Congress leader Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in dharna at the Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi alongside party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress members. The protest was organized to demand the registration of a First Information Report regarding an alleged pellet gun injury sustained by a nineteen-year-old student named Sahil during a previous protest at Jantar Mantar. Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by the injured student, his family, and legal counsel, met senior police officials to submit a complaint. Delhi Police officials stated that the complaint has been received and will be transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation. Meanwhile, Indian Youth Congress and Seva Dal workers congregated outside the police station, writing graffitis and raising slogans against the administration while demanding action. Senior party leaders including Jairam Ramesh and Salman Khurshid joined the sit-in inside the police station premises.

00:00An odd story of this bulletin is coming in from National Capital Delhi, in fact heart of the National Capital
00:05Delhi and that is in Central Delhi where Rahul Gandhi, the leader of opposition with fellow MP and his sister
00:11Priyanka Gandhi Vajra have been protesting.
00:14Look at that, they are still on the ground, full on theatrics, high voltage drama. This is the second time
00:19such a protest has been organised by Rahul Gandhi.
00:21The earlier one, remember, on 21st July was right outside Prime Minister's residence, 7LKM.
00:28He's now been sitting on this dharna for over three hours alongside the man wearing the black shades is Lochab.
00:36He's a teenager, 19 years of age. The claims are that he's been hit by the pellet gun that was
00:40used during that protest at Jantar Mantar by the police, by the RAF and he's now demanding an FIR to
00:47be filed on that.
00:49Rahul Gautam is joining me for the latest on that.
00:51Rahul, what is the latest? If you can show us around, is he still seated? Where's Priyanka Gandhi Vajra? What
00:57is the reason? Why is he not moving away?
01:05Amit Bhardwaj also continues to be with us. Amit, I'll come to you if you can hear me. Yes.
01:12Amit, what is the situation like? Clearly looks like a lot of Congress workers also have congregated.
01:21Pooja, there are two aspects of the protest going on. One inside the Parliament Street police station where Rahul Gandhi
01:28along with the lawyers and Sahil is inside.
01:32But outside, these are the Congress Party workers who are sitting on Dharna, supporting their NETA.
01:38The graffities are also being written on the street seeking resignation of Home Minister.
01:43And all of this started more than four hours back when Rahul Gandhi took everybody by surprise.
01:50He came here with the family members of Sahil and demanded that FIR should be lost into the pellet gun
01:59that was fired.
02:00And these are the IYC workers who are now slognering right outside the police station demanding that FIR should be
02:08lost.
02:10You are in the protest, FIR's demanding, FIR's demanding, you are out there.
02:15You are out there, you are out there.
02:16So can you be in solidarity with me, you are out there, until you are out there?
02:21You are out there, you are out there, you are out there.
03:05We will also show you the visuals of Pooja, what's happening outside the Parliament Street police station.
03:11These are the IYC workers raising slogans.
03:14And right behind me, you would see the Seva Dal workers who are sitting on Dharna, outside that police station
03:21as well,
03:22making the similar demand that the FIR should be registered.
03:26And many of the Congress NETAs are reaching here.
03:29Be it KL Sharma of the Congress Party is the MP, he is here in solidarity, in support of Rahul
03:35Gandhi.
03:35These are the Seva Dal workers who are sitting on Dharna, right on the gate of the Parliament Street police
03:42station.
03:43Guitar is here.
03:44So it's also a musical, you know, Dharna, where they're using all creative methods to say their demand, to reiterate
03:53their demand.
03:53And with Cherkha, there's a mini Cherkha as well, which I'll request Manish to show that the different methods that
04:02the Congress Party workers are using right now,
04:05in order to launch their protests, demand FIR into the firing of the pellet guns that happened as per the
04:13Congress Party during the 20th July protests.
04:16So, and these are the Congress Party workers demanding resignation of the Home Minister.
04:21And you had another press conference coming from J.P. Neda, a few kilometres away from here, in the Lothian
04:28Zone as well.
04:29The Union Minister saying that LOP Rahul Gandhi is doing politics in name of students.
04:36But on the other side, Pooja, the visuals that are coming from the Lothian Zone is also an interesting one,
04:42because it's not been quite long since we saw Rahul Gandhi on a sit-in Dharna right outside Prime Minister's
04:49residence for three hours.
04:51Amit, stay on with me, because the question also to ask is,
04:55has Rahul Gandhi understood what's clicking with the mass audience when it comes to the issue that he's raising this
05:01time,
05:01compared to, let's say, a lot of other issues he had been raising in the past few months,
05:05especially since the 20th July protests, the issues that he's picking up are about youth, Gen Z,
05:11and using that to target the Modi government.
05:14Srishti Oja is also on the ground.
05:16Srishti, how is the deployment like?
05:17Are they letting Rahul Gandhi sit?
05:19Or are the senior police officers coming to say, you need to move from here?
05:22What is the situation like? What are we expecting?
05:30Well, Pooja, it's been almost four hours now that Rahul Gandhi has been here outside Parliament Street Police Station,
05:37right outside the DCP office.
05:38Now, it started with him coming to this police station to have a conversation with the DCP,
05:44with one demand registered in FIR.
05:46He had come along with the alleged pellet gun victim, Sahil, and his family and his lawyer.
05:50Demands very simple, registered in FIR, as far as the use of pellet gun allegations.
05:55During the protest, our concern.
05:56Now, after that meeting, after he came out, since no FIR was registered,
06:01he has been sitting on a dharna right here.
06:03If we show our viewers the visuals,
06:05eventually, after some time, we saw Congress workers come outside police station,
06:11raising slogans, followed by senior Congress leaders,
06:14including Priyanka Gandhi, Wadra, Jairam Ramesh,
06:18and others, Salman Khurshid, come inside the police station.
06:22Even the protesters, the Congress workers who were protesting outside the police station,
06:26pushed their way through the gate to come inside.
06:29As we can see, there are Congress workers here in our visuals.
06:32We can see the senior Congress leaders along with Rahul Gandhi still staging their stand right here.
06:39Earlier, when Rahul Gandhi spoke, he also said that they only have a simple demand.
06:44If that's fulfilled, we will leave.
06:45Register an FIR.
06:48The complaint has already been given.
06:50Register an FIR and we leave.
06:52So, his demand is very simple.
06:54And he's made it clear that unless and after that FIR is registered,
06:57they are not going to leave from here.
06:59They will be sitting outside the DCP office.
07:01I also asked if you saw the DCP himself come out and try and speak to Rahul Gandhi.
07:06As far as the meeting, as far as the meeting that happened today,
07:11Rahul Gandhi's meeting with the DCP and Joint Commissioner is concerned.
07:14What our Delhi police sources have told us is,
07:17a complaint was given.
07:19The complainant in that case is the 90-year-old student Sahil himself.
07:22The complaint has been taken by the Delhi police.
07:25They have said that they will be transferring it to the crime branch,
07:27which is probing the case.
07:29And they've also informed Rahul Gandhi...
07:29Srishtri, I'll keep coming back to you.
07:31And remember, that is where a lot of activity is taking place.
07:35But this is Rahul Dharna 2.2, as we are calling it.
