00:00TV6 users sought to find out from Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander when the state plans to stop the first
00:07three mobile police military posts located at the Toruba Interchange, the Grand Bazaar Interchange and the Eddie Hart Grounds in
00:16Tacarigua.
00:17Not yet. They are not yet staffed. However, all of them, they are at about a 98% completion.
00:30The reason they are not staffed yet is that yesterday, we don't want the persons, the police and the members
00:39of the Defence Forum to go and occupy it and then we still have some minor things to do. So
00:44we wanted to complete the mission before we have occupation.
00:49On Monday, Minister Alexander joined Chief of Defence Staff Don Polo and Deputy Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin on a visit
00:57to the almost completed mobile police military post at the Eddie Hart Grounds.
01:02Yesterday, we had a meeting and there's another meeting to be held between the Defence Force and the Trantebago Police
01:09Service hierarchy.
01:13Again, strategic eyesight will determine how many persons are to occupy these mobile units and when is a matter for
01:28the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
01:33Is the Homeland Security Minister willing to say which contractor got the job?
01:37Why, all is well with it. All is well with it, I understand, for accountability and all of that. All
01:42is well with it. It also provides a disadvantage for those involved.
01:49Because you know how things are happening these days and people feel like they could call this on and try
01:55to extort and all these things. I think it provides a disadvantage.
01:59Comment for me? Personally, I do not see the benefit of it right now. However, all the information would be
02:07given to the members of the public at the appropriate time. That's all.
02:12But what about the work being carried out by the contractor?
02:15The contractor has done pretty well. Because when we took the police and the Chief of Defence Staff yesterday together
02:27with his team, they were completely satisfied that they would be able to occupy those facilities
02:40without any stress at all, which is what you are looking for, you know?
02:46Minister Alexander said once the first three are up and running, an assessment will be conducted to determine whether anything
02:53additional would be required for what he says would be the other mobile units, which will be placed in other
02:59parts of Trinidad and also in Tobago.
