00:00So you've just started a brand new world and perhaps have survived through the first night,
00:04but now you want to upgrade to something more stylish to help take you through the early game.
00:07Today I'll be showcasing 10 simple designs that aim to do exactly that.
00:12So kicking us off, we have this simple riverside base in the side of a hill.
00:16My favourite kind of starter base to build, mainly because it takes very little work to
00:20make look good. You just need a nice entrance on the front and you're good to go. So to build
00:24this,
00:24start by finding a hillside and flatten it out, preferably near a river, and I'll get back to
00:28Y in a second. Then make a simple entrance design. Here I've used spruce, but this could easily be
00:33swapped out for any wood type you have nearby. Then simply just dig out the inside. You can start
00:38with something small and expand further as you progress throughout the game. This is another
00:42reason why I love this base so much. This could potentially be the only base you'll ever need to
00:46build. Now this of course doesn't have to be built by the river, but having instant access to boat
00:51travel in the early game will save a lot of time when exploring, and it's just a whole lot more
00:55scenic. There's so many designs you can do for this. I've got loads of tutorials on my page for
01:00this top of base, and you can also download a super flat world full of hundreds of my builds.
01:05Link is down below. Another great option for the early game is the classic underground base.
01:11Much like the hillside base, it's easy to start off with something small and expand as and when you
01:15need. To build this, we're going to start off by designing the entrance above the ground, and this
01:19specific design is going to use a glass roof. However, this is a great one to turn into a secret
01:23base,
01:23something we'll feature later in the video. Once you're happy with the design, and again there's
01:28loads of options you can use here, the next step is to simply dig down. I like to start with
01:32a main
01:32central room, and then make further rooms off of this. You could have one for storage, one for
01:36smelting, you get the idea. I also like to include a mine entrance down here, for quick access without
01:41having to leave your base. Now speaking of leaving the base, we've got a few options here. In this one
01:46I've opted for a water stream, but you could keep it simple with some ladders or a staircase,
01:52or perhaps go even further and build a slime block launcher like this one.
01:59Now perhaps living below the ground isn't quite for you, and instead you want something a little
02:03closer to nature. Enter the treehouse base. This is one of the most iconic early game builds, and for
02:08good reason. It takes very few resources, keeps you up high away from mobs, and gives you the perfect
02:13view of everything around you. So the first step is to pick a tree, and I'd recommend finding a taller
02:18tree like a jungle or a spruce, just to give you a bit more room to work with, but it's
02:22definitely
02:22doable on smaller trees too. After you've picked a tree, start by building a ladder up to your desired
02:28height, and then use slabs to create a platform around it. And then once you've got it the size
02:33you want, we're going to need to add a railing around the edge. We of course don't want any
02:36unwanted casualties. Once you have a secure platform, we can then add all of the base necessities.
02:42Now the main limitation with this is the size. You know, we can't expand like we could the previous
02:46two bases. However, if you did pick a taller tree, you can make multiple layers to expand
02:50your building area. Or even better, start connecting nearby trees with bridges, and create yourself
02:56a full treehouse network. Now, maybe you're after something a little more secure, and want
03:03to feel a bit more protected. In that case, a small castle base is a great option. So the
03:08first step of course is to find a nice location. And for these, I love to build them on the
03:12top
03:12of a hillside. Just make sure you've got enough space around you to expand later.
03:16Next, you want to decide on the block pallet. And since this is early game, we're going to
03:20keep it simple and use stone. So let's start by building up your main tower. In this design,
03:24I've gone for a small circular shape, but square shapes work great too. To add more detail,
03:29mix in other blocks like andesite and stone bricks. This helps to make it a bit more interesting,
03:34and give it a sort of weathered look. But stone on its own can be quite bland, so we'll
03:38fix this by adding some wooden details for the door and windows. And we can't forget
03:42some leaves and flowers for a further pop of colour. Of course, you'll want to include
03:46access to the roof as well, so you can easily defend your base from above. Once your tower's
03:51in place, you can start to build further walls and towers around it. Another base that's
03:54perfect for expanding as you play through the game. It's also a good idea to add a simple
04:00wall around the front of your build, so you can have things like crop farms, animal pens,
04:04and really anything else you can think of.
04:09Now, this next one takes a spin on the regular treehouse, and it's perhaps even easier to
04:13make. This uses a design where the main structure can be built in just a few seconds. Simply
04:17plant some spruce saplings in a 6x6 formation, and then grow them using bone mill, starting
04:21from the northwest corner. For some reason, the other corners just burn through your bone
04:24mill and don't actually grow. But once fully grown, you'll have one giant solid spruce tree
04:28to work with. Next, just add a few windows and a door to the front, and then begin to
04:32carve out the inside. You can start with a single layer, and as you progress, expand the
04:37base upwards by using ladders and adding extra floors. You could easily fit about 4 or 5 stories
04:42in here. Now, the best part is that once you've hollowed out the middle, you'll end up with
04:46a good few stacks of logs. Now, this 6x6 tree method also works great as a quick and easy
04:50wood farm in the early game. And of course, make sure to add access to the top of the tree
04:55to make the most of the views around you. Now, if you need even more space, you can repeat
04:59the same a few blocks over and connect the two together with a small bridge. This works
05:03perfect for a two-player world. You can technically live together, but at the same time still have
05:07some personal space. Now, maybe you're playing a multiplayer world, but instead want your
05:14base completely hidden from your friends. Well, in that case, you'll want a secret base.
05:18Now, there's hundreds of ways to hide a base, some more complex than others, but I think
05:22the easiest has got to be an underwater base. Start by finding any water source and digging
05:27a hole for the entrance. It's a good idea to dig down a few blocks as well, so that any
05:31light from the base isn't visible from above. Next, make sure to bone meal some seagrass
05:35outside to hide the entrance as best as possible, and also bone meal the area around it so that
05:39it's not completely obvious. Now, you've got your secret entrance, and all that's left
05:44to do is build your base. I've gone for a basic starter setup with all the essentials, but
05:50once again, this is a great one if you want to start small and expand further later on.
05:56Next up, we've got this small modern base, and I've used oak here to keep things nice
06:01and starter-friendly. This is a great option if you want a clean modern style, but don't
06:05yet have access to some of the later game materials. To build this, I started with some logs to get
06:09the initial shape in place, and then used oak planks to fill in the walls. From here, I added
06:14some tall windows to the front and back, and a few smaller ones around the side. I then wrapped
06:19some slabs and trapdoors around the build to give it a bit more depth, and finished by
06:24adding a simple interior. Although I've just used oak here, you can swap this out for different
06:28wood types or blocks to completely change how it looks.
06:35Now, we can't have a starter base video without featuring a cozy spruce cabin, and it's perfect
06:39if you actually want to appreciate your hard work and not hide it away like the underground
06:43or hillside base. So the first step, of course, is to find a nice location, and these work especially
06:48great tucked away inside of a forest, or even along the edge of a river or lake. Start by placing
06:53some
06:53spruce logs in the corners, and then use cobblestone between to create a strong foundation. From here,
06:58build up the walls using spruce planks, of course, including a door and some windows.
07:02And then top it off with a simple sloped roof using stairs and slabs. In this design, I've added
07:07a deep slate trim around the edge for a nice bit of contrast. And here's a bonus tip. If you're
07:11in a
07:12snow biome and want some snow to settle on your roof, replace a few of the stairs with full blocks.
07:16This makes it a bit more realistic and adds to the cozy vibes. Now to add some life, we of
07:21course
07:21need a chimney. Build it up with a few blocks of bricks, then place a campfire on top surrounded by
07:25signs or trapdoors. With a chimney also comes a fireplace inside, a must-have for any cozy cabin.
07:33Now whilst limited in space, you can always make a basement down below for extra storage or for an
07:38enchanting setup. And just like that, you've got a cozy spruce cabin that has everything you need for
07:43the early game. Now perhaps you'd rather move away from land and instead live out on the water. In
07:51that case, a small house like this is a great option. It's perfect if you want something a bit
07:55different while still being simple to build. So once you've found your spot, start by building up from
07:59the seabed. Or if you have a lily pad, you can even build straight off that. From there, use slabs
08:05to
08:05create a platform, giving you a nice easy base to work with. Now it's just a case of building a
08:09house
08:09blocky wood on land. Again, we can start with something small and add to it over time. The only
08:14difference here is you'll want to add a dock or access point for your boat. And this will also
08:19double as the perfect spot to fish from. Now although not the most practical base on this list,
08:24it's a great option if you just want something unique to change things up.
08:31Last but not least, we have one of my personal favourites, a cliffside base. It features a small
08:36structure on the outside, with the bulk of the base being built inside the wall itself. Now the
08:40first step is to find a good cliff, ideally somewhere with a nice view, as that's a big part
08:44of what makes this build so good. To get started, build your way up using slabs and then create a
08:49platform. Here I've gone for a 9x5. You could also add some support beams underneath to make it a bit
08:54more realistic, rather than just floating there. Next, build a simple structure on the platform and
09:00this will serve as your main entrance to the base. And since we're on the edge of the cliff,
09:04we want to make the most of the view. So adding a wraparound balcony is perfect for that.
09:11From there, head inside and start digging out your base. Just like with the hillside base,
09:15you can make this as big or as small as you like. In this case, I've gone for a simple
09:19starter setup,
09:20but there's plenty of room to expand with additional rooms later on.
09:23And to finish off and make it extra cosy, I've even fitted a chimney on the roof too.
09:30And there we have it. 10 simple base designs to use in your next survival world. I hope you
09:34enjoyed watching and I'll see you in the next one.
