08:39So how he could get a 15-year contract instead of being fired was something.
08:45He really embraced the idea that the Eagles were going to lose them all
08:49and they're going to get OJ Simpson.
08:51Just at that moment, they start to win.
08:54You always want them to win.
08:55And then when you want them to lose, they can't lose.
08:57The fans, who were frustrated up to that point anyway, now become doubly frustrated.

31:43The 2007 Dolphins managed just 16 points a game and didn't manage a win until week 15,

32:11The number three worst team of all time, the 1972-73 Oilers.
32:18The next week, the Patriots travel to Houston and the Astrodome, where the Patriots defense

32:32In 1972, they scored the fewest points in the AFC.
32:36Houston also endured an 18-game losing streak that spanned the 72 and 73 seasons.

33:31To me, epitomized every bad team that the Houston Oilers had through the decade.
33:37Fans weren't the only ones who showed their disdain for the Oilers. Even the highlights spewed negativity.
33:50The ringleader during the crisis was Bill Peterson, a coach who had a reputation for
33:56turning struggling college programs around. He had had gr-
33:59He, the game, the three games of the previous season before Bill Peterson botched the entire
34:09team up. The Oilers won their last three games of the previous season. They won one game while
34:17Peterson was there in a year and a half. Really?
34:25Great success at Florida State. Turned them around. He turned them around.
34:29But he came to Houston. It was almost as if Pete was intimidated by the NFL.
34:34Well, where is the scoreboard?
34:36He had no idea of how to put a game plan together or really anything. I mean, it was really
34:40a mess.
34:41Let's think of this now in the next situation. Let's go third down punch.
34:45The master of the malaprop, he would tell the players to stand on their helmets with the sidelines
34:50under their arms. How do you inspire players when you can't get the words out of you?

36:16The team folded during the middle of the year, and we got our checks.
36:20And Jimmy Phelan, who's our coach, he called practice and everything off.
36:23He said, all right, go down the bank and cash your checks before they all start bouncing.
36:27Though our number two worst team never folded, they probably wish they had.
36:34The number two worst team of all time, the expansion Buccaneers.

36:39I don't think anybody's going to make the Olympics.
36:41Those 26 consecutive games, only maybe one or two of those players actually belong to an NFL roster.

36:52Big team on this squad at this time.
36:55When the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers reported to training camp in 1976,
37:00the lack of talent was immediately apparent.
37:04It's all right. If you had to catch his mitt, you'd have caught it.
37:07If you remember back in 76 when they were expanding teams, they had this allocation draft of basically a bunch
37:13of stiffs.
37:14You had to pick up guys that was walking the street and driving trucks and working at the gas station.
37:19John McKay looked at what he had, and he thought his USC teams could have beaten what he had, and
37:23he was probably right.
37:27Even before Tampa Bay's first game, there were ominous signs of things to come.
37:32The Bucs' first game was at Houston in the Astrodome.
37:35Well, locker room, they came out and they took a wrong turn.
37:37They started walking away from the field down the tunnel.
37:39So they kept walking and walking and walking.
37:42They're wondering when they're going to get to the tunnel that will lead them onto the field.
37:45About five minutes in, some guy from the Bucs says, we're going the wrong way.
37:49Now that is a prophetic statement, if you ask me.

37:55It's been the only consistent Buccaneers since they were born.
37:59It's never stopped running.
38:01The Buccaneers were consistent.
38:04Consistently bad, Tampa Bay began its existence by losing their first 26 games in a row, an all-time record.

39:20So if you can imagine a bunch of good humor bars running onto the field, it probably wasn't very intimidating.

39:52The Bucs won their first game, but legend has it that Tampa Bay received some added motivation from the Saints.
39:59Archie Manning allegedly said it would be a disgrace to lose to the Bucs.

40:05Whether it was a ruse by McKay to get the team fired up, maybe he saw that that was their
40:10last hope to get a victory after two arduous seasons.
40:13Regardless of what he said, they lit a fire under the Bucs and it continued onto the field.
40:18Hank Strand certainly knew that it was a dark day for the New Orleans Saints and a dark day for
40:23him, and he was soon fired.
40:24What we should do is go down and get their champagne.
40:28But we'll drink our beer.
40:31And now, the number one worst team of all time for the 2008 Lions.
40:38The record speaks for self.
40:40Expansion Bucs have to be worse.
40:42Can't argue with 0-16.
40:44That's as bad as you can possibly get.
40:46They were pathetic.
40:47Embarrassment hawed to stomach.
40:49They're the worst team in NFL history.
40:54In 1978, the NFL switched to a 16-game season.
40:58And 30 years later, the Detroit Lions became the first team to lose every one.

41:35That would just be called too easy.
41:37The one that's going to get replayed forever is Dan Orlowski running out of the back of the end zone.
41:42Well, he ran out of bounds.
41:44That's a safety.
41:44He was able to laugh.
41:46Yeah, I know this complete buffoon has an MVP vote.
41:53And blabbers on TV for a living.
41:57About it during the year, but unfortunately for him, that's going to be the signature moment.

44:41If you want to blame people for the 0-16, number one by far with a bullet is Matt Millen.

44:49They were bad enough that I think there might be a parade in downtown Detroit now that they're

44:54Despite Detroit's imperfect season, not everyone agrees they should be our number one worst team.
