00:00And one of the teams, Bill, that was a glaring omission in this, who has been a staple in the
00:05top 25, and for a while was a staple in the top five, was the Clemson Tigers.
00:11And they were ranked in the coaches, right there at the back end of it, not ranked in the AP.
00:19And, you know, you take a look at that, and you're like, okay, they kind of slid on out.
00:24Vegas is telling us their win total is seven and a half this year.
00:28Not a team that's probably top 25 caliber unless they exceed it by, you know, a game and a half
00:34and get to maybe nine wins.
00:37Is this like the ammo that Dabo needs, or is this more emblematic or indicative of kind of where Clemson
00:43is right now?
00:44I think they can get to eight wins.
00:46I kind of like that bet, you know, in terms of if they can't get to seven and a half
00:50wins, they're going to be on our timeline a lot this year because that means Dabo would have had back
00:54-to-back disappointing seasons.
00:56I know they definitely have a tough opener at LSU.
00:59I'm not surprised they're not ranked coming off a seven and six season.
01:03They are on that fringe of a team that would be ranked between 23 and 25 anyway.
01:10But there's a lot to prove for them in the ACC when they've moved down the pecking order from Miami,
01:16from SMU, and from Louisville.
01:19You know, the Louisville team has a really big game against Ole Miss, probably just as much of a feature
01:25game for the conference as Clemson-LSU is, and SMU plays at Florida State in week one as well.
01:31So I think that that'll sort itself out a little bit, but not stunned by it.
01:36But it's, you know, we've talked about this on this show over the last couple of years.
01:39It's just interesting that Clemson has kind of incrementally fallen from the national picture.
01:45I know they saved face with a playoff berth a couple years ago, but I don't think they're taken seriously
01:50as a national championship contender anymore.
01:54Now, on a scale from one to ten, how hot is the seat for Dabo Sweeney this year?
01:59And, like, what are his expectations supposed to be if he wants to keep his job?
02:03I think he'll keep his job anyways.
02:04What do you think the record needs to be in order for him to kind of get that heat off
02:08of him?
02:09Well, here's the thing.
02:10I had this – it was funny, Steele, you say that, because last year we had this big debate in
02:16a sporting news college football meeting,
02:18and Morgan Moriarty, she does contributing work for us.
02:21She was suggesting that it could happen at some point.
02:25I was like, they'll never fire Dabo, blah, blah, blah, and went on this big tirade.
02:29And then they went seven and six, and I was kind of thinking, you know, once he gets into a
02:35couple of those press conferences
02:36where it gets weird, and it got weird a couple times last year,
02:40I started to wonder if he would leave on his own terms at some point.
02:43And I still think that's possible because the expectations at Clemson, which he created,
02:50are they expect to win ACC titles and go on deep playoff runs when the reality is before him that
02:57wasn't really happening.
02:58So I won't assign a win total to it, but they definitely need to be better than they were last
03:03year.
