00:14uh joining us after um of course let's start in washington and then we'll zoom out over over the
00:21league um there's a lot of excitement here about jayden daniels year three adding a receiver like
00:28stefan digs terry mclaurin fully healthy what what do you think about this commander's offense with a
00:34new play caller and david blau and you're a player that has talked about jayden daniels plenty over
00:39the years like what do you think this offense could accomplish yeah obviously massive fan of jayden um
00:46you know i think there's a little bit of just reality unknown exactly what david blau's offense
00:51is going to look like you know because of his playing career in a couple different places and
00:58different i guess wrinkles of offenses not knowing exactly how that's going to look i would imagine
01:05it's a it's a little bit of a you know a shanahan um ben johnson marriage like visually you know

01:13think that's going to be very different than what cliff ram obviously and way more um traditional
01:20football jayden underneath the center a lot more play action a lot more changing where he's throwing the
01:25football from so it's just an unknown because he's such a young player sean manion who's the
01:30eagles coordinator i could tell you like because of his sean manion played under sean mcvay matla for
01:35so i've got a pretty good feel for like what his offense is going to be um you know i
01:41think that
01:41i'd love the addition from a football perspective of steph steph still wins steph still can kill in the
01:48crossers um and i think that's something that jayden throws at a high level i'm a big chig
01:53wonku fan you know being as successful as he was in tennessee with you know young quarterback play
02:01i mean and kind of up and down quarterback play i think just as a throw a pass catching threat

02:06good so i think this offense will be way more um deceptive you know the the advantage specifically
02:15of two years ago i know jayden was hurting some last year but the advantage of the no huddle and
02:20the tempo and you know some of the out leveraging um probably not going to be utilized as much um
02:26obviously the loss of tonsil is a big deal i know brandon coleman's played but that's a big deal
02:31um and that's going to have a tremendous impact but i'm i'm interested to see kind of what the
02:37identity uh the calling part of this offense will be for sure and and i think you know from what
02:43i've
02:44seen early on it's motion it's a lot of tight ends it's guys moving around pre-snap and i i
02:50i think
02:51they're trying to make things easier for jayden daniels we've seen jayden perform at the highest levels
02:57but what do you think like more play action more under center more bootlegs can can do for number
03:03five yeah yeah so one of the things that is very different about the nfl now than five years ago
03:11was
03:11explosive plays are at a premium defenses are putting that umbrella that shell on offenses
03:19and they're matching coverages immediately what i mean by that is five or six years ago
03:25rpos were a huge part of the nfl and space and you would spread people out get the ball to
03:31the
03:31quarterback's hands rpo and a five-yard throw and become a 15-yard completion that's gone now for the
03:38most part because teams are now playing so much match coverage so almost like a man okay so um and
03:44that teams are daring teams to play physical offensively put the quarterback underneath the center run the
03:50football and have efficient drives so that the counter is then from an offense we want to create
03:56explosives because we don't really want to go on 12 14 play drives they're hard to do there's two ways
04:02to get explosive often offensively we have one person who we could put out there on the outside and
04:07just throw them the ball down the field julio jones jamar chase aj brown in his heyday the commanders
04:15don't have that guy the other only other way the only other way consistently is the play action pass game
04:21to get the defense to commit downhill to stretch the defense down the field and then you create those
04:27voids in the middle of the field um and that's a need and i think that that will make any
04:32quarterback's job
04:33easier and beneficial uh so i think that's going to be step number one um step number two
04:39the more that you can change where the quarterback is throwing the ball from
04:42the more than likely less hits they're going to take take keeping the quarterback upright obviously
04:48a big deal i think the more that they can do that and be diversified on offense i do a
04:54bunch of the
04:54same things from different looks i mean those are the offenses that are the most week-to-week
05:00consistent in the nfl and reliable and i'm i'm hoping for commander's fans that becomes one of them
05:05uh the young kid here antonio um williams uh jamber clemson now do you have any uh any take on
05:14him
05:14you've watched any of him in college yep i've followed a couple of his games i've followed games
05:19when he was you know playing as a true freshman at clemson really talented guy uh route running you
05:24know sudden at the top of his routes i'm not going to tell everybody he's a big body guy and
05:29i'm not
05:29going to tell everybody that he is um you know uh the speedster down the field but he is a
05:35that fast vertical player that can shut down the top of routes and separate and get open so um you
05:41know with with terry there in the addition of steph him having to win matchups you know versus a third
05:48and or fourth corner i think it gives them a chance for success so uh he's a guy that you
05:53can get the
05:53ball into in his hands um you know and and he reminds me a little bit um obviously became a
06:00great player but a little bit of tyler lockett back in the day from seattle just a really strong
06:06at the top of route go get the ball in the air type of player that um has the chance
06:10to become a
06:10really nice receiver for sure um i also you you mentioned you really like chig i think they're
06:17going to play a lot more tight ends i think you'll see more 13 and even 14 personnel but i
06:23think chig's
06:23kind of a different player in that he's not like the most traditional tight end like i think he'll
06:28kind of line up in the slot what do you think of of his fit with jaden daniels and his
06:33game overall
06:34yeah i think he's a really athletic player he probably leans himself or lends himself a little
06:39bit more to a pass catcher than your traditional blocker hopefully john bates can really thrive in
06:44that role um again style and and usage he's he will for me represent a little bit of like
06:53trey mcbride from arizona is he going to become trey mcbride from a production and dominance
06:59standpoint i i don't see that um but usage where you're trying to get those matchups in the play
07:06action pass game where he's really stretching the field vertically and then breaking away from
07:11coverage you can put him by himself and he can win at times but him work in the middle of
07:16the field
07:16and kind of like the the in the crosser the climb game where he's he's gaining things down the field
07:24leverage down the field i think that's his strength one of the things that i thought jaden did
07:29exceptionally well in college and certainly his rookie year was just throw that 18 to 24 yard route
07:37whatever route it is that that eight that you have to layer over people i think he does that at
07:42a high
07:42level that's probably the the place that um i would expect them to utilize chigs just vertical
07:49speed as much as they can talking with dan orlovsky here on the rude guest hotline you can give him

08:09a little bit and just talk about the nfc east um you know there's a lot of questions about jalen
08:15hurts you mentioned sean manion earlier like kind of his tree landing him the eagles offensive
08:20coordinator job what do you think of of hurts in a very different kind of timing based offense
08:26without a player like aj brown and you know those two may not have been best of friends but aj
08:32brown
08:32helps a quarterback a lot and he's not there yeah it if you had told me um hey jalen hurts
08:42the
08:42three things that maybe he doesn't do at the highest or best level as a quarterback because
08:47he obviously does a ton at a very high level i would tell you yeah he doesn't go under center
08:52a ton
08:52um he doesn't throw over the middle field a ton or with a ton of success uh and he doesn't
08:59see over the
09:00middle of the field very comfortably uh those would be my three answers sean manion what's probably the
09:06the foundational elements of his offense look going to go under center and we're going to use play
09:11action to throw the ball over the middle of the field and so it is interesting that that's the
09:15marriage i'm not betting against jalen hurts because he's been through it so much but this is a completely
09:20different world than he has ever operated and so i am of the belief that philly's offense will look
09:26very different in november than it does in september you are banking on makai lemon and eli stowers their
09:33first and second round pick being really good players both as rookies one from usc one from
09:38vanderbilt that's going to take time and so um it's a it's a pretty big unknown for a team that's
09:44a super
09:45bowl contending team to be like okay how how will this offense actually operate yeah and it's part of
09:53why i like washington to go up there week one and sneak out with at least have a real opportunity
09:58to
09:58sneak out with a win because i think the eagles by thanksgiving are going to be a way different team
10:03than uh than september um dallas a lot to like offensively definitely you know what dak could do
10:10pickens cd that run game defensively they've improved a lot you think dallas can make a run at
10:16the eagles for the division there's no question if they sell it stay healthy defense is massively
10:22improved i think caleb downs is going to be the guy with along with reuben bain in tampa
10:26that everyone looks back to that well the nfl overthought that because they weren't big enough
10:31fast enough strong for whoever it is he flat out can play football that was a huge weakness of
10:36weakness of theirs last year um you watched their third round pick jay sean barham this past weekend
10:41you know just bringing the physical presence back like the violence back to the defense
10:47um i think it's going to be meaningful and malachi lawrence the kid they took in the first round
10:52that second pick outside of her opposite caleb and from ucf going to get better as the season goes on
10:59so i think they're vastly improved from a defensive perspective um if they stay healthy
11:04it's a very very good offense and there's zero doubt that this team will contend for the nfc
11:11east to championships absolutely looking at the new york giants and uh jackson dart you can see him
11:17at times he shows that he has what it takes to be a quarterback but he takes a lot of
11:21those he thinks
11:22he's a running back he could run over linebackers what are your thoughts on him huge jackson dart
11:28fan you know i thought he was much a higher or worthy of a higher pick last year than he
11:33ended up being
11:33um i think from an offensive perspective they're going to be um hot and cold obviously malachi excuse
11:41me malik neighbors health is a big part of that i think malachi fields their third round third round
11:47pick wide receiver out of notre dame's got to become a really good player isaiah like he comes from
11:51baltimore really nice player so you know jackson they're going to be moments of the splash plays can
11:57he become the consistent with his feet in the pocket quarterback um that's probably
12:03the biggest question mark i have from an offensive perspective i think their offensive line is going
12:07to be better i think they're running the football well under matt naggy but jackson's feet are really
12:12the story and sometimes his feet because he's so talented make plays and sometimes it misses plays
12:20for him i think their defensive line will be very good um i think the giants are just going to
12:25be an
12:25annoying team to play against people have claimed that they think that they're a playoff team i'm not
12:31there with them i think they are playing like meaningful games in december but i don't see
12:37them as a playoff team but i just see them as a very challenging and difficult opponent to play

12:54you knew this but my super bowl prediction is a rematch of bangles rams this time with joe burrow
12:59holding the lombardi i think you're pretty high on the bangles as well yeah i am um i'm also very
13:06candid they're all in you know like this this is a make or break year and when i say break
13:11if they
13:12don't win things are going to change and i don't think it's just um hey you know like maybe we'll
13:17get
13:17a new head coach you know so that'd be four straight years of not getting into the playoffs for
13:21the bangles and that just doesn't happen with elite quarterbacks that often so um it's the easiest
13:26schedule of football um they don't take they don't play against like a gauntlet of afc quarterbacks
13:31i think obviously lamar twice i think washington played them but they're really talented on the
13:36offensive side of the football their defensive line will determine how good they are the dexter
13:41lawrence trade but they have cassius howell who they took in the second round out of a and m he
13:45led
13:45dcc in sacks a shamar stewart is he going to be healthy how impactful can he be brian cook comes
13:51over
13:51from the chiefs at safety so super easy schedule i think 13 14 wins he's absolutely on the table
13:57um yeah and then they can get in they can beat anybody because the quarterback and receivers are
14:01so so good um you know i think the afc is very wide open but um you know if if
14:09they don't get in
14:10i would be floored um but if they're healthy if joe plays 17 games they're in i i'm with you

14:16um let's talk two quarterbacks that i think face really immense pressure because to me lamar and
14:24josh allen have entered the phase of their careers where unless they could win a super bowl they're
14:30going to be viewed as as guys that just couldn't win the big one for all of their greatness um
14:35where
14:35where do you see both you know both of those players both of those teams going into this season
14:41yeah i totally agree they're going to be in that conversation until they win that's the burden
14:47that they have earned because they've been so great uh not perfect teams but plenty good enough
14:54to win the super bowl um interior of the offensive line of baltimore is completely new um vegas juane
15:00the first round pick out of penn state at guard looks to be a very good pick um you know
15:06jacoby lane
15:06who's their third round receiver they're going to be relying on him bateman's been up and
15:10down health and performance have as an off the field issue right now they lose isaiah likely so
15:16they're the past game you know they're going to be tapping into a third round receiver that is a long
15:23kind of go get the ball guy but not necessarily a winner when it comes to getting open and so
15:28how good is he i think the defense is going to be very good um now the bk's got to
15:34play hopefully he's
15:35healthy enough but the defense will be very good jesse mentors great so baltimore is going to be awesome
15:39um i think buffalo's roster a lot better than people think top five offensive line top five run
15:45game six or seven deep tight end and wide receiver they got some really good closures on the defensive
15:51side the defensive line they're really young in the secondary but athletic so you know i think both
15:56those teams are playoff teams absolutely and then you know the question is can can the team in buffalo
16:01play its best games in january and in baltimore can the quarterback play his best football in january
16:07do you think that's a fair prism to to judge lamar and alan just that everything they've
16:13accomplished the mvp awards all of it like but they haven't even gotten to a super role
16:19they're starting quarterbacks in the nfl with mvp next to the name nothing they'll experience is fair
16:24you know um is it proper absolutely but there's context attached to it you know josh has had playoff
16:31games where he's been absolutely off the charts and the team has let him down lamar has had playoff
16:37games where he has not played up to his standard or expectation or the way he has in the regular
16:43season and he's at times let the team down um and i think that's probably the most accurate way to
16:50look at them uh when it comes to their playoff performances yeah for sure um it's the other
16:58quarterback that maybe has been the biggest thorn in the side for josh allen and lamar jackson is pat
17:03mahomes mahomes now coming off a major injury what are expectations for mahomes i mean he's played at
17:10just the highest level we've seen in this generation yeah i mean most he's probably the best player that
17:15i've ever seen outside of tom brady so the expectations for patrick or patrick to be patrick
17:19um you know how much does the injury impact his playmaking style uh the jaw-dropping plays i don't
17:28have kansas city in the playoffs right now um i think it's a roster that is a year away you've

17:35pretty significant questions at tackle you've got fair questions at wide receiver um how good they'll be
17:42how healthy they'll be you've got five rookies that i would tell you you're banking on playing
17:49and playing important and meaningful snaps two first round picks and sort of delaying your
17:56beater woods have got to be big time our mason thomas who's their second round pick at oklahoma
18:00as a pass rusher she's got to be big time now i will say he's been he's looked awesome in
18:05the
18:05preseason cyrus allen edward receiver i think is going to be important so i just think that's a lot
18:10um and you know in a division with both the chargers and denver um it's it's a big burden and
18:17ask
18:18from andy reed and patrick mahomes um i'm not betting against them quote unquote but i i think
18:23that this roster is still a year away with some of the youth that they have hey dan last one
18:28i wanted
18:28to throw at you this cleveland situation i think you've been pretty vocal that you think shador has
18:33earned that job but what do you make of of how the browns are handling the quarterback position
18:39yeah i don't like it um i said if this was strictly football 50 50 coin flip for me you
18:46know when
18:46such a door was average in week one in the preseason and i thought he was better in week two
18:51i thought deshaun was um solid week one and really bad week two um but i i could not believe
19:00after the
19:01saturday press conference and the way that deshaun handled that that they named him the starting
19:06quarterback i think it's disrespectful to the cleveland browns fans i have said this if he's still
19:11the starter week three i would not go to games if i was a browns fan um but they don't
19:15play home
19:16game until week three so we'll see what happens week one and week two um but i was i was
19:22very
19:22surprised that they went that route um well said there uh dan thank you for the time dude as somebody
19:28locally that gets a lot of crap all the time the fact that you can handle it as well as
19:33you do
