00:00horrendous nightmare a snake bit team would be one where ever something could go wrong it does
00:08bit franchise it's a combination of bad luck bad decisions he's an idiot and bad timing all
00:16coming together at once richard what are you doing we have a track play call and it's not true
00:21you could sit here and say karma's a bitch you're lucky but some teams are just snake bit more than
00:26most I think it's a team that gets close to the ultimate prize but can't close the deal
00:38that's a snake bit franchise okay and that's a snake bite you are terrible forever or you get
00:47really close to winning at all forever told us going to happen
00:59would you leave this list somebody should whoever made this list should be fired I mean at least put
01:03a number one here because if you ask any bills fan nobody has been bitten more times and harder by
01:10that snake over the years the bills have been wounded in a long way
01:17the game is on the line do the titans have a miracle left in them down the sideline
01:24there are no flags it's a miracle it's not a miracle it was a crime it was a fraud
01:32perpetrated on the streets of nashville
01:37who's number one who's number eight
01:42for every bills fan their greatest source of pride and pinpoint of pain is four straight super bowl
01:49appearances four straight losses we had not one two three four bites of dead apple and still
01:56have been swallowed all people who wanted in buffalo just wanted just once to say yes
02:04high drama here on the super bowl scott norwood he can fire the shot heard around the world now
02:11any conversation about the bill's snake bit status begins with two simple words
02:17wide right wide right wide right wide right wide right
02:23he missed it to the right with four seconds to play
02:27there's no question about it in my mind that's the game we definitely should have won
02:30that started a bad streak for us
02:32against the redskins hall of fame running back thurman thomas was m.i.a
02:37at the kickoff when he lost his helmet
02:39kenneth davis is hit at running back not thurman thomas
02:42how do you lose your helmet in the super bowl
02:44i'm an idiot
02:46all the redskins have really dominated this game
02:49they're just beating up the bills
02:50they got killed basically in the other three
02:52i mean 52 17 30 to 13 the next year against the cowboys
02:56now he's going to throw here
02:57oh
02:58it's out to the end and rolls in for a touchdown
03:02so the bills have had the wheels come off here
03:05it was like a snowball effect we couldn't stop the snowball from getting bigger
03:08by the time the fourth one came around you were like oh gosh not again
03:11oh man oh man oh man oh man deja vu
03:14it's like a needle in the balloon here we go again
03:17you just feel the balloon deflate
03:19this has just been a horrible and horrendous nightmare for the bills
03:25when are the buffalo bills going to get out from this snake big and dark cloud that just
03:29sort of hangs around they can get so close and then all of a sudden
03:33somebody snatches something away from them
03:35coming up what
03:36one-time champion has their fans seen red
03:40they don't get it
03:41number nine snake bitch franchise
03:43of all time the kansas city chiefs let's go
03:48the first four super bowls can't say he was in two of them
03:51just keep a trick of letting the ball down the field boys
03:53who would have ever thought that you wouldn't be back in a super bowl
03:57two years after winning super bowl four
04:00the chiefs were again knocking on the door
04:04they lose the longest game ever played at home
04:07there's no reason we should have lost this football game
04:09no god he missed it still hurts to tell you the truth
04:15the god of football somewhere decided that they're just going to let miami win that game
04:19we just never seem to get that swagger back after that loss
04:25and then they miss the playoff for the next 14 teams
04:28how do we act on the days we don't play well
04:31following the loss the chiefs trudged through an over two decade run of irrelevance
04:36perhaps that was easier for fans than the pain experienced in the 90s
04:40the 93 afc championship game which would put us in the super bowl we were playing in buffalo
04:46i remember a play right before halftime where montana throws a pass it was a pass to the fullback
04:52in the end zone
04:53but he dropped
04:57by halftime joe montana has been hit and had a concussion and he never comes back
05:02i'm not so sure anders doesn't catch that ball but the chiefs don't win that game
05:091995 you have home field advantage you have a very beatable indoor domed colts team you've got
05:22left the colts are going to kick bird our kicker this three field goals chip shot the mighty chiefs have
05:29fallen to the colts that snake look at me guys you gotta forget it it broke my heart because we
05:36were
05:36a much better football team than they were if you don't forget it it'll gnaw at you
05:42two years later again with the number one seed again the better team again a one-and-done run
05:49so pass is going to be knocked away incomplete it's hard for me to talk about those years they're
05:55they're kind of painful years that's over we can't do anything about it i believe that marty
06:00shottenharmer had some kind of mental blocking in the playoffs simple as that you either get better
06:07or you get worse you have to have a little luck along the way and you know if it wasn't
06:12for bad
06:13luck you wouldn't have any at all you want a piece of that championship put it in here
06:20it's just the beginning a new regime turned the chiefs into an offensive powerhouse
06:24in 2003 they started 9-0 but suffered yet another blow off his appointment to the colts
06:31and maybe that horseshoe that hangs on their helmet we should put it on ours for some luck
06:35maybe we aren't as good as we thought we were it is gut-wrenching for chiefs nation every year
06:42to see somebody else hand the lamar hunt trophy to another coach to another team for gosh sake it's
06:48it's about our turn i don't know if i particularly believe in in karma but there just seems like
06:54there's a kind of a bad karma around this organization mr thomas right there hall of famer
07:02passed away from complications after a car crash in 2000 more more snake bite but they don't go on the
07:10list today
07:20when i was a kid i was into the jets and then i got into girls as i got older
07:26and then i got back into
07:27the jets because i realized there's times when a girl won't you but the jets will always you
07:34you cannot find a more star-crossed franchise test diverting down on the deck and he is in a lot
07:40of
07:40pain all these years without even getting a taste of the super bowl i don't know how the jets are
07:45number eight i'd love to see your top seven i know the jets went to one and one it's 40
07:49years ago 40.
07:51the new york jets are the world champion in a stunning that's what happens to fluke teams when they
07:57can't rely on any more luck like having the other team's starting quarterback injured
08:04you don't go to the super bowl for 56 years and counting
08:10they had one of the great wins of all time and i think they're still paying for it joe nameth
08:14had a
08:15conversation with the devil right before that super bowl and he said devil if you give me this
08:20championship you don't have to give the jets anything else for the rest of my life
08:24i hope he lives for 25. marino takes the snap from center they caught the jets off guard on that
08:30plate the rest of the world is lucy to the jets charlie brown there's another penalty
08:36game was over if we hadn't had that truly believed it thank goodness for mark gastron the 12th
08:45man for the cleveland browns late in fourth quarter
08:48happen set down and the game is history that to me was the worst loss in the history of the
08:54franchise
08:55until 2004 in pittsburgh doug bryant from 43 yards away to send the jets to the afc championship game
09:08it usually happens wrong look just right now
09:14they wouldn't even be there if nate kating didn't miss kicks
09:20for the chargers
09:23there comes the one play for this team
09:28they've had a plethora of hideous coaches you know from lou holtz you know to bruce coslet i can't
09:34believe we blew that play no success without grow what a mess p carol is here for one year richie
09:41co-type this is serious business rich co-type he looks like he should be like a a plumber's
09:48assistant or something and he's the head coach of the jets you would have thought if there was one
09:52coach who could end the years of misery and the torment it would have been bill parcells it's about
09:58competition here son even the great dean parcells didn't escape the jets karma on the final weekend
10:04of the 1997 season here the jets are they have a chance to get in the playoffs bill parcells arguably
10:11one of his greatest coaching jobs ever and then in the final game against the lions he just makes
10:17some of the most asinine decisions you could ever imagine
10:26it was like parcells had just morphed into rich co-type for that one day
10:31parcells lasted three years on john and his early departure caused another snake bite for our number 18
10:40i'm not designed to resign as the head coach of the new york jets belichick leaving them at the
10:45altar has got to be the ultimate punch to the stomach for jets fans he's the head coach for 32
10:52minutes and goes on to become the greatest coach in modern football is another reason why the jets
10:57have to be higher than eight on the old-time small snakebitten franchise they have to be even in the
11:042008
11:05season when i look with they have left far they look like they're running away to the playoffs the
11:09jets are starting to look like a team that could be afc contenders they could be super bowl contenders
11:15all the new york papers everybody's like the jets are going to the suit bowl next thing you know
11:19team falls apart then the last game of the year shot kind of thing going back into the meadowlands
11:25and beating brett farb
11:29for some reason we can't get out of that hump and get back to where uh joe mayman created 40
11:33years ago
11:34you know right now we're kind of snake bin so hopefully we can find some antibodies for that
11:37i am prepared to live out my remaining days on this planet without seeing the jets win the super
11:42ball i've come to terms coming up next
11:47it got to the point where people who looked to sunday as an escape had to escape from sunday
11:57the goal that we're all seeking is the super bowl the rams won a super bowl in st louis but
12:04in los
12:05angeles they were snake bit by some of the greatest teams ever it was as if the tape had been
12:11moved just
12:12out of the bridge the fearsome forsa was derailed by the 67 packers the 70s teams ran into the vikings
12:21and cowboys in four conference championship losses and in the 80s the rams lost nfc championship games to
12:31the 85 bears and the 89 49ers the long time they did reach the super bowl the steel curtain dropped
12:43on
12:44another sad ending would i be drunk like this if there was a doubt in my mind the two was
12:49gonna win
12:50while the rams had their day in the super bowl sun our number 17 was cursed by a dark endless
12:57storm
12:58number seven snake bit franchise of all time the detroit lions not too low this might be the most snake
13:06bitten franchise in professional sports tell me six more franchises that are more snake bit than detroit
13:11the lions wounds are still fresh even after half a century bobby lane makes like a burger as he sneaks
13:17to the 49ers for a touchdown in 1957 detroit ruled the nfl as champions but when the team traded their
13:25charismatic quarterback bobby lane he put a curse on the franchise there's so many freaking curses around
13:32here why not throw bobby into it what is it lane said the lions would never win for the next
13:3950 years
13:40there's a curse of bobby lane when they traded him they have not been the same since matter of fact
13:45they have not been a franchise since then you want to believe there is something larger at play than
13:51just 50 years of mistakes and competence and bizarre injuries the only thing the lions fans can hope for
13:57now is we've got as low as you can absolutely go and the only way is up i think this
14:05should be the
14:05number one team when you look at their history one playoff win in the last 50 plus years they have
14:11just
14:11been dreadful not even barry sanders the only superstar capable of cracking the curse could
14:18pull detroit out of the playoff snake pit maybe the waterloo of barry sanders the lion was in green
14:24bag in the 1994 playoffs where you're in about 12 times from minus one yard this is arguably the greatest
14:29running back that you ever saw in the nfl the next season pro bowl tackle lomas brown tried to cancel
14:36the
14:36curse by guaranteeing victory he was over pretty much in the second quarter and they're down 51 to
14:44seven to the eagles they just absolutely get embarrassed way to complete a scott mitchell
14:49there's an adverb or adjective now called mitchling well he mitchell four interceptions could hit the
14:54ground with the ball
15:01munson made the comedy complete by throwing still another interception the fourth in five consecutive
15:07pass plays it's easy to believe in this curse because the position that has been most cursed on
15:12the lion since fatherly left is the quarterback position how do you run three yards out of the end
15:17zone like that not even know the quarterback battles that have taken place eric kramer andre
15:24where rodney pete rodney pete is the guy we're going to ride we're going to put a saddle on him
15:29and he's going to follow rodney all the way to the end of the season i'll be where we'll be
15:32started i'm hoping that this guy will take us through this whole season joey harrington i need to
15:36revisit that he was a train wreck from the beginning early in the 2008 season the 50-year curse of
15:45bobby
15:46lane was set to expire oh look good that's up good for us well not exactly the lions went on
15:54to
15:54become the only nfl team to go winless in a 16-game season by record they are the worst team
16:02in league
16:03history yeah i think that was just a perfect bookend for the curse the 50th year of the curse of
16:08bobby lane
16:09they don't win instead they put up the worst season in the history of the nfl
16:14the nfl later after this came out some guy named matt stafford grew up on the same street as bobby
16:22lane
16:24made his debut for the lions he won not a single playoff game in 12 years there
16:31and then as soon as you're on another team he wins a super bowl and now he's going to hall
16:35of fame
16:36there you go number six snake bit franchise of all time the new orleans saints
16:44it might be another pack with the devil for what the city is like i'll tell you that the new
16:49orleans
16:49saints for me a snake bit of franchise as any in the history of the nfl in 1967 the saints
16:55came roaring
16:55in like a lion scoring on their inaugural kickoff but they soon became a sacrificial lamb without a
17:03winning season in their first 20 years they reached the abyss of of horrible football the saints were
17:10considered for a long time to be a lost cause and new orleans loves lost causes as an expansion team
17:17the saints began with a snake bit swan castoffs and i just when i was like
17:25they were all at the downside of their career and they were just playing out the string and a really
17:29cool
17:29town to play it out in the french quarter was in fact the other locker room that's billy kilmer
17:36number 17 the guy cursing on the sidelines soon as he left the saints and got a chance to play
17:43he played in the super bowl like two years later
17:50for the new orleans they would always say they won the fifth quarter and the fifth quarter was in the
17:55french quarter they did win that game
17:58stuck in the eye of the snake bit storm was archie manning the saint's lone superstar who got the hell
18:06beat out manning's motley supporting cast included an astronaut as gm seven different head coaches and
18:16a mascot named gumbo it was very appropriate that it would be a saint bernard because he had some whiskey
18:21hanging off the front that people would probably take a hit of during the course of the game there's
18:25some crazy people that play this game and our dressing room always looked like a train station
18:30i mean with bags going and coming and in the huddle with the receiver you've never you can
18:34throw a pass to i mean it's goofy stuff nothing was goofier than the 1980 season
18:41an 0-14 start gave birth to a national institution the bag-headed eights
18:47there is one of the eights they don't want anyone to know they're identifying with the football team
18:52yeah we're getting very elaborate on our sack folks
18:57this is how we feel to end the misery championship coaches were brought in
19:04but only after their competitive fires had burned out
19:09didka that robs here the best way i can describe him he was still sitting in the back of the
19:13limousine waving at people after that super bowl 11 years before mike didka was a disappointment did
19:18not do a good job drafting and coaching it's like like twin heart surgery week after week after week
19:26without any anesthetic in 1999 didka gave up an entire year of draft picks for ricky williams
19:33a marriage that was snake bit from the start really what made the saints a laughing stock
19:40that tray set back the franchise i think about five years
19:48in america's voodoo capital the saint's snake bitten curse was broken in 2009
20:04the super bowl may have exercised the demons but it doesn't erase three plus decades of
20:10disappointments a history depressing enough to earn them the fifth spot on our list
20:17up next some franchises just wait for things to go wrong and now the number five statement franchise
20:26of all time we're going out there this first half we're going to explode like a bomb
20:33in my definition of snake bite which is just bad luck i mean i put the houston oilers right there
20:38that's buddy ryan taking a swing at kevin gilbride there was somebody out there always that was a
20:46little bit bigger and a little bit badder and a little bit better than they were a great example
20:51of the oilers being snake bit was in 1979 for the second year in a row they may have been
20:56the second
20:57best team in the nfl but it was their misfortune to go against the greatest dynasty still curt it is
21:03grandfro touchdown or is it it's a play that goes down as you know probably the biggest play in
21:10houston order history the official did not make any signal and now apparently has said no touchdown
21:18he's in he was in it was a play that could have got us with the correct calm it could
21:23have got us to
21:24the super bowl it's it's a pretty tough pill to swallow and how very big that play in the end
21:29zone
21:29has turned out to be the oilers are that close i mean literally that close to interrupting the
21:35dynasty of pittsburgh steelers really think deep down inside we felt like we were robbed
21:43son of a gun we can't catch a stinking break we gotta have the worst luck in the national football
21:49league
21:50the houston oilers were contenders again in the late 80s
21:53all starts right here but seven straight playoff appearances yielded nary a trip to the conference
21:59championship get the scourges keep working and they were snake bit by three straight late game
22:07collapses in all three games their defense cost them those victories ball is down up and in
22:14that's going okay you gotta be ready you gotta know you're ready that team gave up a 35-3 lead
22:22at
22:23halftime and of all the losses in oiler history this has got to rank as the most devastating
22:30we're a team of destiny we don't take this thing 1993 they build a lead in the astrodome before the
22:37biggest astrodome crowd in history so what happens the victim of joe montana's last miracle when he
22:43threw a pass to willie davis that was a dagger through the collective hearts of houston
22:49and i say to this day that pass in that game contributed to the oilers leaving town
22:55and moving to tennessee the oilers left town in 1996 and they took their bad corner with them teams
23:03that move seem to have some bad juju he came up one yard short one yard short hey look at
23:11the tennessee
23:12titans where they were this close to winning the super bowl one yard short it's a game of vengeance
23:18he talked about it yeah it's a game of vengeance it's just almost as if it was carrying over from
23:24texas over to tennessee maybe this franchise is never ever meant to win anything of significance
23:30the world to the super bowl comes through here always somebody a little bit better
23:35steelers dynasty twice
23:41elway bills
23:43elway again bills again montana rams in the super bowl 2000 ravens
23:55patriots dynasty in 2003
24:00you know i know they're fifth on your list to me they would be higher
24:04never give up baby never give up
24:10the eagles are the best example of the situation where it's better to never even contend than to
24:17contend all the time get close and have your heart broken many dreams may have crashed
24:23not to this day i can't believe they lost to tampa when the eagles had beaten 500 straight times and
24:32tampa bay had never won in under 40 degrees and they were coming to the vet where there wasn't a
24:36prayer they could win and it was cold and then what happened the eagles fell apart
24:40big step back fires and it's intercepted you get a super bowl in tampa before we get one in
24:45philadelphia really this is this is what the gods have decided for the third year people of tampa are
24:51good people that's my dad and his family they're from tampa
24:59my dad also thought the eagles would never win the super bowl even if they went 16 and 0
25:06in a row the eagles reaching the conference championship game and going no further i still
25:13think that they're better than the bucks i think they were better than the panthers
25:18and i think they were better than the arizona cardinals
25:23the eagles are one and four in nfc championships so they're like a lamer version of the buffalo bills
25:30that's your legacy congrats the eagles have tormented fans of all generations the gangrene eagles had a
25:42five-year snake bit run that started with the fog bowl boy was that a fun game it was it
25:48was like
25:48staring at you know the side of a ship the eagles and the bears are playing football but i can't
25:54see
25:54nor can anyone else we have philadelphia screaming at the top of our lungs stop the game i believe the
26:02bearers would have lost had the fog not rolled in the eagles that year would have won the super
26:06bowl if they get out of chicago
26:07two years later their super bowl hopes again went up in smoke this time in week one
26:16randall cunningham who's a potential
26:20player and bryce pop goes right into his left knee central league mvp walks into the season with
26:26a historically great defense
26:33when bryce pop hit his knee the world of philadelphia football crumbled that year
26:38i hate bryce pop to this day that season was the season that was supposed to deliver a super bowl
26:43to philadelphia i hope bryce pop is like working at a walmart somewhere
26:50and then of course jerome dies that spring and it basically sunk the 92 season i don't want to
26:57say that they couldn't continue on after him but there was a void that the eagles never came close
27:02to filling because of jerome brown he he was going to he was going to canton maybe with the ring
27:09and then
27:11eagles jeffrey lurie ownership lets reggie white rock rock walk out the door
27:18some of us wondered if the vet had been built over an old indian burial ground because it seemed nothing
27:25right went on there regardless of the playing arena not much has gone right for our number four
27:32snake bin team since winning the championship in 1960. he has even lost by winning as witnessed in 1968
27:41there's actually a reward for being bad and that was the first pick in the draft
27:45through that year it was oj simpson they get to 0 and 11. they actually win two in a row
27:52the buffalo bill is selected for first choice first round
27:56back back oj simpson university of southern california oj goes to buffalo the eagles get leroy keys and the philadelphia
28:04snake break continues
28:06i think we didn't revel in our frustration that the championship hasn't come our way
28:12this is the city and the town and that team is snaked it up next one team passed on a
28:18coach
28:18from the later delta dynasty it's just like oh my world can you have a top 10 list and not
28:25include
28:25the atlanta falcons you look at the falcons history it's been so frustrating you had that moment where
28:30they had the dallas cowboys beat it was a done deal they're going to the next level then out of
28:34nowhere
28:35into the end zone touchdown to look at the bridge probably down then you had this moment of hope
28:41with deon sanders coming up here deon 100 yards get in the playoffs and falcons have given him the ball
28:47you do that and you will get hammered in the head so good bird's all about here we go now
28:52it's 1998
28:52you've got this dirty bird thing going you got this magic you got dan reeves coming back from a heart
28:58attack you get to the super bowl nothing super bowl 33 is history the denver broncos have beaten
29:04the atlanta falcons 34 to 19. this is a sign of a totally snake bitten franchise our number three
29:12franchise had its super bowl dreams shattered by one of their own former coaches the number three
29:20slimming franchise of all time the cincinnati bangles why so low it can't be that bad if they've been to
29:29the super bowl twice and their founder paul brown the hall of famer paul brown was the father of modern
29:35coaching in cincinnati he mentored bill walsh but in choosing a successor brown set the bengals
29:42on their sneak bit path my former team cincinnati bangles probably do deserve to be on that list
29:48they passed on a great coach in bill walsh i thought bill walsh was crazy he didn't trust him
29:55holy smoke mill he didn't like some of the things that we were trying to do so they're here they're
30:00here he hired bill walsh we were going to be the west coast offense on new ohio river yeah they
30:06had
30:06the coach that went on and built the system to beat them in two super bowls right there in their
30:10midst and
30:10they chose not to hand him the chalk brown hired bill pecker johnson instead who resigned in the
30:16middle of his third season what if bill walsh stays and bob trump he'll probably tell you this his hands
30:21would be decorated with super bowl rings super bowl 16
30:29here's that it's a fantastic close the pass over to this
30:3481 hurts the most they couldn't get out of their own way with fumbles the inability
30:42the the the the bengals got robbed as a bengals hater they got robbed
30:49chris collinsworth yes the commentator chris collinsworth he didn't have possession of that
30:54ball before it was dropped that wasn't a fumble and they're in 49ers territory they score there
31:01and the 49ers don't score a touchdown they win that game but they got robbed
31:09we just scored the goal line
31:15have an opportunity to play the biggest game of your life and you don't play as well as you can
31:20play it haunt you forever the rematch can be seen since later but the bengals were snake bit even before
31:27kickoff there's a major story breaking out of the bengal camp and it isn't good stanley wilson who has
31:33twice before been suspended because of involvement with drugs the bengal running backs suspended on
31:39the eve of the super bowl i went back into the room and i said man stanley wilson won't be
31:43playing
31:44tomorrow i can remember guys taking their playbook and slamming them on the ground didn't mean enough
31:48to him to make the right choice here was your fullback critical member of the team it was devastating to
31:55this franchise and that they have a tim crumwright get hurt so early in the game the heart and soul
32:00of
32:00the defense come right going across watch the leg oh that is oh look at the foot
32:07with only seconds to play bill walsh and joe montana came back to bite the bengals one more time
32:21i'm still pissed on
32:25it's a parallel the death of paul brown and the demise of the franchise in the 90s
32:30of simultaneous i called it the lost decade searching for a bootleback to recapture the super
32:36bowl magic the bengals suffered a string of first round washouts the team was labeled the bungles you
32:44can't miss at that position you can't miss at the primary position in football akili smith he couldn't
32:51couldn't think football at an nfl level other players went on to implode and implode their
32:56franchise right along with them this ain't the same old banger this is the new banger even when
33:04cincinnati drafted a franchise quarterback he was bitten in only the second snap of his first playoff game
33:12carson palmer is down timo bonaholton put the hit on carson palmer and palmer went down you could
33:19positively feel an entire town just kind of sag the bengals fans are probably the most long-suffering
33:26fans in the nfl they've had to endure more you have to say that the cincinnati bengals are snake
33:31bitten franchise coming up what team had tons of and no rings no idea how you can do a list
33:39of the 10 most
33:40snake-bitten franchises and not include the arizona cardinals a team that went 62 years without a home
33:47playoff game after decades of failure the cardinals finally made it to the super bowl only to be stung
33:57by the steelers in the final second man oh man that close for the arizona cardinals in their first
34:06super bowl the seahawks were also mired in mediocrity before they got their first championship shot also
34:13against pittsburgh but seattle couldn't catch a break from the black and white seabirds
34:18touchdown seahawks that was a ticky tacky call i felt like that game more than any other the
34:25officials determined the outcome of the game oh my goodness it's coming back i don't know how you call
34:31that hold it hold it picking our number two ranked franchise was a much easier call
34:39the number two snake bit franchise of all time i think two is a perfect spot they've been to those
34:47super bowls they haven't been able to close the deal how could there be shame in losing the super
34:51bowl it's not a snake bit franchise at all being 0-4 in a super bowl that's that's the better
34:56snake
34:56bit you get starting in the late 60s the vikings dominated the nfc winning their division nine out
35:04of ten years it was a legendary squad loaded with hall of famers grand tarkington the purple people eaters
35:12you got blood grant on the sidelines you can't win a super bowl it was like the team that bud
35:18grant
35:18coached from september to december just didn't bother to show up how can you not want to win every game
35:24to the fullest does tiger woods play golf harder on the fourth day than he does the first day of
35:29a
35:29tournament no no we're gonna win this game we're gonna make these guys wish to never come off the
35:37reservation that's telling them they're not ready for that quick count they weren't out maneuvered in the
35:42one against kansas city because they weren't ready for what they saw yeah thank you saw again with this
35:51you have never saw anything in your life you saw it though i don't i don't know what sorry is
35:59i don't
35:59know what word that is running around there like it was a chinese fire drill you know hank's jam's
36:03laughing at him on the sidelines it's like stealing it's like stealing it's like stealing over there
36:08lost to the great dolphin team was coming off the perfect season going for two in a row
36:14and larry zonker running over like 10 guys something went crazy for that vikings team
36:20when the time came to play in the game that really mattered in pittsburgh we had a fumble recovery
36:24we were offside we had an interception defensive only that's being snake bit felt like you know
36:30here it goes again they caught a raider team that was just massive in its offensive line who took
36:36purple people leaders and uh put them on a diet
36:45winning gives me everything but losing sure is nothing you lose something like that as a real
36:50nothing feeling still haunts me every day when you start talking about snake bit franchises
36:58particularly ones that have the talent to do well minnesota gets clearly number one in 1987 a trip to
37:05the super bowl was just across the goal in a 1975 playoff the vikings were cursed by a cowboy's prayer
37:23the hail mary game that team was snake bit that was the team they felt that gave them the best
37:27shot to
37:28win a super bowl there's no way we can lose that game no way in the world well the cowboys
37:33made a
37:33miracle but sometimes the gods just say you know i want this one to win rather than this one
37:38he's gone long down the near sideline from drew pearson pearson makes the catch at the front
37:43touchdown watch you believe it and it also got a terrible call from an official drew pearson pushes
37:49me right everybody knows it and drew pearson told me that eye to eye and said but i'll deny alerts
37:56it was just that sudden that shocking like the world stop
38:01in 1990 the soda fielded one of the greatest offenses in football history when you think about
38:07the 15 and one year the year when they set the record for most points scored you know randy moss
38:12was
38:12just an unstoppable player and randall cunningham is resurrected and he seems like this is the
38:18unstoppable team first down he's done it all year long hasn't missed an extra point or a field goal
38:23he makes this game is over 39 yard attempt the spot the kick by anderson on the way
38:31no good gary anderson has missed a field goal for the first time in two years unbelievable absolutely
38:41one of the most devastating sports moments in the history of minnesota walking off that field
38:48i didn't even know if i wanted to play football anymore i felt like that i would never win after
38:54that
38:56well this is this confirms minnesota doesn't deserve a championship we're blaming the kicker for
39:02missing a kick when you were still up by a touchdown and your guys your offense sold your defense you
39:10got you
39:11had a guy drop an interception and then they go on and score and you lose in overtime and we
39:17blame a kicker
39:18you don't deserve a championship
39:22when they return
39:25who's number one
39:27they've been franchised of all time the cleveland browns of course number one number one
39:37they're number one in something fun i used to be number one all the time
39:42if you go back 60 years the browns were number one in football back then the browns were the model
39:48franchise everybody wanted to be like the browns it started turning wrong really when they fired paul
39:54brown the browns of the late 70s were mediocre the browns of the 80s were snakebit play was red right
40:0288
40:02it's a famous play in cleveland more the game was won the only thing sam martigliano's got to do is
40:09kick the
40:09field goal no i'm sitting here looking at the game and i'm saying be careful with it brian
40:16be careful with the end zone newsom oh it's intercepted it's intercepted and that doesn't
40:22better than karma started right from that moment right on down the line bad things stay with the browns
40:29to this day we just need to flush it all out it makes you think about games like the drive
40:36and the
40:36fumble things where it could have been but it wasn't but look the throw touchdown 98 yards the
40:45drive 98 yards in your own stadium your fans going crazy they had success right there this close and
40:52they couldn't seal the deal right now it's time to take a step forward a play like that can really
41:03make a franchise in a city feel as if the stars are not aligned properly for them you almost won
41:11now to be that close you know i i still to this day get emotional i should mature i shouldn't
41:19grow up
41:20i shouldn't get over it i haven't either i would never get over that after all of those then you
41:26had
41:26the move the browns are indeed coming to baltimore who'd ever thunk that the cleveland browns would
41:33leave cleveland the cleveland browns they don't move i mean they're old school nfl they don't move
41:41and then to see art modell and that team win a super bowl five years later was very very hard
41:49for a lot
41:50browns fans to take i can't tell you how proud i am of this organization all they had to do
41:57was get
41:57stenched of cleveland out of their nostrils and boom they're champions says a lot about the football
42:02curse that that city lives under hey maybe the nfl owner well commissioner paul tagliaboo
42:09should have given baltimore expansion franchise they earned then the browns couldn't have moved but
42:17blame him it's cleveland brown time not the old browns the new browns one franchise leaves and
42:26goes somewhere else a new one comes in and they still have strangeness oh this is terrible they're
42:31getting counted they're not doing so well in the second version are they dwayne rod took his helmet off
42:38and threw it but he thought the game was over the new browns finally made the playoffs in 2002
42:46but it looks an awful lot like the old browns they're leading pittsburgh late in the the second
42:52half we're being open the next week baby the last 19 minutes of that game were torture for browns fans
42:58i had every confidence not that the steelers would win it but that the bronze would blow it they always
43:04blow it and time ran out and maybe they shouldn't have built the the new stadium where the old
43:11stadium stood they steal the browns it don't matter we just can't get a break and of course then the
43:17media comes out and says hey do you guys know it's been 64 since you won a championship yeah thanks
43:24for
43:24reminding us one day it's all gonna come together and we're gonna have our day in the big show yes
43:33sir
43:37in another 50 years
43:43every team on our list figures their day will eventually come but until it does these teams
43:49will remain snake bit a tease to their fans hopes and dreams
