00:02there's no real starting point to a dynasty what what does that mean what does that mean
00:10it isn't created out of a single moment it's created out of a confluence of circumstance
00:17and that's what makes it so fascinating when we throw around the term dynasty because it's
00:25so malleable the starting point is fluid it's kind of like a circle it feels good to be the king
00:30now we have to go back start a dynasty dynasty whatever you want to call it we're getting our
00:35third ring today so what makes a dynasty if you go back to back then we can start using the
00:43d word
00:45you can't win back-to-back championships and then disappear and call yourself a dynasty
00:51you've got to dominate for five or six years to claim that title
00:55a few years you have to you have to make deep playoff runs you have to do this you have
01:00to do
01:00that they'll tell you they're going to be super bowl champions again you're going to have a lot
01:07of pro bowlers a lot of all-stars players are first ballot hall of famers but you can't just win

01:17you need to change the game if you want to truly be a dynasty the k-gun will go to

01:23dynasty you're naturally loved or hated probably simultaneously but
01:29there's been a lot of debate of what constitutes a dynasty i mean you can have these debates or

01:49raiders dynasty of the 70s and 80s personifies what nfl football is all about
01:56the autumn wind is a raider pillaging just for fun wasn't nothing fancy about the raiders blue collar
02:03it was the working man's team there's never been another team encapsulate that spirit
02:10better than the raiders did in the 70s and 80s
02:17i like what the oakland raiders of the 70s were all about

02:43and that's something that pro football could use more of in my book

02:59except for the raiders that team was built on being kind of nasty
03:12the afc was brutal in the 70s
03:24in fact the raiders lost the afc championship game in five of john madden's first seven seasons as head coach
03:33i mean they're losing to the undefeated dolphins they're losing to the steel curtain steelers
03:38in 1976 the raiders finally got their win
03:46the super bowl 11 win was incredibly sweet because
03:51not only was it their first super bowl win it was a dominant win
03:57you can see the relief on madden's face
04:04under tom flores the raiders added two more super bowl wins in the early 80s
04:09we are gonna win no question it's kind of thing about the raiders of that era they dominated every super

04:26kind of a shame that madden wasn't coaching for super bowl 15 because that was his team

33:55they had a design for jerry rice and john taylor to be opposite each other
33:58and the defense was going to play man well what happened was jerry rice shifted
34:03most of the attention went to jerry rice
34:07left taylor open
34:11john taylor didn't have a single catch all day
34:13his stat line for super bowl 23 reads one catch 10 yards one touchdown
34:20a couple guys followed rice one man was on taylor he ran a post pattern and montana hit him in
34:25stride
34:26that to me was the exclamation mark at the end of that dynasty to say
34:31this championship wasn't one game it was a decade of preparation
34:39how about a 16 17 a lead from blue
34:42the 49ers the west coast offense changed the game forever
34:46that's why i think they're the greatest dynasty in nfl history
34:49a 77 yard touchdown pass to jerry rice
34:54it would take me about one quarter of one second
34:57to tell you san francisco 49ers number one

35:03now the giants don't make your list of dynasties which i think is absolutely crazy

36:37well impressive none of them came close to equaling what our next team did
36:45the number two dynasty of all time the 70s stealers
36:50well you want to talk about that 70s dynasty
36:53man you sit up you give respect you pay homage
37:01the blue collar mentality tough defense pounding the football wrong
37:07you look at every single position group up and down and there's just greatness
37:14that was just the perfect storm of a team
37:21there are 27 teams in pro football and then there are the pittsburgh steelers building that
37:29thing from what it was i mean it was awful people forget the steelers were awful years
37:41the frustration ended with the arrival of head coach chuck knoll and some divine intervention
37:48fires it downfield and there's inflation and that's cut out of the air
37:58the play jumpstarted the number two dynasty of all time as the steelers hoisted the lombardi trophy four times in

38:07number one the pittsburgh steelers are the champions of the national football league for the fourth time
38:16to me the greatest defense of all time is steel carton i mean come on they were the best
38:22yeah they were the best and the the worst in terms of brutality i mean

38:44players like mean joe green and jack ham and jack lambert
38:50they absolutely demoralized opponents before they took the field against them
38:55you knew you weren't going to have offensive success that day

39:31like that's the kind of present them boys had they still do to this day
39:40in 1978 terry bradshaw was football's most prolific passer they won different ways it wasn't the same
39:50it was the defense carrying bradshaw and then
39:55the second part was bradshaw helping the defense out
40:01formula in 74 and 75 it was defense and the run game with terry bradshaw as a complimentary piece
40:09in 78 and 79 it was a wide open pass game
40:13there is bradshaw giving the ball to blire blire reverses it to swan
40:17he gives it back to bradshaw bradshaw firing for cunningham a pittsburgh touchdown
