00:00UMNO Youth Chief Dr. Akhmar Saleh tonight justified his decision to quit as an Executive

00:06Counselor in the Melaka government, saying it would provide him with more time to go

00:10down to the ground.

00:12Akhmar said without a post in the state government, he would be able to check on every UMNO youth

00:17division nationwide.

00:19In his winding up speech, he said they will check and ensure preparations for the next

00:24general election are more organised, to ensure UMNO becomes dominant once more.

00:30Akhmar also pledged to nurture over 300,000 Akhmar Salehs to attack the party's rivals.

00:37This evening, UMNO Supreme Council member Puat Zarkashi described Akhmar's planned resignation,

00:43which the latter claimed would enable him to fight DAP to the end as unnecessary.

00:48Akhmar had earlier today announced his resignation as the Melaka Executive Counselor in Charge of

00:54Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security.

00:57His resignation will take effect next week.
