00:00How do you think J.J. McCarthy's feeling right now, Jacob, as he is likely losing the backup
00:07role to Carson Wentz? Now, to give Carson Wentz credit, he knows the offense. He's been there,
00:15you know, with O'Gonnell. He knows what's going on, but he is outplayed. J.J. McCarthy,
00:20remind us, 10th overall pick just a few years ago. He likely may not be wearing a Minnesota
00:28uniform here, despite the fact that Kyle Murray can't see over the offensive line, according to
00:33his coach. But what do you do if you're Minnesota? Are you trying to find a trade partner? Because
00:39he's not well-liked in a locker room either. Yeah, I think this, Joe, reminds me a lot of
00:45the Anthony Richardson situation with the Colts. You know, we went into last offseason, and we
00:50thought, hey, Anthony Richardson is going to beat Daniel Jones, and then if he struggles as a starter,
00:54Jones is going to come in and replace him, and that'll be the end of that. But then,
00:57once Jones won the thing, Richardson ended up in this weird spot where it was like,
01:02oh, they've kind of given up on him, but they're not fully giving up on him. They still hung on
01:05to
01:06him. He requested a trade this offseason. He's still there. I think McCarthy could find himself
01:10in kind of a similar situation where, you know, the Vikings are going to want to, if they want to
01:15get
01:15rid of him, they're going to want to get something for him. But what is his trade value? It's going
01:19to
01:19be pretty close to non-existent. Teams aren't going to be looking at McCarthy and saying, hey, this is a
01:23guy
01:23that maybe could be a franchise quarterback. He's a reclamation project at this point,
01:27and teams just aren't going to be willing to give up much for that. So, I think in a weird
01:31way,
01:31Minnesota is probably going to be stuck with J.J. McCarthy there. They may just keep him this
01:36season, try to develop him behind Kyler, see if he can make some strides. I mean, there was a time
01:41late in last season where it looked like he was taking some steps forward, but it wasn't really
01:45going to be enough to make him like a surefire starter. So, I think it's a tough situation for him.
01:50He's just going to have to abide by what Minnesota wants to do, and if he ends up as the
01:54third-string
01:55quarterback, he's probably just going to have to work his tail off behind the scenes and prove
01:59that he belongs in the NFL. But it's a really tough situation for him, and I don't think Minnesota is
02:04just going to let him shake loose, you know? No, I don't think so either. But again, Sunday brings
02:10some interesting moves in the NFL. It's a cut-down day. Maybe McCarthy, who knows, is headed somewhere
02:15else on Sunday. I wouldn't be shocked by that, by the way.
