00:01A major gathering of Sudanese political forces and civil society groups opposed to the war in Sudan
00:07has wrapped up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
00:11The groups have rejected General Abdel Fattah al-Burham's proposed national dialogue,
00:17saying they will not participate or recognise its conclusions.
00:21They argue that the initiative cannot bring peace while fighting continues,
00:26especially with the rapid support forces led by General Hametti excluded from the talks.
00:33Former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok has also stressed that no credible peace process is possible without an end to the
00:41fighting.
00:42Participants accused Burhan of using the dialogue to legitimise his authority following the 2021 military coup.
00:50They also warned that the initiative could deepen Sudan's division.
00:54The meeting brought together members of the National Congress Party,
00:59the UMA Movement, the Peace Coalition Summoned and Sudanese civil society organisations.
