There's no doubt Anthony Davis makes the Wizards better, but is the best move eventually to trade him?

00:00Anthony Davis, when he's healthy, you see what he can get you.
00:0134-12, like that.
00:03But this is also a team that right now, their next step is play in tournament playoffs.
00:07It's not championship yet.
00:08And Anthony Davis does want to play for a team that's ready to win a championship.
00:12The Wizards are climbing towards that direction.
00:14They're the Thunder or the Spurs, you know, three, four years ago,
00:19depending on the timetable for each one of those.
00:21But if you're the Wizards and you have the opportunity to get,
00:24maybe you get a first-round pick out of this and another young player,
00:27the one thing you have to keep in mind, when you've got young rosters,
00:29that's great, eventually you've got to start paying guys.
00:31There's a reason why they traded Denny Avdia.
00:33It wasn't his talent, it was that he had a contract coming up
00:35and you knew the timing wasn't right.
00:37Paying a guy a big deal, whatever that looks like on a scale,
00:41when everybody else is young and you're rebuilding,
00:43it doesn't make any financial sense.
00:44It doesn't make any sense from roster construction.
00:47It's kind of that situation now, too, where if you can get a draft pick
00:50and you can continue to identify this young talent like you are
00:53and you have picks down the road that can help fill in some gaps
00:56with more young guys, it makes the roster cheaper
00:58so you can pay an A.J. Dobonsa down the road, a max contract,
01:02or a Keyshawn George or an Alex Sar.
01:04That lets you get talent in that's cheap at the same time.
01:07So I would move Anthony Davis if his stock is high
01:09because it has nothing to do with his talent.
01:12It has to do with where this team is and where their roster is
01:15and what they can do with his value down the road, too.
01:17I'm not going to work to...
