00:09Writing on Facebook, the former DAP deputy chairman argued that DAP had failed to deliver
00:15meaningful change for non-Malays despite having 40 MPs and 5 ministers.
00:21Ramasamy added that quitting the government would not automatically make DAP more assertive
00:26after what he described as years of being pliant.
00:30His remarks come ahead of DAP's August 16th Congress, where about 4,200 delegates are
00:35expected to vote by secret ballot on whether the party should remain in the PH-like government.
00:41Ramasamy expects delegates to back staying in government, possibly with conditions as leaving
00:46could hurt DAP's chances of joining a future administration.
00:50He claimed DAP had become less vocal on issues affecting the Chinese and Indian communities
00:56after joining the government, while making concessions to what he described as Malay hegemonic interests.
01:02Ramasamy also pointed to DAP's setbacks in Sabah, Johor and Negeri Sambilan,
01:07including Secretary General Lok Sufok's defeat in Chenna.
01:11He maintained that DAP's problems run deeper than its place in government,
01:16citing generational, ideological and structural changes within the party.
