02:56Was were you, what did you think about that then?
02:59Or did you just think that was...
03:00I was really confused.
03:02Like, I didn't get why I was wearing a mask.
03:04But I understand it now, why my dad would want our face to be covered.
03:10Like, when we went out without him, we wouldn't be recognized and we could have a normal childhood.
03:14So you would only do that when you were with your dad?
03:17Yeah.
03:18Yeah.
03:18And then, when you weren't with your dad, you could go out and people wouldn't know who you were.
03:23Smart.
03:24Smart.
03:25And so, did you feel that he wanted you to have a, quote, normal life?
03:31Yeah, he did.
03:33Yeah.
03:33Do you feel that he thought that that was possible with him being who he was?
03:38He had his doubts.
03:39Because I remember he told us that when he was younger, he didn't really have a childhood.
03:44Like, he would always be stuck in the studio singing while other kids were out playing.
03:49And he wanted us to have that.
03:51So we would, a lot of times, we'd go to Chuck E. Cheese and everything.
03:54And it was, that was, Chuck E. Cheese and Toys R Us were our favorite places to go.
03:58Really?
03:58Yeah.
03:58I was wondering how your father would feel about your and your brothers now being in the public eye, being
04:11photographed, being out.
04:14Prince Paris and Blanket Jackson.
04:18Paris says she knows her family is hesitant to see her in the spotlight, but she's dreamed of acting since
04:24she was a little girl.
04:25Just this year, she landed the starring role in her first feature film, London's Bridge and The Three Keys, based
04:32on a young adult fantasy novel.
04:35Acting has always been my passion.
04:37Really?
04:37And I just love it.
04:39And it's, I think that it's amazing.
04:41Why can't you just believe?
04:43Why do you love it?
04:44I don't know.
04:45Like, you can be, like, a totally different person on camera and it's just, it's fun.
04:48Like, you can take on another character.
04:50And I think that that's just so awesome.
04:52You know, when we were talking last year, or almost a year and a half ago, one of the things
04:59that you said that really surprised me, and I think a lot of other people, you were talking about your
05:02dad making breakfast for you.
05:05Yeah.
05:05And I thought that was such an interesting memory because the world doesn't really perceive your father as, you know,
05:13a father who's making breakfast.
05:16Yeah.
05:17Can you tell us about your life with him and all the normal things that happen?
05:22Well, like, now I see other kids and their parents, I compare them to my dad.
05:27Our dad was a really normal father, like, when he was with us.
05:31Really?
05:32Yeah, he would, uh, we would get grounded if we did something bad.
05:35He would ground you?
05:36Yeah, he would ground us.
05:37But he can call it grounding.
05:38He would just say, you're on punishment.
05:40You're on punishment?
05:40Yeah, and sometimes we'd be on punishment a lot.
05:43Really?
05:43Yeah.
05:43Mostly me and Blanket, because me and Blanket would always fight.
05:47Are you and your brother's close?
05:49Um, yes, we are.
05:51Yeah.
05:51Have you gotten closer since your father's death?
05:54Well, I mean, Prince has started to drift off.
05:58I mean, he's a teenager.
05:59He's, like, a teenage boy.
06:00They're going to do that.
06:01They're going to try and separate themselves from the rest.
06:04But me and Blanket have found a lot of things more in common.
06:08Mm-hmm.
06:08More things in common than I thought we did.
06:10Mm-hmm.
06:10So me and him have gotten a lot closer.
06:12How was your day-day?
06:14So about what age do you recall that you realized that your dad wasn't like other dads?
06:19Meaning he was Michael Jackson and he was famous.
06:25Around nine or ten, I realized, like, wow, he's really big.
06:34Because what would it be like to see Michael Jackson perform for the first time and realize,
06:41that's your dad?
06:42Yeah, I was like, whoa.
06:44And then I was like, that's my daddy, that's my daddy.
06:46And no one believed me.
06:47Uh-huh.
06:47Oh, are you able to listen to his music?
06:49Yeah.
06:50Is it comforting to you?
06:51Yeah.
06:52If you're out someplace and suddenly you hear a song or a song comes out of nowhere and you weren't
06:57prepared for it, does that...
06:59I just start to dance.
07:00You do?
07:01Yeah.
07:01Start to dance.
07:02But it doesn't throw you into a sad place?
07:04No.
07:05Unless it's a really sad song.
07:06Like, um, You Are Not Alone makes me cry.
07:09Mm-hmm.
07:11How do you feel you are doing without him?
07:17How do you feel inside yourself that you're doing?
07:23I don't...
07:24I think I'm doing all right.
07:26I mean, me and my brothers, we miss him with all our hearts, but...
07:30Do the memories come fast and furious still, or some of it's fading and it gets a little easier to
07:37move on?
07:38It never gets easier.
07:39It doesn't?
07:40No, um, a lot of times I'm, like, in school and I just, like, remember something and I smile.
07:45Because, like, someone does something that reminds me of a memory.
07:48And, um, I have quite a few memories.
07:53And I'm...
07:54I can't selectively pick them.
07:56They just come on their own.
07:58Mm-hmm.
07:58I'm always in my heart.
08:02You are not alone.
08:04You are not alone.
08:06I am here with you.
08:08I am here with you.
08:10I am here with you.
08:36How are you feeling about her and her movie career?
08:39I am so proud of her.
08:41Mm-hmm.
08:41I am really, really proud of her.
08:42Mm-hmm.
08:43It was heartwarming to see the touches of memorabilia Paris keeps of her legendary father.
08:50Then, it was lunchtime.
08:52Thank you again, Mrs. Jackson and Paris, for a really good day.
08:56We all can't wait to see you shine on the big screen.
08:59We all can't wait to see you shine.
