
01:16they're serious.
01:18Which was hiring Bobby Petrino to be the offensive coordinator.
01:23Bill Belichick, in the backstretch at New England, you could tell, had like four names in his phone.
01:32And it's how Matt Patricia, Ohio State's defensive coordinator, spent a season as the offensive coordinator of the New England
01:41Patriots.
01:42I mean, it's still one of the most ridiculous things of all time.
01:46So you go into last year in North Carolina.
01:49We're all wondering what this is going to be.
01:51And it was a disaster.
01:53So instead of, you know, again, Mike Lombardi and just like some of these, you know, nonsensical people they have
02:00around the program, Bobby Petrino is the real deal.
02:05This guy can still coach offense at the college level at a high level.
02:10And that to me is almost a pretty hands-off situation for Bill Belichick.
02:15I don't think he's ever going to be 0% involved, right?
02:21That just does not, that's not Bill Belichick.
02:24But I can now bet on the North Carolina offense through the Bobby Petrino lens.
02:32And I just think it shows, Craig, I'm wondering if that lands for you, that Belichick going outside his tree
02:39shows that he's like well aware how important this year is.
02:45If this is a four-win season again, I don't think there's a third crack at it here for Bill
02:51Belichick in Chapel Hill.
02:54So I think it's more out of no choice than it is as opposed to recognizing it.
03:01I think that the stuff that surrounds the North Carolina program is troubling.
03:08I think that this point spread in a neutral site is a little troubling for North Carolina.
03:15I mean, this game is not at TCU.
03:17And what would the line be if it was?
03:20I mean, would it be 11?
03:21Would it be 12?
03:23Yeah, definitely.
03:24So it's week zero and anything can happen.
03:28And look, we saw a couple of years ago Colorado open up incredible and then sort of fell apart.
03:33And Colorado was the darling of college football.
03:35And then things didn't work out that way.
03:38I am not optimistic at all, Kevin, on North Carolina.
03:43Certainly the number, the total is low.
03:46He could get over that.
03:47I don't, but I think that this is it for Bill Belichick at North Carolina.
03:52I don't even know if he makes it through the season.
03:55For me, it was one of those things that I think it was pride on the line here.
04:02I don't think that this is something that he wanted to do.
04:04I think this is something that he had to do.
04:07And when his ego was fighting against Robert Kraft, and I suppose what really happened there,
04:12we don't know the truth, Kevin, is that it does certainly feel like Robert Kraft told Arthur Blank not to
04:17hire him at Atlanta.
04:18It feels that way to me because like every sign pointed toward him getting that job.
04:22And then when that happens, Kevin, just sort of having some familiarity with the game,
04:27Arthur Blank, you know, you know, secretly probably is like, you know, wait, what happened?
04:32Arthur, you know, another owner calls Arthur Blank.
04:34Hey, why didn't you hire?
04:34Well, I'll tell you why we didn't hire.
04:36And, you know, and then all of a sudden he is out and he's got no choice.
04:40And he's like, you know what?
04:41I'm going to save face here and I'm going to go to North Carolina.
04:44Now, let me take a step back.
04:46Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all time.
04:48He's best coordinator of all time.
04:50He's a, you know, Hall of Famer, best I've ever seen.
04:54This is going to be, I think, a stain on the resume.
04:57And I don't even know that he makes it through the season, Kevin.
05:00I do not have high hopes for the Tar Heels.
05:02But in a week one scenario, as I said, anything can happen.
05:05It's a neutral site.
05:07I have some fear that the Tar Heels are going to be one of the worst teams in the conference
05:11again.
05:12And I think that Belichick will be back and he'll coach in the NFL as a coordinator of some kind.
05:17And maybe it ends up working out for him in the end.
05:20But this is all about ego for me, Kevin.
05:21Nothing else.
05:22I think that's why he's there.
05:23And unfortunately, ego took over.
05:24And I don't see success coming this year.
